I once read a story where a woman was charged $20 for a bandaid, so she went to CVS, bought a $4 box of bandaids and gave one back to the administration. She told them they could take off the $20 because she had reimbursed them one bandaid. She kept doing this until she basically was so annoying they cleared her debt.

If enough of the American people would do this, along with unionization, reasonable boycotting and actual corporate taxation, they would slowly be heading to a more stable national economy as greedy corporate executives lose the control they've established.

Turns out that funerals are noticeably cheaper than actually getting help. Let me repeat that: *Here in America, it is more affordable to die, to
k!ll urself, than it is to actually go to the hospital to try and get better.* I wish I had never gotten curious about that. It feels hopeless. It feels like I have nowhere to go. Luckily I've settled on living to age 30 at most, so I might be able to hope to get better within that time frame, but I'm just a kid, man. I should not be thinking about this stuff at age 14.

Even if it seems like there is nowhere, or nothing you can do, the only person who controls your body is you; if you wanted to pack up everything you owned and bail then you have the power to do so, you just need to find the will to do so, even if it's *purely out of spite.* I know that's hard, and that it's very easy to become discouraged and feel trapped, but we keep being conditioned to accept our helplessness instead of become enraged and *do* something about it. That anger is a natural feeling, the elite who control society try to suppress it because it's the very thing that allows people to break the status quo.
At 14 you're still at an age where you'll be prone to those 'bouts of rebellion' but as much as adults dismiss it as petty or whatever, there's a *reason* why that happens; young folk are meant to be the catalysts of change when the world around them is stagnant.
Stay strong buddy. You're absolutely right in that you shouldn't be having to think about these things this early. But, when push comes to shove, please, I beg of you, hold onto a shred of determination to keep living, whatever the reason you can come up with. Not out of obligation to anyone else, but for your own sake. Because you're the only person you can ever trust to fight for yourself through thick and thin, and the world needs more people who have the courage to fight for themselves, who can show more than petty defiance. Fight to *live,* not just survive. If that means you have to abandon everything you've known to find somewhere safe to live someday then so be it, do it without hesitation. The opportunity doesn't need to be waited for, you can make it happen yourself when you've the courage to do so, the resolve to face the consequences of your decisions.
When you take flight with wings of fire you have to brace yourself to be burned, because if you stop flapping you'll fall.
But those wings can take you to anywhere in the world you want to go.

i would like to point out that the extra 27 cents that a big Mac costs in denmark is not to compensate for the increased pay to the workers, it's to make the numbers look nice on the price boards. They simply rounded to the closest whole DKK (danish money).
It's the same reason a LOT of items have prices styled like: x99.95, it's very much not because they need that 95 cents to break even or give them enough profit, it's to trick people into thinking it costs less than (x+1)00.00
So in reality, giving american McD workers propper pay should not even increase the price by 27 cents, as that would look weird on the price boards.

This is a bit long, but it's a positive post; another zoo that I think does a good job is the St. Louis Zoo (in St Louis, Missouri). The enclosures, especially for large animals, are larger than a lot of zoos I've been to, as well as they have areas for the animals to hide away if they don't want to be around people (including non-publicly-visible enclosure areas). There's a couple enclosures that are more of the old style zoo areas where it's more prison-esque, like the pictures in the video, however it seems like they try to use them as temp spots rather than permanent residences. The more intelligent animals like primates have some of the nicest living areas.
It actually has free admissions, so they don't really make a huge profit off of it. That can be an awesome experience for children and people on a budget to learn about and see different animals. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out, and since it's free, if you don't stay long it's not a big deal. They make most of their money off of donations and membership programs, and it does seem like it goes to actual conservation and animal education efforts. I believe it's a combination of a nonprofit and a government program, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
One of the fundraising programs that I love is the "animal adoption" program which is specifically to raise extra money to take care of the animals that reside there. You effectively pay to get a certificate as well as have your name associated with an animal in the zoo for a year, plus they give you a plush of the animal if they are able to find one. They also have tour days for people who've adopted one of the animals to go see the kinds of things the zookeepers do to take care of animals . It's honestly awesome as gifts for kids, because they'll love it as well as you know the money is going somewhere good. It's also very fun as a kid to go to the zoo and point at one of your favorite animals and say, "Hey, that's mine!"

With the one at 14:27 with the "ex-con" who missed his interview to save a life, I actually think that the "ex-con" bit IS important, not because I think anyone should demonise ex-cons, but because someone who has come out of prison arguably has more to lose by skipping a job interview (due to likely getting fewer opportunities to interview in the first place) than the average person... thus meaning that him willingly giving up this chance to better his own situation in order to help someone else is an enormously altruistic act.

Now don't quote me on this, but the USA could reduce their military spending by half and still be the highest percentage of where taxpayer money goes to. And with that half that's cut off, the tax money could fix healthcare, schooling, policing... pretty much anything AND still have a few million dollars left of change to give back to the people.

As a Tyoe 1 diabetic, i am FOREVER grateful that i don't live in the US... My insulin is free here in Sweden, so is most of my equipment. I have a glucose meter that i stick to my arm, and i pay nothing for those. The ONLY thing i have to pay for, is a new scanner, but that's $50, and i only need that if i don't want to use my phone sooo... Yeah.
A doctor's visit here is $20, but there's a limit on how much you need to spend a year, it's around $120 i think, once you reach that limit, it's free for the rest of the year. Like, if i went to the doctor on Feb 20, and i reach the limit in... June. It's free until Feb 20 the following year.
Dentistry is not free though, but i go to the dentist student clinic and pay almost nothing there.
