Apparently in an interview with Betty, she said that when Thorgy saw all the kimonos she wanted to quickly make a different outfit but the producers wouldn't let her. So they encouraged the whole kimono situation for drama. Big surprise there

Taylor Ferguson So around the time the episode aired, thorgy spilled some tea at a viewing party in NYC. Supposedly the two people they had answering the questions were just SOOOO bad at it. So incredibly unfunny with the poorest answers! Ru stormed off and was YELLING at the production team telling them that this isn't going to work. Why are these people here, snatch game is going to be ruined etc. Then came back and they filmed the rest =x

Any Madonna fan had to be totally disappointed. Madonna has been around since my mom was 5, and has had more looks than any other performer out there. I've seen every video she's done. I can't believe there was 4 kimono's. Acid Betty won this for me. You know Venus Delight was home laughing at all of them rolling around in her costumes. 😂

I mean, every album has at least 1 iconic look; Lucky Star, Like a Virgin, Material Girl, Open Your Heart, La Isla Bonita, Express Yourself, Vogue, Erotica, etc, etc. I love Nothing Really Matters but seriously, there was very little creativity. Acid Betty definitely had the best concept and I have to give poor Chi Chi an A for effort; she really tried to do something different even if she kinda missed the mark.
Derrick looked like she was wearing a bathrobe and holding a Madonna towel in each hand.

How can you screw up a Madonna challenge? Madonna literally has more looks than any other musician/singer in the world. She's been around for over 30 years. These Queens are sad for only having one reference to such a diverse icon.

Does anyone remember when Project Runway had a drag queen challenge, back in the fucking day? Well, Acid Betty was one of the "models" (I KNOW RIGHT), and her designer made her _a red kimono_. I shit you not. How funny would it have been if she had worn it? Plus, it would've been the _second time_ she presented it on a runway to RuPaul, because Ru was the guest judge for that episode. It most certainly was not. Even the unfunny ones in this snatch game were just boring but not second hand embarrassment bad (Max, Milk, Kenya, Gigli, Phi Phi, most from season 3 and 2). I actually thought Kimonogate was hilarious. It didn't make for a good Madonna tribute but it made for a good runway moment.
Really? Nothing tops the cringe factor for me than Kenya Michaels doing Beyoncé, Jiggly doing Snooki and Phi Phi's Lady Gaga. That was an all around mess

Ignoramus Grouch, I get that. However, for it to be a MADONNA-themed runway and taking all of her iconic looks into consideration, you have to say this was highly disappointing. The looks weren't bad, I just expected more than having half the cast do the same Madonna look. That's all.

I feel Raja's frustration with these runway looks. Four kimono looks...I thought that was ridiculous, although I liked Thorgy's and Kim Chi's (I wish Kim Chi's corset fit, and that it had been laced much tighter, though, to really cinch in the waist.) If I'd had this challenge, I would have done the 18th century look from the " Vogue" performance on MTV in 1990, or the "Frozen" video look.
Raja fucking SHOULD BE a guest judge in RPDR, specially in this Madonna runway episode!! Lord, it would be extra!

Thorgy, Kimchi, Derrick and Naomi should perform Nothing Really Matters on the finale and auction those kimonos for charity and pen a letter of apology to Madonna, to Raja, to Venus, to Michelle, to RuPaul and to the fans of the show.

Am I the only one who really hated Derrick's kimono? Sure, the sleeves were great..but I feel like it was WAY too bulky everywhere else and just didn't fit her well at all. Kim Chi had the only fully decent kimono look.
