Well I would like to humbly disagree with you on the point you have made about the Pakistani establishment having no choice and they returned Abhinandan under pressure, that was certainly not the case, Pakistan returned your fighter pilot because that man was an active soldier and he was treated as per the LAW of Geneva Conventions otherwise If this was not the case then why didn't Pakistan returned Kulbushan Yadav? your Spy From RAW. As a Pakistani, I definitely agree that the Pakistani elite and the deep state have been proven to be catastrophic for us but Our army is the single most powerful functioning body of our state (which obviously hinders the prevalence of democracy ) even your Gaurav Ariya admits it that Pakistani army is the most powerful body of Pakistan and the book "The Spy Chronicles of RAW, ISI & the illusion of peace " by both of our spy chiefs. Your spy chief praised ISI as one of the most well-functioning Intelligence agencies within its resources and he admitted that Indian intelligence agencies never succeeded in convincing an ISI agent to work in their interest. In the end I will admit that we should learn democratic principles and the path toward homeland success from you guys because you guys have really earned it and we are currently failing at it. Sadly

Modi took a huge risk when he visited Pakistan, not just from his party but even opposition was annoyed. It is naive to think that foreign policy of India changes as govts change. There is a history of 60 years of proxy wars by Pakistan which nobody in India dares to disregard. Modi frittered away his political capital in order to start off on a clean slate with Paksitan. But of course how could Pakistan's real rulers allow their shops be closed down by peace?

@@parodyfied1053 brother if you go back long enough, you'll find it was Pakistan which was always adamant on starting conflicts with India. In 1947 Akbar Khan sent Qabalis along with soldiers of Pakistani army in Kashmir. Ayub Khan started the 1965 war, but ISI and Pakistani Army hid Operation Gibraltar and Operation Grand Slam from your country and only told you "shaatir hindu ne raat ko lahore par hamla kr diya" or something. In fact the war had already started By pakistan in Indian administered kashmir when India did this.
1971 was your own fault. India was backing Mukti bahini because what your army was doing in east pakistan was creating a refugee crisis in a poor underdeveloped India. Then you gave a India a reason to jump into the war by conducting Operation Chenghiz Khan. Even after this defeat, the pakistani army started this military doctrine called "bleed India with a thousand cuts".
1999 We all know this. Atal ji and Nawaz Sharif signed the lahore declaration but your Pervez Musharraf started infiltrated Kargil.

They were so blind in Muslim vote bank that they created a big void for majority and other minorities (Jains, Buddhist, Christian etc.) And BJP government filled that void.
Right now, BJP is doing what a party should do in democracy to win the election which is take majority in your side.
Moreover, there is a famous statement given by S. Jaishankar "You can't expect us to be on table by putting gun on the head." In which he clearly means that Pakistan government and army both have to think in single pathway that which is DONT DO CROSS BORDER TERRORISM and resolve the issue and that's the only option Pak army and government have.

If the tables were reversed and Pk was in a much better position than India, do you think they would have exercised such restraint? History shows otherwise. To be honest it was more exhausting for India to maintain relationship with Pakistan. It's much easier now to ignore Pakistan. However much India tried Pakistan always backstabbing India so its waste of our energy to maintain relations with Pakistan. It was Pakistan who ended trade with India.
Modi tried to have good relations when he first became PM. He invited Nawaz Sharif for his swearing in ceremony and also went to Pakistan to meet Nawaz Sharif but what we got? Lot of terrorist attacks. It's better now not to have much relations with Pakistan. India has long left its Pakistan centric foreign policy.
Biggest problem of Pakistan is its education policy. Most people are so radicalized that there is no hope for the country. Few sane people leave country and settle outside.
As a south Indian I don't have any connections to Pakistani culture. In a few years even North India will stop identifying with Pakistani culture whose ancestors might have connections to Pakistan.

India is just trying to do it’s own thing, if need be it will try to protect its own interests and isolate Pakistan at international level. Pakistan did not try to be friendly with India at any point of time, if it did not retaliate because it was not capable enough to..not that it did not want to. Modi coming to Pakistan he had a choice not to come to Pakistan.
Modi invited Pakistani PM on his first swearing in ceremony he had a choice not to.
In terms of other points you raised:
    1. Pakistan was pressurized to return abhinandan. Had they not returned there would be set of other military answers that'd be executed by the Indian Government and would lead to bigger scale of confrontation that Pakistan could not afford.
    2. Missile going into Pakistan case: it was Pakistan's diplomatic failure to round up support for a joint investigation. Because Pakistan has no geopolitical relevance anymore.
And on top of all of this goodwill gesture is initiating something good when either of the parties are not expected to happening of such a thing. But in both of cases mentioned it was expected rather the goal of Indian side to achieve this outcome. So they succeeded in it.

Look as an Indian I know when you or India tried to get the relationship good pakistan always backstab us.
And since imran Khan cut all ties we've been doing very well without worrying about you at all.
Now we're on the point that even if Pakistan have good relationship with India or not our goal is set.
So being friends is beneficial for pakistan and being a foe is a total loss. Choice is yours but even said that

Thanks Shehzad. I regularly follow your podcast and it feels good that people like you doing amazing job with such healthy discussions.
I want to ask Muzamil that with identity crisis and fall of Dhaka etc should Pakistan have never came into existence? I agree most of stuff you guys discussed.
Shehzad why you guys don’t do a podcast on this topic.
