they have lost two games in a row letting up 4 goals or more, they 25th on the PP at 15.2%, there PK is 19th in the league at 77.5%, they lead the leauge in PIM 110.
The team leaders in PIM zadorov, McAvoy, Pasta, and Marchand.
The slow starts, lack of scoring, and just general lack of energy is all on the coach.
I know that monty is not a screamer or hard nosed coach, but at some point he needs to light a fire under the players asses.
Pasta has 2 goals and 12 pim, most of his penalities have been lazy or in the O zone. His lazy play is I think just adding to the bruins issues.

monty should be wearing an asbestos suit these days with a kevlar cup and one of those new bowling ball NFL helmets. when everything falls apart, and i think most reasonable fans would say everything has fallen apart with this team, all you have left is the coach. monty is being exposed right now for having nothing. he's used the yelling at the star card. they've done the " everything is great. we're good. " interview. next up is bench a couple of guys or a trade ( zadorov for a forward ), but it looks to this 60 year NHL observer that monty has lost the locker room. if the jacobs family actually cared about this team's performance, they'd axe the entire front office team -- neely, sweeney, and monty. there are worse franchises for management, but this ain't nashville. this ain't columbus, or anaheim. this is effin boston and mediocrity was never acceptable until the jacobs family bought the team. even in the bad old days, if you were going to beat on the bruins, they were going to beat on you. this is a team full of soft bunny wabbits who want epic money for no check play.

you are half right, ben. it is up to the players mostly, but when your players aren't super talented, like the Bs, coaching is what you've got left. what you are seeing now is a confused team from top to bottom. the players are running around and running into each other. they are mentally sloppy or indifferent. the coach isn't fixing anything and it looks like the players have tuned monty out. contrary to the marchy / monty hugfest before the game, there is ill feeling in the room about a half assed coach taking it out on a guy who almost always tries pretty hard. the proof is in the pudding. there is no more " down " to go since that tantrum. they are terrible in every phase of the game and they are flatter than a squirrel on 93.

haven't you seen enough ? monty cranks out an NHL regular season for the ages two years ago, but then " coaches " one of the all time epic chokes in NHL history. they could barely beat a limping leafs team in the first round last year and then they get rag dolled again by the panthers. i cannot imagine a worse team in the league right now because they just got bent over by a winless team in a shutout curb stomping, followed by more embarrassing hockey at home. yes, it can only get better, unless it gets worse or stays the same, but monty does not appear to be the coach that brings you to the next level. he's not coaching disciplined play into them. he's not holding anyone accountable. no one is listening. we've seen his playoff performance. monty is not fixing anything. the problems just keep piling up and laying there in a growing mess.

@@bruinsdiehards thank you for the thoughtful reply, mr. die hard. but i have to ask you, do you think monty is doing any actual coaching -- as in teaching ? when one of your special teams is struggling, most coaches will work on it in practice until the chronic mistakes start to clear. it may or may not bear fruit, but at least you will see mistakes being fixed. for example, why does my butt clench up so bad every time i see the bruins try to use that ridiculous PP zone entry when they get to the line, but then pass it back to the last guy, who is moving forward quickly ? it is a recipe for disaster and it doesn't seem to help in any way. all you get is all 9 skaters at the blue line together. but the Bs are especially bad at it, comically so. last night another keystone kops breakaway giveaway. why do we see the Bs make the same mistakes from month to month, to year to year ? either the coach needs to teach it, or they need to forget it. do you see monty bringing even a better Bs team to the conference finals, or a cup win , based upon the back to back playoff disasters the last two years ? i don't think monty could have coached the 76 canadiens ( the team that held the regular season record before the Bs broke it ) to a cup because he really has only a negative history. he wasn't available by mistake. the 76 habs had scotty bowman. he made an awesome team consistently great and juggled big personalities under the hottest klieg lights. switch the two coaches. we pretty much know bowman could help this team because he brought every team he was involved with to the next level. can you see monty doing what scotty did with the 76 habs ? of course not. they would have locked him out of the locker room. what it comes down to is what gives you a reason to expect monty to improve now, when he has no past record of overcoming adversity ? ( and please don't cite the regular season record from two years ago. he had two top goalies, many veterans still at the top of their game, and the front office went all in, mortgaging the future for a cup run. he set the regular season record, beating up on 50 loss teams, and then drove the bus into the ditch in the epic playoff choke. ) i respect your patience with monty, but i've seen enough.

