That’s so true 🩷🩷🩷 if it feels right to you then always go ahead, thank you lovely 🙏🙏🙏
So I typed two of my style words “tomboy” and “elegant” into Pinterest as per your suggestion, worrying that I might not find any outfits for the combination. Instead I have found a new style phrase that perfectly describes a significant part of my style - “tomboy femme”! Thank you- this is so helpful
Oh yay that is so good! 🙌 I'm so glad it was helpful. 🙏🙏🙏xx
Nice combinations. I remember the boho dress combo with the "edgy" boots from my teen years. I think it was done quite a lot actually.
I'll never understand YT and what took your channel so long to show up in my feed. Love this! You provide real-world, accessible examples for those of us on a budget. High/Low is everywhere in magazines and runways, but to pull it off is an art. Throwing together the wrong top with any pair of jeans can easily look like a Walmart shopper at 4 am and not high-end chic. Sequins don't automatically translate to "High/Low" as we know.😆Just subscribed and looking forward to your content!
Aw, such a lovely comment to receive. Thank you lovely! I'm glad the YT algorithm let you find me haha 🌼😋🥰 See you in the next vid xx
My favorite juxtapose is a graphic tee under a feminine kimono jacket. I also love your moto jacket over something feminine idea.
Ooo I love this! I have these two items and have never tried this combination before! 🙏 thank you 🩷
I really love your style and your styling tips!! As a busy work-from-home mum, it's easy to feel stuck in a style rut. Your videos have given me the motivation to have fun with my clothes and look stylish
I love pairing chunky sneakers with an elegant and feminine skirt, such as a slip skirt or pleated skirt. Top it off with a tee shirt and a jacket, like a blazer or denim jacket, and you've got a really cool look!
I love this look as well 😍😍
My style inspiration is 1920s classic tailored. Specifically the Katherine Hepburn look which is classic and timeless. She never got it wrong, and my favorite juxtaposition is thin socks and sandals with a one or two inch heel with a day dress, or wide trousers. I wear the trainers with wide trousers as well. Thank you for this video 💖👏
Anyone as slim and beautiful as you are can wear ANYTHING and look great! Thank s for your tips.
🙏🙏 aw thank you and thank you for watching ❤️
yes but I think any figure would look stylish in these outfits
SO GREAT to find a fellow Aussie you tube channel! Everything is so much more relevant! I've only watched this one, but have already subscribed. Love that you're succinct with info and have a great speaking voice. Looking forward to following you Emily. Well done! 👍
Love this style idea.
Glad you enjoyed xx
Love to wear my jeans with a more “glamorous” shirt as you did. Adding the jewelry and heels is also my signature. Love all the outfits u put together. Will be subscribing for more tips! Thank u!
Great video!
I specially create juxtapositions by choosing diffenernt and unecpected shoes, that's an easy and simple way to make an outfit interesting.
I love the feminine with the edge 🙂
Great video! I love the combos feminine classy top and jean +sneakers, or blazer and sneakers, or masculine/feminine, etc😘
Thank you!!! 🙏
great combos, your videos are the best :)
I am classic, unexpected, elegant. I usually choose an elegant look overall but always add something feminine or edgy or bold.
Love that unexpected is one of your words 💕 brings that element of fun and interest xx
Silk and light colored jeans.
Elegant and fresh x
Thank you 🙏💕
So good!! So good!!
Thank you so much 🙏🩷
Love these tips! I lovvvvve contrast and juxtaposition. The pinterest tip is pure genius. Thank you!
Thank youuu!!! 💕🙏
This was helpful! Thank you!
🙏 thank you. Glad you enjoyed!
Hi Emily, I love your whimsy and edgy look, it suits you perfectly. Have a lovely Easter Monday.
Thank you lovely 🥰 😊 🙏 Happy Easter xoxo
Thank you so much for these great ideas! I especially like to contrast jeans with a structured blazer, or a feminine dress with a jean jacket (traditional blue, white, or colored denim). After spending 15 years in very casual offices, I feel in a bit of a jeans + tee rut. Thanks for sparking some more creative thinking!
