I am glad that you took up this matter, Muzzammil . I have been traveling across India last week from Punjab to Delhi and then as far east as Patna. Every where I went , the smog situation was very bad. Unless vehicular emissions are drastically cut down we are heading for a disaster.

Well done Muzammil for a great coverage on almost every aspect of smog. A few years ago I tried to make rough estimates about traffic for private schools, I don't have that research with me but the average was around 7,000,000 km travel a day on private cars, which adds an expense to our fuel imports and contributes to pollution. In our school days, we used bicycles, we need to make our roads and streets safe for pedestrians and bicycles and make awareness for parents and policies that prevent parents from using private cars. Parents feel unsafe sending their kids in school vans (A new Pandora's box of pervert bus drivers and conductors will open). Apart from ignorance, that's one reason people prefer to pick and drop their kids by themselves. I wish you could highlight the used tires brickmakers have been burning for quite some time. This cheap fuel is also used in many small industries in Lahore. Great work, a big thanks for this video.👏👏👏👏

When I was a kid in Toronto, we used to get multiple smog advisories every summer. We were taught in school about how horrible the smog in Los Angeles, California used to be. River Themes in the UK used to be worse than Ganga river is today. The developed countries went through the same struggles. South Asians deserve better. We don't need to repeat the same mistakes when we already know what the end results are.

You are absolutely right that pollution and climate change related deaths need to be treated as a crime, which is why many people in developed countries are now talking about suing their governments for inaction. Its important to point out that these developed countries solved their problem not by caring about the environment, but by moving the manufacturing of their cheap and toxic goods to Asia which is why our pollution is so high. Would love to see the numbers on how much is caused just by garment manufacturing alone.

The smog in Lahore and Pakistan is mainly caused by the burning of crop residue in both Pakistan and India, like recently I saw few farmers besides the Highway, burning large amounts of agricultural waste. This smoke mixes with cold, moist air, creating smog, while local pollution from vehicles, factories, and brick kilns further worsens air quality, especially in the fall season.

I’m from Punjab 🇮🇳. Crop burning is illegal here and in last two three years it came down to around 40% . On our east side is Delhi, west is lahore , always wonders how are we causing pollution when Punjab’s cities are nowhere in the list of polluted cities.

Har call ka aur har message ka paisa kata jata tha. Ab mahine bhar ke liye sirf 199 se lekar 299 Tak ka recharge sab kaam ho jaata hain. Isme roj ka 1 se 1.5 gb data bhi toh milta hain. Ye sirf Modiji aur Ambaniji ki wajah se.

In lndia Diesel cars are registered only for 10 yrs and Petrol cars are for 15 yrs I had to sell my Toyota as it completed 10 yrs inspite of the fact that it had only 56016 kms and it's engine was SUPERB the car had no scratches on its body ,had to sell it to a KABARI for Rs 25000 Every car has to get a certificate of Polution control every 3 months As here every family has more than 2- 3 Cars as such cars are in good condition Had Pakistan maintained good relations with India They could buy all cars Benz , BMW , Audi , Vox wagen etc under Rs 50000 Fifty thousand rupees and could transport it to Pakistan and maintain their EMISSION LEVEL , In lndia , it's the vehicle manufacturer lobby which is creating pressure on Govt to discard cars more than 10 - 15 yrs

This situation needs to take a consolidated strict action against air pollution in south Asia region. India Pak and Bangladesh must jointly have to constitute a policy to fight agaist the bad condition of air quality.
Recently I was traveling from Chandigarh(east of punjab) to Amritsar(West of punjab). On the way i noticed from Chandigarh til Beas city. It was very clear and Air quality was decent. I did not see any crop burning alongside even though farmers were harvesting. But as I was getting closer to Amritsar the air quality started getting poorer and poorer. I was wondering why is it so! And later that day i saw in news that AQI in Lahore reached 1900. That moment i figured out that its not indian punjab polluting pakistan but actually it is the other way round. And i swear to my god i am not even exaggerating a single word