I think some of the "star" players need to sit out a game. put McAvovy, Pasta, Zadorov in the press box for a game and maybe that will light a fire under them.
I see every game McAvovy is just a turn over machine, or he goes for these big bent over hip checks at the totally wrong time. He tries to play like he is Bobby Orr but just turns over the puck.
Pasta 2 goals 6 penalities in 5 games is just bad there is no other words. He is the "star" of the team but refuses to back check, gets caught playing lazy almost every game. The bruins problems are far too many to list right now. And the whole "lots of new faces" excuse doesn't work anymore. Penalty trouble and turnovers are the most glaring issues (along with both special teams), but you also have lots of guys just flat-out not performing. Coyle, Geekie, Marchand, Brazeau are all off to terrible starts. I'd also even loop Zacha in the bunch. Marchand is definitely starting to show his age, and his recovery timeline from the 3 offseason surgeries are definitely playing a role. While I agree that Monty changing the lines almost every period over the last 9 games doesn't help; I think we are finally at a point where the undeniably poor drafting from Sweeney, and his willingness to trade first round draft picks is finally taking it's toll. Boston has been graded as having the worst prospect pool for at least the 4th year in a row; and if you are going to trade a Vezina winning goaltender (especially to a division rival) the draft pick you get back needs to be higher than mid 20's. The likelihood of that prospect actually hitting is less than 10%.
Lastly, I'll say the "leadership" of this team is completely gone. The Bergeron/Chara leadership and willingness to take significantly below market value in order to field a competitive team are gone. Sure, McAvoy and Pasta probably took less than market value, but not nearly to the degree Bergy and Chara did. And then the Swayman contract just proved that most players on the team now are out for themselves. As long as they get paid, they don't care if the team is good; and Bergy was never about that. Each passing year since he retired, the culture of the team is changing for the worse.

I think you hit it directly on the head. There’s no “chemistry” on these lines (except the 4th line). If Montgomery constantly changes the lines throughout the game you're not going to get the chemistry needed. Other than a few new additions, these guys have played together and succeeded. I cant figure it out. At least Zadorov didn't have a penalty. Marchand isn't the player he was a few years ago. He's still a solid player but, i wonder if "time" is catching up with him? he is 36.

For the love of god, STOP switching the line combinations! These guys are basically playing on a new team every game. Pick the lines and finally say “This is our team” and be done with it. Let the players get used to each other. Switching a guy from line to line during a game isn’t going to do much. The game was manageable until the second period when Swayman was in a shooting gallery. They played better hockey when they stayed out of the box. The penalty kill and turnovers are going to doom this team unless “the details” are cleaned up. I’m not used to seeing this team so lifeless on the ice and looking dead inside when they’re doing media interviews. Wins make everything better and the Toronto game will, in my opinion, be the make or break for this team and Montgomery. They’re not really chasing their division rivals quite yet but this game is must win if they want to turn it around.

I am finding myself shutting the tv down when they get behind. In previous years as a fan you thought the team has a chance to tie and win. Not this season so far. I do think the buck stops with Montgomery. The line changes need to STOP! I feel Swayman is trying to find his way and is a little lost without his side kick. The DEFENSIVE PAIRS in front of him have been terrible!

Well, if Monty is the problem, how different was he from Bruce Cassidy? Are these Bruins a bunch of snowflakes that go fetal and suck their thumbs when a coach admonishes them?!! Well if it's the coach, let's get on with it. (Do we all remeber when Paul Maurice was ripping his entire bench during the playoff)? They got over it, didn't they? Is Monty the new Babcock, perhaps? NOW, I think Pasta is a nice guy. But Idon't care if he gets 50 goals this year, if he's causing 75 against, it's a problem! Send him to Providence for a couple of months and give Tyler Johnson a chance. Having sdsaid that it seems like the entire team is ina funk from the get-go. Fix it!
