  • Cluster Headaches Symptoms, Associated Issues & Triggers
    Cluster headaches are a primary neurovascular headache disorder involving “groups” or “clusters” of headache episodes that occur over a certain period of time. Cluster headaches are more likely to occur in smokers and also in those who have a family history of cluster headaches. Cluster headache episodes occur in a particular way, with varying frequency, and have many associated issues that co-occur with them.

    Thank you! Very informative. I definitely believe mine are hormone related. I only started getting them around age 45. Always over my right eye and always late night early morning. They’re soooo painful, but they do get better once I wake up. They’re becoming less frequent now that I’m in menopause.

      I'm a very healthy 40 years old male and i'm into 2nd week of my episodes. I've been pain free for two years and it's now back. I guess it will take two or three more weeks to end this cyle. I just found that meds that with "triptan" (rizatriptan, sumatriptan, etc.) helps if you are quick enough to take it just as you feel the attack is coming. Water soluable ones take effect quicker. Hope that helps you.

      @@emprheanI’m 37 years old and male. Started when I was in my 20’s and without fail, hits about 3-5 years between episodes. Good news, they say you age out of it-maybe. I’m pretty sure my dad had it and he hasn’t had one in decades

    I'm 35 and have had them since I was a teenager. I just found out last year that if I feel one coming on I will chug an energy drink and it almost immediately goes away. I never drink caffeine but I always keep an energy drink in the fridge just for this, been a lifesaver because these cause some ridiculous pain

    mine lasted from sept 2001 to sept 2016.. they just suddenly stopped.. it was the weirdest headaches ever, some times multiple times a day and they would restart again at exactly the same hour and minute that they happened the day before .. i used to buy at the beginning very expensive drugs for it then after about a year i noticed that aspirin with caffeine from bayer or ibuprofen pills with caffeine did the trick for cheap..

    I've had some really bad migraines before, but after seeing this, I don't think I can compare my pain level to what they experience. A really bad migraine for me is one that hurts pretty bad, but not unbearable, but just lasts for a long period of time. I had no idea cluster headaches were this severe.

      I promise you cant.... I've had my leg get caught in a wood chipper and ultimately severed above what was once my knee and that pain came nowhere near just a single one of my cluster headaches. I'd literally give up my only leg left if It meant that I'd never have another cluster period occur ever.... Maybe that puts it in a little bit better perspective for anybody that doesnt know.

      Try getting in shower as hot as you can stand it with the stream hitting right on the pain point like eye lid. Get you face as close to the shower head as possible….

    So I guess I have migraines and not cluster headache, because I have pain in or around one eye every while and it’s severe but it has no symptom of the cluster headache and I also have photosensitivity during the headache.

      Mine last around 20-30 minutes. I found out last year that if I down an energy drink when one is starting it will go away within a couple minutes it's been a lifesaver. I don't drink caffeine because it doesn't affect me so i'm able to drink a Red Bull at 2am and go right back to sleep. You may not be able to do that at 2am though lol. I keep a Red Bull in the fridge only for these

    I always heard from experts on tv that cluster headaches were called that because they clustered around one side--mainly the eye.
    Also, how are these different than Hemicrania Continua?

    • @ponzo1967
      @ponzo1967 10 місяців тому +1

      They are called clusters because they come in bunches. 80% of sufferers are episodic and tend to get 2-4 a day for a period of 4-8 weeks before going into remission for several months. Usually occuring around the same time of year each cycle. There seems to be exceptions around most of this information but that's it in a nutshell.
