  • I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THIS MATERIAL, ALL THE RIGHTS GO TO MADONNA AND RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE.
    I'm a big Madonna fan. Therefore, I was really happy with the rusical episode, and I caught all the references. But not everybody knows all the things about Madonna shown there, so I thought about making this to teach the children. Really search her after this, it's amazing what you'll find, she is an incredible artist, an icon, with an impressive resume hahahahah

      Challenges like this make you see they tried to come up with fair parts for each contestant and that they were creative and put effort into it. Like wtf was that black panther challenge in season 11 and that bridesmaid one in all stars 3. Hated challenges like that they were so mass produced and rushed and stupid.

      Jay Charles • 203 years ago she manipulated young men through cat fishing for up to years at a time . She made them film things for her and quit their education and jobs for a supposed theatre role. She had an alter ego named Alison. She was carrying out this behaviour even to the day before she issued an apology saying she regretted how she “used to behave”. The only time she took a break from this constant manipulation was when she went on drag race then picked it right back up when she got home. It really is despicable behaviour, the more you look into it the worse it gets.

    • @avasburner
      @avasburner 4 роки тому +7

      Jay Charles • 203 years ago she also caused some of the victims to take steroids and send in videos of them indisposed for “their role”. She is now practically banned from being in the drag business again as her name is now permanently blacklisted and tainted with her crimes (i doubt people will ever want to work with her again.) she deserves it.

Everyone of those artists are madonna fans from: superbowl performances to collabs videos with baby dads, from rap to rhythm and blues( If they admit it er not). Even modern new artists. Madonna was 2020 back in the 80s. Only one who hasn't copied madonna's is Mariah Carey but since madonna is such the trend setter maybe she had. I think it's a generational thing. Am 30, and us millennials usually love the Confessions era. But when you actually recall that era (her photoshoot as a housewife feeding chickens, the messy marriage with Guy, the fact that Hung Up sampled a 70's anthem instead of introducing an actual new beat), it was all seen as a sort of downfall for her. So for the generation before ours (X), the Confessions era was too much of a denial of the rebellious, sexy, and overly spiritual Madonna of the 80s and 90s. I'm assuming you're Brazilian like am, and, if that's the case, I clearly remember there was a community on Orkut called "Madonna, Turn Back into a Whore" ("Madonna, volte a ser puta") because many people just wanted her to remain an icon for freedom. Again: I love the Confessions era, but compared to what older fans witnessed (including Michelle and Ru), Confessions on a Dance Floor does fade into the background of a controverse-oriented career.

  • @pddroo
    @pddroo 4 роки тому +18

    I just realised something from reading other comments: hommages like the Rusical - just as this video compiling all references - are very important to introduce Madonna's incredible repertoire to newer generations.
    Although I was fascinated by Madonna since probably around 7/8, when I watched her in Me Against The Music, pop culture mainstream media played a huge part in my acquaintement to her work over the years. (There's a very cute video in my family archives where I'm recorded at my mother's b-day telling her "I wanted to see her dancing the Madonna song, which was the next on the playlist" 🥰)
    Back in the early 2000s, other than the Britney feat., I just knew Die Another Day and Confessions singles because I watched the videos on Tv.
    In 2007, The Devil Wears Prada introduced me to Vogue and, searching UA-cam, I learned about Erotica at a stretch. I loved the high energy and self-empowerment Vogue awakened in me.
    Then, in 2010, Glee made me keen on many of Madonna's early 80's songs!
    Over the years, I got to discover and rediscover a lot about M. and I'm really glad pop culture vehicles helped me do it, because I got to gradually understand and fully admire the star quality and groundbreaking work of Madonna. Hope this Rusical can have the same impact on people!!!

    The fact this video is a thing makes me feel old already lol. It's sad that the younger gays don't know how influential she's been in terms of pop culture AND gay rights. They literally think Gaga was the begining of the gay rights movement lol. The reality is that Madonna was probably the first and most powerful celebrity to explicitly support the gay community at a time when gay men were dying in droves. She fought against ignorance and hate and bore the brunt of the criticism at a time when it was not socially acceptable to support gays.

      It's not even that young gays don't understand the references, it's that it was so meticulously made, that some of this references would fly over people's head. The dance moves, some of the movie jokes... And also, people from different countries, I'm 21, and I only had access to Madonna when I was 13, and even that, my access was very limited, because I didn't spoke English at the time, and my family was(and still a little bit) conservative. So it can be a little complicated for some people

      I agree. You can feel the mix of pain and confidence in Gigi's performance, just like Madonna was in Papa don't preach, she was playing a character. For me the best Madonna portrayals were Gigi, Jan (playful), Crystal (ethereal and insane hahahaah), Sherry (classy), Jaida (sexy) and Widow (bad bitch classy), in this order. The others lacked the Madonna era. Heidi was Heidi (she was supposed to be a bad bitch trashy, to me she was too girly), Jackie and Brita kinda misunderstood their Madonnas (Jackie was to cute when she was supposed to be sassy, Brita to happy when she was supposed to be badass)
      BUT nobody did bad. That's why I liked this rusical so much, they had to really pick the least good, not the worst

    There is an interesting moment: when Gigi Goode is lifted up by the dancers. That was taken and modified (due to the ingenious landing back to the ground via a back flip) from this video:
    ua-cam.com/video/LZvxmflwghA/v-deo.html (see 3 : 22)
    which is correspondingly a interpretation of Madonna's Like a Prayer concert choreography, like this one:
    ua-cam.com/video/8t_S-B6P7XM/v-deo.html (see 3 : 00).
    So, in Madonna's "original" video, she is lifted by a single dancer, then, in Jimmy Moore´s impersonation, she is lifted by a group of dancers, and now Gigi Goode is lifted by a group of dancers, with the novelty that she returns to the floor with a back flip.
    In addition, there is another part, in the sequence performed by Gigi Goode, when the whole group moves together and very close to each other, from left to right of the stage), which has also been taken from the Like a prayer:
    ua-cam.com/video/8t_S-B6P7XM/v-deo.html (see 4 : 00)
    The genetics of pop choreography.
