    Marchy IS what a Boston Bruin mentality needs to be . If we have a decent season . Sign by him to a 2-3 yr deal and let him do what he does best .

    Brad Marchand would pay the Bruins to keep playing in black & gold!
    This is a goooood question. He always said he wasn't going to take more AAV than Patrice. I see a performance bonus contract... this season is going to determine the rest of his hockey future.
    I like what Marchand represents in a hockey player.
    Always trying to get better- never satisfied.
    Not sure he's actually ever going to recover from his hip surgery - I've noticed his shorthanded goals and biggest spurts of energy happen at the beginning of games lately... When his hips are fresh and ready to salsa.
    But the way he has come in as a 71st draft, it wasn't automatic magic for him - most newer fans don't get it - they think he was a top draft pick.
    The boy has grown up into a man!
    We all know we're watching puberty on ice!
    And his wife wants him to stay playing!
    Imagine having that around 24/7!
    😮
    Good stuff. This is indeed a very good question
    Thanks for the review.

    Love Marchand, but at 35 years old and coming off a surgery from a year ago, I don’t know how much quality hockey is left in the tank? I’d be careful with the length of years to an extension.

    they have to keep Marchy at all costs!he probably has 3 more years at the most.the need to start drafting top scoring wingers and get rid of sweeney who has traded away so many high draft picks.a new GM is desperately needed as they don't know a thing about talent or taking the best players.most like only all defensemen.still listening to harry sinden's bs that defense is most important.

      @@bruinsdiehards yah i mean ever since the 2011 playoffs in he's been a permanent first line player and isn't slowing down despite his age. He's been almost a point per game his whole career and i feel like he would've had the conn smythe trophy in 2019 had he and the bruins won game 7 in the 2019 finals instead of the blues. And i as a caps fan personally wish chara had stayed in boston for 1 more year but i understand he wanted a bigger role than he had in 2019-2020 and about stamkos, i think he was willing to take a significant discount to stay in tampa like i think he was only asking for like $4.5-5 million which would've been fair. Offering a 8 year $3 million deal then walking away without any further effort is a bit disrespectful knowing he wouldn't take a term as long as 8 years or a salary as low as $3 million. 8 years is too long of a term and $3 million is too low a salary for someone of his caliber. It isn't the fact that he left its how he left with the very little effort and transparency the bolts gave. if they wanted to move on they could've just said so so it wouldn't look as bitter or antagonistic, if i were them i would've given maybe 3-4 ears for $5 million maybe like he i think was requesting. Sorry for the long message just lots to dissect on what you discussed.

    What they offered Chara was insulting. They offered him a slot as a 7-8th dman. This was after the previous year him playing 2nd or 3rd most ATOI. All he wanted was to be an every day nhl. He didn't mind being bottom pairing minutes. He just wanted to play. And he was an everyday player the next year. Had himself a decent season and was also good in the playoffs. The Krug situation seems like it played out the same as the DeBrusk situation. The team offered him a take it or leave it deal. In Krug's case it was before the season even began. They didn't take those deals and kept trying to negotiate. But the Bruins stuck to their guns. It was take it or leave it and it was left. So those guys all parted ways. I get why they did it. But those sorts of ugly transactions can have lasting ramifications. For example Krug's agent is the same guy who reps Swayman. It's entirely possible part of the constant issues in signing Swayman for Boston could be that agent taking hardline stances. Him making taking it or leave it offers and not negotiating.

    • @bruinsdiehards
      @bruinsdiehards  2 місяці тому +2

      I think the offer for Chara was fair but it is what it is. As I mentioned Chara will go down as one of the best to ever play for the Bruins but he wasn’t a top pair anymore. Swayman’s agent does this with every team and a prime example is the Nylander holdout in Toronto.

    • @exturkconner
      @exturkconner 2 місяці тому +1

      @@bruinsdiehards He didn't want to be a top pair anymore he wasn't asking to be. I said that. He just wanted to be an everyday player. He was fine with getting bottom pair minutes. What they offered him money wise was fine. Them offering him being a 7-8th dman who'd play occasionally was not.

      @bruinsdiehards  2 місяці тому

      I never said you didn’t. I only gave my opinion. All I know is he was offered a deal from the team but you right it was to be bottom pair but rotate with Miller. I still think that is fair based on his play IMO

      @@TheFoolintherainn Yeah. Like I said Chara wanted to continue to be an everyday player. The Bruins offered him being a depth guy that wouldn't slot in every game. He wasn't that yet. And he proved that in Washington the next year.

    I will gladly take him back on a 2-year deal with a one-year option. It doesn't matter what his past contracts were if he wants to win another cup he's going to have to take less money, I would say a contract of 3 million to 4 million dollars I'd be fine with anything more than that and I think you're wasting money on him that could go to younger players