🙌 love it! I have a video coming out soon styling denim jackets 🩷 hope you enjoy it, and thank you for watching this one! X
I love this video! I also always wear feminine with edgy ❤
Love this! Glad you liked it, thank you love 🥰 🫶 x
I love combining more masculine or 'rough' looking jeans (like in a faded shade of black or grey, or with wider legs that don't show off your curves so much) with a feminine top, like something made from silk, or with dots and frills, for example. I guess that's a combination of both high/low and feminine/masculine! I find it really hard to style skirts though, so the bottoms are usually masculine whereas most examples online are the other way around i think.
Big fan of Tomboy Femme. ⚖️Balancing boyish👦 w/a girl next door👧 &/or womanly👩🦳 sensibility. Think Ali McGraw from 🎬Love Story as inspiration. 🧣She mixed Harvard boyfriend gear as well as blue collar pieces like a waffle LS undershirt from her humble background w/classic Sarah Lawrence Ivy League prep school pieces.
☂️Under the umbrella of Tomboy you'll find: casual, working class overtones, slightly slouchy, sporty, preppy, utility, edgy, & combat. Something like an oversized classic button-up, a graphic tee, or an A-Shirt (sleeveless finely ribbed, thin fabric u-necked white undershirt that comes in multi-packs since 1940s) merged w/a simple cashmere cardi of twinset fame.
☂️The latter Femme for me generally leans classic, simple elegance, minimal, tonal, &
🤏slightly glamour. It largely has to do w/my collection of corporate skirts, some separated from suit sets or office co-ord sets. Also my more modern straight, solid maxi skirts.
Blazers & Leather Jackets have a short shelf life here. They can only be worn strictly below 70s ⬇️ outside or in buildings where the
A/C blasts🥶. Instead my selection of toppers incl.: gilets or waistcoats; button ups, shirt dresses, or center button dresses that can all be used as a light "shacket"; & a pair of feather lightweight midi wrap style trench coats (in black & navy). The last items can be worn year round w/EXTRA layering in cooler temps (i.e., 60s & below ⬇️).
Skirts are my mainstay in 😎LA once it heats up🌡. Hate wearing jeans & denim jackets at all (too stiff & structured). Love a pleated trouser, a cigarette pant, or palazzo pant. Once it hits 80s, I strictly stick w/a tea length crop trouser (between bottom of calf & ankle).
Skirts feel like a somewhat more formal alternative to the denim shorts that I only wear in my house🏡 or for hiking about my 🏘neighborhood. Pairing them w/Tomboy flare takes the formality & fussiness away. The combo makes them much more polished casual.
🤠Do have a few tiered maxi fit & flare skirts for boot scooting👢 as well as 🎶country concerts. Also a couple of floral skirts (an a-line midi & a straight tea length). These skirts don't get nearly as much play. Prefer plaid, pinstripes, polka dots, abstracts, animal prints, as well as solid, tonal colors.
Ideas for Tomboy Femme:
¹Gray hoodie & ribbed tank under a cropped maroon Chanel style jacket & matching pencil skirt w/gray slip-on sneakers.
²Burgandy blazer matching pencil skirt, tights & combat boots w/a slouchy pastel pink LS Henley w/a strand of pearls.
³A black crew neck tee, purple & black bandana, purple pencil skirt, & slim black slip-on sneakers.
⁴White & hot pink buffalo check button up, cuffed ¾ sleeves open over a white tank tucked into a hot pink pencil skirt w/white platform sneakers.
⁵Black baseball cap, black halter neck style top tucked in a white a-line skirt w/a black plaid pattern & black loafers.
⁶Cropped navy blazer, SS black polo or tank top, matching maxi navy pleated skirt, & black Converse hightops.
😊Hope this gives you some ideas. Still recovering from a broken leg & sprained ankle, so I'm limited to sturdy flats at present.

I love your approach as it encourages self-reflection into personal style. I found the pinterest style words search incredibly helpful, as I didn't know my personal style had a 'name'. Now I can tailor my outfit inspo searches, such a time saver! You put into words what I already love to incorporate (e.g. juxtaposition) but didn't know how to verbalize. It all just makes so much sense and is confidence-boosting ❤
Great information, lovely outfits and ideas! Just subscribed and will be looking at your previous and new videos.
