    Love that attitude. It's okay to venture out a little if the weather is nice. That's why it's not called shore fishing. Calculated risk, with some adventure.
    This is identically what I want to do, so it's exactly what I want to see. I enjoy watching the guys with the big boats offshore. What you are doing here is infinitely more interesting for me. Love it. Love the technical details about how to go about it too. That's what I want to see.

      Thanks again for watching some more and leaving some great and much appreciated feedback. Sounds like you've landed in the right place. I take this little boat everywhere and do all sorts of stuff with it. First, I'm not by any means wealthy, so it makes the financial aspect of boating a little easier. Next, I've been on the water my whole life and learned how to be comfortable and understand the ocean, no land in sight, on a small vessel. For me, it's how I get around easier, and the more you watch of the channel you'll see, I can take on the true titans of the sea without a 35 foot $500,000 Everglades... LOL. I'm really just an average guy, with a passion for fishing and wanting to show how to go about it easily, so everyone can have some fun. Thanks again for your support, sincerely. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath, Happy Fourth of July to you and the family. That was a very complete "How to Troll" video. You touched all the bases and included where and when to troll. It looks like a great way to locate fish. I'm still trying to troll from the bank but I can't run fast enough. Hope you have a great weekend. Say "Hi" to Avi and the "Fishing Girls." Have fun and good luck, Mickey

      Hi Mickey. Same to you and your family. Hope your holiday was most excellent. Yes sir, I love trolling, I truly believe it's one of the best ways to find quality fish. You just have to learn some good foundations and have faith that they are going to work, put them into practice and get out there and do it. I truly love teaching trolling too. There's nothing like getting hooked up on the troll, it's gets people addicted to it. Please let know when your running up the beach tactic gets you into the bite... I'll be sure to get in touch with the IGFA and let them know about the first of it's kind world record. The kids all say "Hi Mickey". Thanks again for always being here, I always look forward to chatting with you. I'll talk to you on Thursday. Take care :)

I've been staying inside but I did get to the gun range on Friday. Hope the storm misses you and there's no damage. I always enjoy chatting with you and enjoy your videos. Say "Hi" to everyone and I'll talk to you on Thursday. Have fun, Mickey

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Hi Heath, I was going to mention a similar thing. I would love for you to do a quick blurb about the size of the seas, current, wind, you are in at the time so we viewers can get a feel for the conditions in a real way. Personally, we have a similar sized boat to yours and so I like to be able to get an understanding of the conditions I may face depending on the weather, seas, etc.
      Happy 4th to you and the family!

    Good content as usual. Ever try using a planer 10-15 miles offshore?
    Any benefit you think or stick to top water trolling?
    Btw have you been to True Value on Spanish river for tackle yet?

      Thanks a million for watching and always being here to support and bring some positivity the channel. I sincerely can't thank you enough for all you do. Yes, planers work great way offshore, mahi, wahoo, barracudas, thresher sharks, fish you wouldn't think are way down there hit them. If the bite is slow because the sun is scorching the surface, I'll drop one out and give a good try. No, haven't been to True Value for tackle... I'll have to stop by and check it out. Thanks again for everything. Hope you and your family had a great 4th. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Great videos.Have you ever used the rubber bands on the planer?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes, there are 3 different ways to troll planers. One is the traditional way I do it. The next, is a quick release bridle planer with a wind on leader. The last is the style you are referencing, where the planer is attached to an independent line and fastened to a cleat, your main line is then led down the planer line attached with a snap swivel & rubber band. I have done all of the tactics of many years of planer trolling. Yet I love the traditional style most. Might sound crazy, but it gives me some sort of primal, man VS fish feeling, hand lining in the leader. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    First! Great video as usual! Question for ya, do you think the penn us senator 113w is a good reel for planer trolling?

    • @ivanvazquez1432
      @ivanvazquez1432 3 роки тому

      The lever drag reels are bettet for plannet trolling because you can configurate the drag depending the planner size easily, the senator has a free spool button, and a star drag, so i would not recommend the reel for planners, if the senator has enough drag i think it is okey.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks a million for watching and and sharing your enthusiasm for the channel. I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Couldn't do this without you. Yes, Penn Senator 113w is a solid reel for planer trolling. However, it is a star drag reel, which means you'll have to learn how much to tighten it, so you won't get line creep as you're trolling, then you'll have to loosen it it, when a fish hit's so it can run. Granted lever drag reels are easier for planer trolling regarding this aspect, but that reel has been tested throughout time, it's brand is one of the original models of Penn conventional reels. Like I said, you'll just have to get dialed in on the drag system. But I'm sure you'll have a blast. Thanks again for everything you do for the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)

I wish I could have has simplicity. Thanks again for always being and making the channel what it is and will become. I couldn't do this without you. Sincerely. Tight lines & take care ;)

    I enjoy the education well presented. The bucktail jig, is it weighted? How far out do you fish it? Is it just a few feet down at say 150ft?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks a million for watching and asking some great questions. That particular bucktail jig was 1/2 ounce. I was fishing it out about 100 to 150 feet behind the but. When you troll it, it stays just below the surface of the water, only an inch or so. Fish are attracted to the single prey fish that has broken away from the pack and is an easy target. Don't have to troll it fast, between 4 and 6 knots.... catches everything. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel, I truly and sincerely appreciate it. any particular reason you don't use a wind-on bridle?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. I do use the quick release bridle planer sometimes... But more often than not, I'm old school, and really just love hand lining in the fish, call me crazy, but I get a true primal man VS fish feeling from bringing them in that way.... Sort of puts me in touch with the fish, and I can feel what they're doing and how they are reacting. I also, believe this to be the most basic way to showcase planer trolling to get newcomers into it and not unnecessarily complicate things. Hope this helps. Apparently to keep skipjack tuna requires a HMS permit...

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks a million for watching and leaving some great feedback. You are correct. Lucky me, I worked for a commercial fishing company M&M Fishing who retained the HMS permit, and they previously owned my boat, which was tagged under their fleet... So I'm grandfathered in to that. Honestly though, skipjack are so abundant that they shouldn't be regulated. I just think they haven't gotten around to do a population study on them, which is why they are on the ancient HMS list. Thanks again for sharing the info and supporting the channel. I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing I figured you knew. I was mainly pointing it out for others on here that didn't because I can assure you that these days FWC is using any and all available options to issue fines. They are working with NOAA as well and are filing reports of incidents which they then send to NOAA for review. From there NOAA has seemingly endless ability to fine you based on how they feel about the information they're given from FWC. These days, the only real protection we have is preparedness and some of these regulations aren't exactly on the front page of the FWC or NOAA website. Take it easy.
