Welcome back to Screen Tremble. The cast of Blue Bloods is finally speaking out on the departure of former cast member Amy Carlson and David Ramsey. The series’ main actors gathered for a panel discussion as part of New York’s PaleyFest on Monday night, where they touched on topics ranging from the divisive political moment to the magic of shooting those Reagan family dinner scenes. But it was when the topic of Carlson’s abrupt exit from the show came up that the cast got frank about the major changes being felt on set. In a statement posted to social media shortly after the season 8 premiere, Carlson stated that she “loved playing Linda” and was “so grateful to the Blue Bloods cast and crew.” Deadline reported that Linda being written out was Carlson’s decision and that she “felt it was time to move on.”
While Tom Selleck's Commissioner Frank Reagan is the most prominent name in the cast of the CBS series Blue Bloods, he is far from the only one. Following the story of the Reagan family as they intertwine with the New York police and associated forces in the city, the show is truly an ensemble piece, with performers such as Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan in its main cast, and recurring characters played by performers such as Whoopi Goldberg and Bebe Neuwirth. Prior to his role in Blue Bloods, Ramsey was part of the main cast in the short-lived NBC legal drama Outlaw. In 2012, while still recurring on Blue Bloods, Ramsey got another main role, this time on the CW series Arrow. Playing John Diggle, Oliver Queen's bodyguard turned confidante, Ramsey became an integral part of the show quite early on: he is the first person Oliver reveals his secret identity to, and as the channel's DC slate grew with the addition of other shows like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, Diggle's prominence also rose. While Oliver was looked at for guidance in the ever-growing team, it was Diggle whom Oliver turned to when he was lost.

Jennifer Esposito‘s departure was a huge loss to the show in my opinion. She’s such a fine actress & created a very strong character in Jackie. She was definitely Danny’s equal. While I enjoy Maria Biaz, no one can replace Jennifer‘s energy and timing. The show didn’t do right by her.
Linda Reagan's death should have been given another episode to be properly explained and for grief to be expressed.

She had the best very best chemistry with Donnie W, on Bluebloods.
The show should have done more with Linda's death(Maybe a flashback scene when the helicopter taking off...but not show the crash...but with a voice over of Danny getting the call of the tragedy...and a shot of the family at the cemetery the day of her funeral) I also feel the show should have at least filmed the entire wedding ceremony of Jaime and Eddy....not just her walking up the aisle....and then fade out with the guests clapping after the priest announces to everyone " I now present Mr. and Mrs Jaime Regan" ..and you see Jaime and Eddy smiling back at their guests...
Narrator talked too fast ruined it!
Blue bloods is amongst the best show on daytime TV anywhere.

linda mad bad choice of leaving , i mean its not like she was offered a big role, just stuggling with small roles here and there, she should come back for this was the role of her carrier, she was loved by fans and was a main character

I thought there was good chemistry between her and Danny. I think there could have been a great love story bringing the two then together after Linda's death. I like Baez to, but the chemistry isn't there like it was between Jackie and Danny.

The story about Linda dying in a helicopter crash is wrong too. Linda died when a gang that was enemies with Danny blew up his house in Staten Island. His sons got out. Linda was left inside and died in the explosion & fire.
I stopped watching when I found out Jennifer was sick and they wouldn’t work things out with her. She made a huge impact on the show and was perfect for her part.
So you expect over 100 cast and crew members to juggle their schedule to accommodate her? Not to mention getting filming permits in NYC isn't easy.
Her character needed more screen time. It's an important role. She couldn't give it. What else could they do?

I actually only started watching BB last season. After catching myself up I became addicted to it. It's funny how the industry feels it has an "unpopular" narrative voice because it represents the values and positions that people who don't live in NYC and LA share.
Yeah, so unpopular that it gets renewed for 13 years. And probably more.

I have watched every episode of Blue Bloods but the newer ones are too dark in the office or police stations rooms. Why have you chosen some dark lighting? Sometimes I just don't watch it but listen to it because I can't seen characters. Out side daytime scenes are OK. And it is not my TV..
You're right, very dark, especially Frank's house at night, can barely see anyone
She seems to have a problem. She had a problem with Gibbs on nice then it goes bad with Danny from Blue blood, then she gets sick ( sic ) Some people are just never lucky. What next.

Good show but kinda predictable. Franks pretty much gets his way and everything wraps up in a nice little bow around the dinner table.
I like everything about blue bloods watch it weekly watch all the reruns and I don’t care who plays who but it’s a great oh great show but it’s family oriented
Esposito is totally Italian, and not a Latino like Biaz. Both are good in a similar way.
Italians and Latinos are drinking the same kool-aid (cultural influences) in the different cups (both culture wise and ethnic wise)
Somehow, i think an Italian part ner has more of a grip on the part. Baez tries to act defenseless and girly. Not good.

Jennifer Esposito played the role of Detective more convincingly than Baez. Baez always acts like she has her hooks out for Danny, especially when there is another female on set. She seldom seems like a partner you would want for a lifeline; she's more like an anchor. In tight spots , she has seldom come across as a lifeline. Jackie jumped in with both with both feet minus the helpless female whine "Daaaannneeee'" Big difference without " Jackie" Jennifer. Truthfully Baez is on training wheels and timid. Comical ehe. She tries to be a badass. Nust my opinion. Wouldn't miss her.
I did admire Jennifer Esposito's acting. She complained about race swapping, Danny's first partner was a black man. Secondly they had different names so different characters. And she got a full season on NCIS. Another CBS show.

Aside from character exits, I also find the show's transittion from season to season to be choppy as well. Like Jamie and Eddie's wedding. We spend a whole season seeing the planning, but we don't even get to see the vows? Then Det. Diaz all of a suddeen has a baby in the season opener, but we see no pregnancy, no set up. It's either poor writing, or it's intentional. But why?
Jennifer left because of health issues nothing else.

The first two episodes for season 13 haven't been very good. The writers are running out of good ideas. Ratings will start going down.

Love Blue bloods but it’s getting predictable….Joe, Danny and Anthony magically always end up working the same case, Frank butts heads with Sid, Garret and sometimes Baker on how to handle a bad cop, Henry stuck in his back in the day we did _____ routine, Jamie butts into someone else’s affairs and drags Eddie into it, Danny is Danny, Danny, Joe and Anthony ask Erin for a favor on a case and she plays it straight and by the books annoying them….did I miss anything
Only thing you missed is Baker taking 30 seconds to close franks door, slowly standing there staring at frank as the door closes
Oh and frank and the archbishop, or frank and the mayor have some sort of friction
It appeals to the calm, family demographic…some Gen Z’s like it, too.

There are inaccuracies in this video. They got Jennifer Esposito’s story wrong. She couldn’t work full time because she developed celiac disease. I hated the dinner scene--the clink of silverware on plates...the grandpa's words of wisdom back in his day., Selleck's school of frown acting, Danny's constant anger. I liked Jaime--hated his wife, loved Nikki, but they gave her one line an episode-She was too good to keep her. Really disliked Selleck's assistant... Half the time they had to soothe his feelings.