Yay! Thank you for being here 💕🙏 xx
I really like your videos. Its really excellent that you suggest to think about rhe different types of dressing styles to create what suits one's personality.
I giggled when i said out loud, "bohemian chic."
I like paring long floral skirts with a chic blouse and chain belt to mute the potential of my outfit being fully boho.
Once you stated thinking abiut your style and juxtaposition it just clicked for me.
Thanks!!!😁👍🤗
something to think about .... thank you
You’re welcome 🥰🙏
Thank you ❤❤❤
Thank you too 🥰🙏🩷
Feminine and Masculine is my go-to juxtaposition. Another that I aspire to is two patterns that complement each other - like a floral and a stripe in same color family. Nice video again. You look radiant with your makeup.
Ooo I love the complimenting patterns combination!! ☺️ Aw thank you 🙏 💕
Great ideas - love the cat!
Hehe, Annie meet Fanta, Fanta meet Annie 🐈 🩷 xx
@@EmilyElizabethMay 💕love the name!
I love converse shoes with long casual dresses instead of sandals or added a vintage jacket to modern slacks.
My juxtaposition is a budget item with a high end item, not sure I recommend it but that’s just the juxtaposition I’m working with as I slowly phase out the fast fashion for more high quality
I love this! It's a good way of disguising the pieces that aren't as good quality. I still have a few old fast fashion pieces floating about in my wardrobe. 💕💕💕 x
I suggest to combine a small and hand bag sparkling one with the boho style or a straw pochette
Not sure about the boots in outfit 2, they cut your legs off at the wrong place x
Emily has long legs so it doesn’t matter
I get this though 🙏 It doesn’t really adhere to the rule of thirds. But I’m a big advocate for looking past dressing rules in the case of personal preference. I much prefer a boot with a higher ankle than a lower one. I talk a bit about this in the next few videos coming up I think! Xx
I love your blue shirt that you presented in. Is that this season?
Thank you 🙏 my partner actually brought it home for me recently from a Reiss leftover stock sale.
EXCELLENT VIDEO
🙏🩷🙏
Leather pants with a femenine silk blouse.
Loved this video! I'd love a link to that first black mesh top! It's so lovely!
Thanks lovely!! 🙏🩷
Aw this black one is about 5 years old now from Country Road. I don’t think they do it anymore
Eating spaghetti on a white sofa? Unhinged juxtaposition.
🤣🤣🤣 I can’t do worse than my toddler , couch already covered in vegemite fingers
❤

Think you black boots in look 2 might look better in three, and of course black or beige sandals with look 3
Ooo yes those boots would look great in outfit 3! It’s hard to tell but they’re actually a really deep maroon colour.
I know that trainers with outfits aren’t for everyone 🩷
Can you share the links to your jewelry? I love your layered dainty necklaces and earrings. Thank you!
Hey! Here is a link to my favourites from MV with a 20% discount. The beaded necklace is in there, as well as a chain necklace too ☺️ xoxo
Hello Emily, you have a new subscriber! :)
🥳🙌🙏 yay welcome. What is your name? It’s lovely to have you here 🥰
Masculine and feminine is your 2nd look, very french
That’s true! It also mixed masculine with feminine. You bring up a good point I hadn’t really thought about, there can be more than one set of contrasting elements in an outfit.
You may not find it online because it's original. If the proportions are flattering, and the wearer feels comfortable both physically and mentally, it might be a stroke of genius. Creating interest should mean there's some uniqueness, creativity, innovation - but if everyone's doing sneakers with dresses, not so unique, is it?
Yes I totally agree with you 💯!! I wish I elaborated on this point more. I know some people are happy to take risks, trust their gut and wear what they want. But others are worried to trust their instinct, and this tip is more for those people early on in their style journey and not as confident with their own creativity yet. I feel like I could talk a lot about this a lot more in another video. Thank you for bringing this up though 🙏🩷
sneakers don't really go with dresses
For you sure, but not for others! 🩷 style is very subjective, we all see things so differently xo
@@EmilyElizabethMay they may wear tomorrow, but then change their shoes
