    Here's a tip, use 3/4 of sugar for the yolk mixture and 1/4 for the meringue so that the cake isn't to sweet. The milk mixture will make it sweet enough

    Tres leches is made with sponge cake, no butter, no milk, no baking powder. 1 egg per each 30 grams of sugar and flour that's it! I usually make 6 eggs, 180 grams flour, 180 grams sugar. To moist I use I can of condensed milk, 1 can of evaporated milk and about 500 grams of regular milk. Then whipped cream and that's it ❤

      I've seen plenty of recipes that use either or butter or fat with or without baking powder.

      @@chewdoom8415sponge cakes can use butter but just not baking powder or soda since it depends on the eggs for a rise. Preferably meringue is used to rise it. A sponge cake is not a sponge cake if it has self rising flour or any dry leavening agents.

    I am making tres leche right now, and while i was waiting for it in the oven, i wanted to see other people’s tres leche. I come across this video and it happens to be the same exact recipe i am using! So if you want to know if it is good, it is AMAZING! By far the best cake i have ever had. It originates from Mexico.

    would not recommend waiting for soft peaks and then whisking in sugar, if the sugar is too dense it ruins the fluffiness. learned that the hard way. i’d recommend either just adding the extra sugar in the batter of half of the sugar sprinkled in with the egg whites already at hard peaks and folding that in

      I agree I'm making one currently for my son's birthday tomorrow it's his favorite cake I use a quarter of a cup of sugar in my meringue. I think it comes out a lot better with less sugar and added slowly

    I did this recipe and some things I would change is using less sugar in the dry ingredients because the condensed milk adds extra sugar plus the whipped cream on top ,also use white refined sugar I used brown sugar because of the taste but it made the batter kinda grainy and harder to mix but it came out good at the end 🍰

    Maple condensed milk??? Is it bought that way or just maple/pancake syrup added to a can of condensed milk? I can’t find it already prepared for sale anywhere on the internet. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      @@WillBlindYouWithLight Is that CARAMEL-flavored SCM? Or MAPLE-flavored? Two different flavors. Usually caramel is used to dip apple slices in. This recipe calls for ‘MAPLE-flavored SCM’. I’m tending to believe pancake syrup or pure maple syrup was added to the SCM by the cook.

    i made this last night, my first ever time trying to make a tres leches cake, and i will say that the texture was very nice, however, way too sweet. I would say to definitely cut down on the amount of sugar that goes into the cake itself because the syrup that you pour afterwards is sweet enough.

    Traditional tres leches does NOT have butter, it will make the cake too soft.. the sponge is supposed to be dry with big air pocked to soak up the milk but not make it soggy. Also 3/4 cup of sugar is enough. The cake will be overwhelming sweet if the sponge is sweet.

    This will be my 2nd time making this cake with this recipe, and it's awesome!! I only used 1 cup of sugar though, half cup with the egg whites and half cup with the egg yolks and it still turned out too sweet 😂. This time I used 1/4 cup, it's in the oven now and hopefully it's not too sweet this time. I love how moist it turned out though.

    I feel like the texture of the cake needs to be spongy, but hard enough to where it doesn’t crumble when you eat it, if it like the cakes made from boxes, it’ll fall apart, my mom would know

    I recommend to put 3/4 of the condensed milk rather than the whole can …. And 3/4 cup of sugar into the egg yolks not 1 cup and for the egg whites 1/4 cup of sugar… for more details go to Natasha Recipe is wonderful I made her cake so many times and every time cake finishes with in a Day and I don’t even get a bite 🥲🥲

    Theres no way you put 500 gr of sugar
    You put 1 1/2 cup of sugar in the begging = 300 gr and then to the whites 1 cup = 200 gr

    Ok so 2 days ago I made this and I legit followed every instruction to do this until the kids got home and bothered me for a couple minutes then I was back in the kitchen ……
    Well some how I mixed the sugar and the egg whites together and I wasn’t seeing the foam and looked at the video again 😅oops I blame the kids anyways followed everything else and it still came out so so so delicious literally next day I went to the Mexican store and cursed them out for selling me Walmart box sponge cake you can actually taste the difference oh yea little did I realize I made a homemade cake …. First timer here spent over $200 on cake equipment when all I needed was a blender lol😂 thanks anyways this cake is so amazing , I’m making another as we speak . How does one go from construction work to taking a vacation day to make fun yum cake 😅😂

      If you have a hand mixer mix the egg white in high. Will fluff up very quickly. I didn’t do it fast enough my first time and only a portion fluffed

      I did a recipe that called for this much sugar. But no added special cream on top of the cake. So the cake was perfect. Because there was no added cream on top. It's a Chuy's copycat by Saras bites ❤

      it Is not from Serbia. evapored milk technique was invented in América and it taked around Two decades to start using in other continents. but México and contries from centro América stated using it as fast at it come out. the best guess Is that the country of origin is México but even today other latín countries like Venezuela and colombia claim it started there
