  • Our train hit a person who sadly passed instantly.
This happened outside at the exit of the tunnel just before Knebworth.
    Location of incident: w3w.co/skirt.notice.oasis
Only the front 1% of this 12 carriage train was sticking out of the tunnel hence almost everyone came to the First Class section to use their phones to inform their loved ones of the delay to the service.
The train eventually called at Knebworth and terminated at Stevenage.

I’ve dealt with numerous incidents like this, sadly and unfortunately. As Osiris has pointed out, the person that decides to end life like this are not in a good place at all, often looking for a way out. They are not thinking straight, they can’t, so despite it being inconsiderate to others you still can’t call it a selfish thing. Of course it’s very traumatic for others including the driver etc., but again, the person is in a very dark place and not thinking realistically or about others. It’s all very tragic.

It’s not as selfish if they’re by themselves…but if you’re like that girl who took her child with her and jumped in front of a train I feel like you’re another level of evil and selfish. How can you take an innocent life along with you??

In the 20+ years I’ve worked on the railways it never seizes to amaze me how selfish the travelling public can be during incidents like these. Just the moans you heard on this video when the relief driver informs the passengers that the train would be coming out of service when it gets to the next station.

Most people though I've noticed moreso in the UK seem to have had a complex of entitlement develop with no actual decency or realisation that they aren't the only person on the planet. A delay is a delay, but instead of pity whining, people are going home worse off in the emergency staff and rail staff and it's best to realise it won't be you having to pick up body parts from underneath the bogies

Such a shame why people get so depressed to end their lives. Whatever way they do it. It must be severly traumatic for them to get to that point. I'm sure we all have & do suffer with deppression at some point in our lives But, to get to the point of taken their own life like this or in any way must be extremely bad. SAD, VERY SAD!!!! for them & their closest friends & family to know about it. We say there is help out there for them. But, maybe the help is simply not enough emotional support can help. But, it is knowining the signs & dealing with them fast But, many in this poor state of mind hide it very well until it's too late. SADLY!!! we loose too many people to suicide almost everyday not just celebrities ( music business people aswell). But, everyday none celebrity people to this HORRIBLE thing. My deepest condolences to this person's family & very closest friends. & it is caused by usually the STUPID TIGHTFISTED so called giverment forcing benifits off people that are either already out of work or disabled with already long term issues as it is. This country STINKS!!!! when the rich get richer ( TIGHT B******S!!! ) & the poor get poorer No wonder many end up on the streets in the cold. I know many do stupid things with their money but, the extreme high cost of what is supposed to be living is pure ROBBERY & SELFISHNESS!!! No wonder this country is in such a BLOODY MESS!!!! ( sorry for my profanities) But, it really gets under my skin & i end up using some profanities. Just to get a very tiny bit of anger & stress out. As inam sure we all do at times ( most times). Once again deepest condolences to closest friends & family of this person's sad departing from life.
