I sit here in the U.S., in front of the fire, having all my honey-dos completed, and one of my favorite restoration/repair videos pops up. What a nice Christmas present……hoping for the best of the best for you and your loved ones this coming year.
@@Justicesdad UA-cam became Facebook on August 19, 2024, following the name change of Facebook to Meta. UA-cam’s senior management remained in place, with the exception of Exeter Pithbone IV, who resigned from UA-cam to become the publisher of the “Journal for Excellence in Mediocrity”. I really do like the new direction your channel is heading! It helps me to have you explaining the "what and why" you do what you do and I've actually learned enough about Briggs motors from your channel that if I have a problem with one in the future, I'm pretty confident I could at least make an attempt at fixing it. Thanks for all you do man!
After seeing the video of your shop and resources, it makes the restoration work you do even more impressive. Before seeing that video, I assumed you were wealthy and had the nicest of every tool known to mankind. After seeing what you do with such modest supplies, it makes me feel totally lazy, lol. What you do is very impressive, and it is a pleasure watching you work.
Thanks for the rebuild! I know that from an economic view, the engine wasn't really worth a new crank, but at least you have a good obe for another mower! I have to say that I am really disapointed in the newer Briggs engines, you can see from this rebuild the lower quality of some of the parts. Prices however continue to go up! Thanks again and happy holidays to you and your family!
I had no doubt it would run perfectly in the end to mow the most mowed lawn in all of Christendom. Thank you and have yourself a Merry Christmas and a canny New Year!
James was my favorite till now when it comes to restoring small engines but i must say that's going to change now! Next time please include the torque specs as well 😊
I think what I enjoy best about this channel is how therapeutic this kind of content feels compared to the Farming Sim content that I've been watching for years on your main channel, not that I don't enjoy the Daggerwin Content, but this feels so wildly different and we get to see your skill set.
I've now been watching this channel for years. It's always enjoyable and I love the commentary. Why tho? I'll never rebuild a motor. I won't repair a lawn mower. I won't even mow my lawns lol. But it is strangely relaxing....
From across the pond. Wish I had this video 6 months ago. My friend, Liz and I repair like mowers. She finds them along the road as part of her job on a school bus. I retrieve them, and do the rebuild / repairs. Then Liz does the "hair and make-up" which really does sell them. She is originally from St. Ouen, Jersey, and we're both in our mid-70's. Narragansett Bay
On the other side of the pond here. Getting those valves in and out on that OHV looks soo much easier then on a flat head. I just had one I adjusted the valves . Unfortunately it didn’t increase the compression. It’s at about 50psi really needs to be at least 70psi to run and ideally 120psi
Have say I did not think I would like the 30 min video as your vids are typical longer, but I like the it. I know this type of video is far more time consuming to produce, but please continue as I throughly enjoy your rebuild, looking for to the next one.
Glad you are back. Was beginning to wonder... I'll bet it was Hedgey's fault - stardom has gone to his head and he demanded a luxury cruise in the Bahamas for a month or so.
Modern Engine = Modern-style repair video? 🤗 I really love your videos, especially the full restorations, and this one is no exception (I voted to restore!). One comment though - don’t speed up your voice - your voice is your greatest asset. Edit your script to be more succinct if you feel the need for the voiceover to be quicker. Your natural speaking speed is best! Merry Christmas from Japan!
Excellent Video Machinery Restore :) nice rebuild job to this Push Lawn mower also Merry Christmas 🎅 and Happy New Year 2025 too and hope Santa 🎅 Clause brings you to lots treats !
Is there anyway of contacting you personally, we are based near Portsmouth in Hampshire and have 100s of old garden machines that would be great restoration projects if you are interested
17:27 "I do like to also put a bit of lube in the bore", a bit!! It's more like you buy your Permatex Ultra Slick in a 50 gallon barrel and then decant it into the small plastic bottle we see on screen...🤣🤣🤣 Merry Cheiatmas to you and yours Mr Machinery Restorer. Thank you for all the excellent videos this year...🎄🎄🎄🎄☃☃☃☃🎅🏿🎅🏿🎅🏿🎅🏿
This was a amazing restoration on that engine I’ve definitely learning lots about engine rebuilding I did vote if I remember weeks ago to actually restore this engine because know that you have a complete restored engine your right if you find a mower with a blown engine but decent deck then you could make a decent mower It really did a very good job on your lawn looked amazing and sounds great lovely video daggerwin I’ve enjoyed watching you restore that engine I’m looking forward to seeing you do more restoration projects on this channel in the new year Merry Christmas daggerwin and have a wonderful week and a lovely holiday period ☃️🎄❄️🎄🎁👍
The engine was definitely worth saving, but not to use on that particular mower. Due to the expense, it was only worth doing if it is going to be used on a self propelled mower that is in good condition that will bring a decent price. In the southern US, that particular type of mower would only bring $60-$75 in good condition, so you have to put it on a more valuable machine to make it worthwhile to replace the crankshaft on it. Thankfully, that engine is powerful enough to use on any size deck.
Could it be, that the spring retainer for the valves are in the wrong position? I think the flat spot should be underneath the rocker arms, to prevent that the rocker arm will touch the retainer when the valve opens.
Has been getting far more common the last few decades as the pressure is to build cheaper. Some people say they are rubbish, but honestly they last as long as is needed (the rest of the mower has probably fallen apart before these parts fail) and are way cheaper to make. And people don't want to pay a cent more for their mower than they need to!
Love Your videos and videos and voice. You could be a good teacher when it comes tomtbegränsning voice part atleast.. keep it up both here and the gaming chanel
In the OEM vs aftermarket fight, I usually go aftermarket. Sure, there is a small difference in quality, but that difference does not match the difference in price. I recently had a seat failure in a Nikki carb on one of my riding mowers. This mower is 13 years old. The OEM carb was $170, and the rebuild kit was $61 and the needle and seat assembly had to be purchased separately. I purchased a new aftermarket carb for $18, and the machine is running great. When I can buy 5 aftermarket carbs for the price of rebuilding an OEM one, then I will just take my chances and buy aftermarket. There is no justification for charging as much as they do.
Just curious: what happens to the assembly oil? Can it mix and stay with the regular engine oil or has the "contaminated" engine oil to be replaced again?
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

Love the video! Even though the piston bore looked good I'm surprised you didn't hone it anyways. Thanks for posting!
I actually have this exact engine in my shed that needs fixing so this video is an excellent xmas present. Thank you so much

Nice work!
Every video, I wonder . . . just how many lawnmowers does one man need?
Great stuff to watch, though.
Nice rebuild
Thanks for the video, what was you out of pocket expense for the rebuild.
Merry Christmas to all.
Don’t forget to do an oil change on it, cause it’s gonna be a bunch of metal in the oil after you did the break in
Keep them coming!
"Worth" Maybe not financially
Cool enough for a video : HELL YES!
not sure the viewers actually care about the engine.. we just wanted more videos :P . Thanks for all your hard work and Merry Christmas!
Excellent.
I've got the 575ex are they just the same engine 👍👍 have a great Christmas everyone 🎄
Very similar just higher CC. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas. So how often do you cut your grass with the same mower twice?
You missed a seal under the govenor shaft and under the Reed valve there is a filter.

I've never seen plastic camshaft lobes before, is that common in mower engines?

How much was the new crankshaft?
ESA REPARACION DONDE VIVO YO NO LAS HAGO , PORQUE CONVIENE PONER UN MOTOR NUEVO