I may sound little off the track or foolish but some contribution to pollution also comes from our cooking habits which involves deepfrying and tandoors that emits smoke which we never consider as a part of pollution. I can tell from the fact that the moment cooking starts in my home, my air purifier starts showing AQI inside the house to 250 from 75. Considering huge population that lives in this region and number of kitchens, it can very well be a contributor to the smog phenomenon.
My research is on air pollution specific on south Asian countries, it's too dangerous and recently I have written research paper on this issue , hopefully it will be published very soon

I have been crying for the issue since 80s in Pakistan there is no concept of waste management , no concept of waste water dumping in rivers and when I came back in 2006 I saw clear signs of catastrophe of atmosphere i small sulphur dioxide no one even wanted to talk about it its very sad we’re killing our future and new generations!
Karachi has sea breezes year round,only in dec and january seabreezes are weak. Secondly karachi doesnt have agriculture around it for hundreds of miles therefore no crop burning. Thirdly karachi has huge sea on its 2 sides,and sea doesnt send polluted air. Fourthly india is 300 miles away and no pollution come from there. Fifth there is no cold weather in Karachi therefore NO fog and hence NO smog. BUT Karachi does produce a huge amount of pollution in the air,it just doesnt stay in the air and get dispersed. ❤❤

I’m from Punjab 🇮🇳. Crop burning is illegal here and in last two three years it came down to around 40% . On our east side is Delhi, west is lahore , always wonders how are we causing pollution when Punjab’s cities are nowhere in the list of polluted cities.

Har call ka aur har message ka paisa kata jata tha. Ab mahine bhar ke liye sirf 199 se lekar 299 Tak ka recharge sab kaam ho jaata hain. Isme roj ka 1 se 1.5 gb data bhi toh milta hain. Ye sirf Modiji aur Ambaniji ki wajah se.

In lndia Diesel cars are registered only for 10 yrs and Petrol cars are for 15 yrs
I had to sell my Toyota as it completed 10 yrs inspite of the fact that it had only 56016 kms and it's engine was SUPERB the car had no scratches on its body ,had to sell it to a KABARI for Rs 25000
Every car has to get a certificate of Polution control every 3 months
As here every family has more than 2- 3 Cars as such cars are in good condition
Had Pakistan maintained good relations with India
They could buy all cars Benz , BMW , Audi , Vox wagen etc under Rs 50000 Fifty thousand rupees and could transport it to Pakistan and maintain their EMISSION LEVEL ,

If that's does happen, if we don't open our eyes and ponder over such issues, then nature will revenge severly, which already has started doing that. And when nature revenges, it is too harmful.

Recently I was traveling from Chandigarh(east of punjab) to Amritsar(West of punjab). On the way i noticed from Chandigarh til Beas city. It was very clear and Air quality was decent. I did not see any crop burning alongside even though farmers were harvesting. But as I was getting closer to Amritsar the air quality started getting poorer and poorer. I was wondering why is it so! And later that day i saw in news that AQI in Lahore reached 1900. That moment i figured out that its not indian punjab polluting pakistan but actually it is the other way round. And i swear to my god i am not even exaggerating a single word

I may sound little off the track or foolish but some contribution to pollution also comes from our cooking habits which involves deepfrying and tandoors that emits smoke which we never consider as a part of pollution. I can tell from the fact that the moment cooking starts in my home, my air purifier starts showing AQI inside the house to 250 from 75. Considering huge population that lives in this region and number of kitchens, it can very well be a contributor to the smog phenomenon.
My research is on air pollution specific on south Asian countries, it's too dangerous and recently I have written research paper on this issue , hopefully it will be published very soon

I have been crying for the issue since 80s in Pakistan there is no concept of waste management , no concept of waste water dumping in rivers and when I came back in 2006 I saw clear signs of catastrophe of atmosphere i small sulphur dioxide no one even wanted to talk about it its very sad we’re killing our future and new generations!

Karachi would have been worse if it wasn't a coastal city
Karachi has sea breezes year round,only in dec and january seabreezes are weak.
Secondly karachi doesnt have agriculture around it for hundreds of miles therefore no crop burning.
Thirdly karachi has huge sea on its 2 sides,and sea doesnt send polluted air.
Fourthly india is 300 miles away and no pollution come from there.
Fifth there is no cold weather in Karachi therefore NO fog and hence NO smog.
BUT Karachi does produce a huge amount of pollution in the air,it just doesnt stay in the air and get dispersed.
