How to import a motorcycle from USA to Canada
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
- Motorcycles in the USA tend to cost a lot less than they do in Canada, so here's how to import a motorcycle from the USA to Canada and save a lot of money.
BASED ON THE ARTICLE:
www.youmotorcy...
I've broken it down into seven steps:
Step 1) Make sure the motorcycle you want to import from the US to Canada is allowed in Canada
Step 2) Know the rules so you can know how to save money
Step 3) Know what you’re getting yourself into
Step 4) Do the paperwork
Step 5) Get insurance (if riding it)
Step 6) Transporting your motorcycle (if not riding)
Step 7) Crossing the border
Step 8) What to do in Canada

for almost all states, out of state buyers don't pay state taxes. You pay taxes in the province you register it. You will pay GST at the border and any provincial tax when you register.
Good tip, thanks for clarifying that :)
Thank you for this valuable video. Do you know the procedure of importing a bike from Japan to USA?
Not a clue, sorry Kalinga
thumbs up for the Kramer in the background lol. btw, do you know any companies that would insure Canadians with an international driving license?
Hahaha. Thanks! Do you also have a domestic license, or the international license only?
@@YouMotorcycle I only have a Canadian M2. So I found out that Progressive will insure you with an Ontario licesense. But I'm not sure, If I can get the bike registered with a foreign license. I'm going there this month so will find out. Harley's are so much cheaper there and they are everywhere.
If you have a Ontario M2 than you have a domestic license so why not get insurance with that?
Thank you to share the tutorial about import the bikes....would you have a specific site that you look bikes at USA ?
This is a better question for an American :) I've only been interested in making that trip if it was for something really special usually found in forums, Facebook groups, etc.
Thanks for sharing this information. Do you know if I am importing a vintage bike (older than 15 years) I would be required the recall letter too?
I can't remember one way or another to be honest, sorry!
What do you know on importing a frame only from the USA to Canada…..particularly in to BC
I would call up the border I'll be crossing at and start with asking them
Thanks for the info. We've had the provincial inspection done and Canadian Tire has told us that they do not inspect motorcycles. Is this something new?
Could be location dependent or could be something new. I'm not sure and I don't have any affiliation with Canadian Tire.
@@YouMotorcycle Thanks! We will check with the provincial registry office next week.
is it possible to import honda ct125 into canada, its not marketed for canada. but that RIV site says all honda US model is ok to import?
The site knows better than me!
How are you, beautiful person? I want to import a Suzuki tank from Canada to Saudi Arabia
I want you to buy it for me, ship it, and I will give you your fee
No thanks, but good luck. Let us know how it goes! :)
Have you ever imported motorcycle from Canada to US
Nope, I'm in Canada, sorry. Typically though, you guys tend to have a lot more options down there, so your odds of finding a deal south of the border are probably better.
Can we contact you to get assistance in importing the motorcycle? do you have a consultation fee? or service fee?
Sure, you're welcome to reach out to me through the Contact page on YouMotorcycle.com: www.youmotorcycle.com/contact-us
Never heard from you guys, I'm assuming you changed your mind?
@@YouMotorcycle sorry, the deal didn’t go through :(
No worries. Better luck next time!
The info you provided is quite jumbled, you started by saying " If you want to ride your bike into Canada, then do this, ...", But then on step 8 you said that once in Canada you wont be able to ride the bike until you send in Form 2 and this can take days. So that's kind of bad info. Also in the U.S. you can obtain an International driver license very easily. I did it 4 years ago when I went to Switzerland. You need to check your info before posting,... just saying. Lots of people gets stranded at the border with vehicle they cant bring in because of bad info.
I haven't watched this video in three years since it was published so I don't know what you mean, but if the key message of your comment is "You need to check your info before posting" I just want to point out that, yes, as an American, YOU can get an international driver's license very easily... however, Canadians looking to get an international driver's license will not.
That being said, if you're certain that you're more knowledgeable and can better communicate information on this subject better, than you should make a video doing that to help other riders out. Lots of people gets stranded at the border with vehicle they cant bring in because of bad info, so you should make your video to help them as soon as you can.
@@YouMotorcycle I don’t pretend being a UA-camr, and if I did I would definitely research the subject before misleading people. I actually have a real job, I don’t need to pretend knowing more than others just to put content out.
@@RZ500G35 If pretending to know things "just to put content out" was my end goal, why would I choose a tiny niche topic like importing from US to Canada, when the vast majority of people on youtube, my audience included, are US-based and uninterested in that topic? Your argument doesn't make any sense. If you're really about helping others, why not help others, rather than complaining?
@@YouMotorcycle where did you get that I came here to help people? I’ve never made that claim!!!!
@@RZ500G35 No, you made the claim that canadians can get their international driver's license in a foreign country, which is completely incorrect and made me giggle because you were crying about me having inaccuracies in my video lol
You gave good info but you made this video five months ago and there’s been the border shutdown to crossing for non essential persons! This is a non essential situation! So , maybe another video would help me and many others if you informed us about a broker carrier and shipping from NY State in particular cause they have a conflict between their federal and state governments when doing title searches! So I won’t give a thumbs up but you don’t deserve one down either
Hey Eddie. I only make videos on topics I have experience/knowledge on, so I won't be able to help you with brokers or shipping from the US to Canada.
The good news for you is, since brokers and carriers do their work for profit, compared to me who runs this channel at a financial loss because I enjoy helping motorcyclists do things themselves, I bet the businesses you want to learn more about will have no problem answering all of your questions.
@@YouMotorcycle I’ve already done my homework but such as you, I too aim to help fellow motorcyclists and appreciate your advice albeit come across somewhat defensive in which I had no intentions for this! Hence the reason for not giving a thumbs down!
@@eddiecook4882 sounds good. What did you discover in your homework?
@@YouMotorcycle
NYS you nee a MV-15 form filled out and sent to Albany DOT for your vehicle history etc
