The kitty-cat bracelet is just an excuse. What really tore him was the hurt voice in the one person that shows him love and affection, his little daughter.
Also, seven-two off suit tattoo is the worst hand that can be dealt in Texas Hold-Em. The man bearing this mark can take that hand and win with it. It is meant to be a signifier that Hutch was part of an elite military unit that would handle the dirtiest, worst, most suicidal missions and still win.

    • @VoidVintage
      @VoidVintage Рік тому +27

Correct. Also, the suits were Spade and Diamond. Meaning he dealt with "death" and for "money".
Anyone seeing this tattoo should instantly "fold" to the bearer.

Much better than folks talking over dialogue, really. The only folks suffering from this ever so slightly is whoever is responsible for splicing together the final full-length reaction, and even then that's barely a huge deal, is it now. Pausing is a baller move.

A scene that should be in a future film:
John Wick approaches a bar and orders a drink. A voice down the bar calls his name. John looks up and sees Hutch.
    Hutch: I thought you retired?
John: I thought I heard the same about you.
Hutch: Yeah, I had to step back in for a minute.
John: Yeah, I get that. Good seeing you Hutch. Tell your father I said hello.

Let's hear it for Bob Odenkirk! The dude got started in writing comedy on Conan O'Brien, turned in a stellar drama character with Saul Goodman, and worked his ass off to make kicking ass look so good. He had a heart attack shortly after filming completed but he said that if he hadn't been in such good health from making this movie, it might've killed him. I hope he sticks with us a while longer. If you like this film, you gotta check out this director's prior film, HARDCORE HENRY. It's even more nonstop action than this movie. It's like NOBODY with upgrades. Speaking of, UPGRADE is another slick af action film too. Along with the RAID films, you'll have some folks to fill your bad ass list with. Keep it going team EOM!

    • @doughbafett

He worked on The Ben Stiller Show before Conan. That was a brilliant sketch comedy series. Odenkirk's Charles Manson bits were classic.

He did stand up comedy too, maybe before Conan. I remember seeing what might have been one of his first spots where it was all about making sure people remembered his name. Basically an audio track repeating his name over and over while he did sight gags.

We're here to see you, and the movie is just the backdrop. Your rants, observations and amusement is what this whole channel is about. A year later, this film remains outstanding among all the EQUALIZERs, JOHN WICKs, ACCOUNTANT, Jason Statham's... I love the camera work and choreography to line up a 3-heads/1-shot trigger pull, and then sit back with ZERO mention of it - force the audience to be shocked into realizating EXACTLY what happened. Make us be smart enough to see that, to calculate it,a dn realize "This is a great camera angle-!" In EQUIALIZER 3, the pistop stabbing thru eye-socket and blasting away thru the skull is another rare shot. These filmmakers are getting more and more interesting.

Bob Odenkirk is such a damn legend from comedian to drama to action the guy can do it all. Fun fact he had a heart attack on the set of the final season of the critically acclaimed Better Call Saul and he believes the reason he survived is due to the shape he got in to play the role of Hutch in Nobody. Also this movie has a fantastic soundtrack.

HOLY FUCK am I glad you watched the mid credit scene. I really hate it when people don’t scroll through credits for additional scenes. But I did say you would be in for a ride. I’m glad you picked up on Hutch being someone different.
I have not seen you laugh this crazily in…forever. I guarantee you reveled in the carnage
Let’s break down a bit more about Hutch Mansell: The tattoo you saw on his wrist, have you ever played Texas hold ‘em poker? If you see a seven and a deuce in your hand it’s always best to fold. Because your chances of getting any success, let alone a straight, out of those cards…yeah, it’s best to fold. To put that in perspective: Hutch Mansell is clearly one of those operators who is capable of dealing with impossible odds by himself. Just the photos of his carnage from the Pentagon report are case in point. His father Dave Mansell (played by Christopher Lloyd) was also special forces before he joined the FBI. If you looked at his left wrist while he was smothering the dying assailant, you would see his special forces tattoo. Harry, his brother (played by RZA) was also special forces. What separates those three characters from other special forces groups, is that these three were more Tier 1 than the standard Tier 1 special forces units in the USA. These three had been on suicide missions by themselves. Hence, they were government sanctioned assassins.
But I’m so damn glad you watched this. Now I really gotta watch your full reaction on Patreon soon. But when you do rewatch this movie, pause on the Pentagon photos of Hutch’s carnage and zoom in; you’re head will spin, I guarantee it. As for your singing…don’t quit your day job. 😁😁😁
On that note, may Tina Turner and Ray Stevenson RIP!

The more times I see this, the more I appreciate it. Yes, it's essentially a midlife crisis power fantasy, but it's just grounded enough, and Bob Odenkirk is perfection.

36:15 Yeah, that tattoo Hutch has that the Vet recognized is a Vietnam era tattoo IIRC, it's two playing cards, a 7 & 2 off-suit, which is known as, "The dead man's hand" because it is one of the least likely hands to win against anything else in Texas hold 'em...so the man who gets that tattoo is either crazy...or so damn good that he can actually win with that hand...
But definitely check out the director's first work, Hardcore Henry...It's an action movie, but the twist is that it's all filmed in first-person POV from the eponymous main character, "Henry" who is basically a cyborg...it's parkour after setpiece after parkour after setpiece...it's a lot of fun...

Hey, fun fact. The painting he took off the wall... Vincent van Gogh's The Bedroom. A painting Vincent van Gogh did of his own room in the Yellow House he stayed at while he was in Arles, France. Worth a lot of money. 😉

My favorite thing is that most movies would make it a point to explain why Hutch's brother is black, but they don't. You just have to accept that they are a family and the how and why they became a family is irrelevant. It really hits close to home for me.

That Pillow Wall didn't have to get that far. Once there is acceptance it's all about a 2 Step Program 1.) Get up 2.) Get gone.

Hardcore Henry is from the same director and he tends to watch reactions and comment. The og Korean version of oldboy is good to, and will give us many a heartfelt stfu.

Hutch didn't burn all the guys money. He burnt all the Russian mafia's money that he was in charge of for the time being.
Whether he gets Hutch back for that or not, he's done for.

    *What A Wonderful World, 1968*
    “I see trees of green
    Red roses too
    I see them bloom
    For me and for you
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    I see skies of blue
    And clouds of white
    The bright blessed day
    The dark sacred night
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    The colors of the rainbow
    So pretty in the sky
    Are also on the faces
    Of people going by
    I see friends shaking hands
    Saying, "How do you do?"
    They're really saying
    "I love you"
    I hear babies cry
    I watch them grow
    They'll learn much more
    Than I'll ever know
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    Yes, I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    Ooh yeahhhhh”

The casting of Bob Odenkirk in this is the most inspired piece of casting I've seen since Rick Moranis played Dark Helmet.
