- A quick "emergency" review of the KDM simulator to try and catch this before the Black Friday sale ends. I got this done as quickly as I could manage and it is just the raw unedited footage. This master key was gifted to me by Adam Poots Games (APG), there were no stipulations or requirements attached to this gift. This review was not requested or sponsored by APG.
I was going to talk about the Morg digital only content, but my voice started to go, so I'll look at that in a future short video.

I LIKE THE BENDING ON THE EXPANSIONS! Thats how the little books are in real life actually because theyre so light, unlike the main book which weighs itself down, the attention to detail is amazing!! This feels like im at the table IRL!
320 USD for essentially a season pass is just. Actually absurd.
Right? It was my understanding that the high price of KDM was because of the cost of the amazing miniatures. But the sim is supposed to be a way to get access to the gameplay of KDM without opting into the cost of that portion of the experience.
It's pretty obvious at this point that the team only cares about catering to their whales and gouging as much money as they can out of them. Which is a shame because the game is so good. It's also disappointing that it's still so far behind the TTS mods even now and even with that price point.
I bought a copy a few months ago and enjoyed it enough that I bought the master key to go along with it. At this point I play this exclusively over the physical version now. Even though I have the Gambler's Chest expansion, I may not even bother playing it now until it's added to the digital version. All the other content I have now, that I didn't have before, will keep me busy for a long time to come while I wait for other content to be added to it.
I also got it plus all expansions this BF. Really impressed by the software so far and looking forward to all the future improvements. With Morg they are already showcasing how the future will look like.
As I only own core game and GC atm, I really like that I can now test all expansions first before I have to commit to anything and I will be able to make a much better decision on which expansions to get once CoD hits.
Good point regarding long distance play. This will make it much easier to schedule some KDM sessions with a friend who really liked the game but moved away a few years ago.

I bought in yesterday and I am playing the base game with a distant friend. It’s very nice - I love the automated set up and I am excited for future releases. Still listening to your video, but love your summary. Thank you for all you do Fen!

Thank you for the walkthrough! Still on the fence since I like to pick things up and flip through rulebooks. I may eventually try a hybrid approach if they continue to develop ways to automate setup and ability to take game progress between the simulator and real world. I don't know if i want to be going ban and forth sezrching for components but perhaps they've automated that too?

I feel like someday there will be a record you have to play backwards to get some demon babble and unlock something in the simulator/game. I think this simulator is boss. The opportunities are endless.

Thank you, I'm afraid that stuff is all only going to be on the Patreon in written form until the GCE lands on the simulator and I am still exploring the GCE - so it's months before I could form any meaningful opinion, I'd just be spitting out speculation and thoughts without time spent developing them. That's just not what I want to do, it's slapdash.
However, for the Arc Survivors in Stars, Team Death's already provided the answer to that with the Starbound philosophy for Stars and the Heliocenterism for Sun, until they are delivered to me that's not one I can even begin to speculate about.
hmm, 350 USD for a digital copy or 24 dollars for tabletop simulator? hard choice
This is so weird. KDM would greatly benefit from some level of assistance which digital can provide but doesn't. E.g. automatic setup (do I really have to get the rulebooks manually off the shelf?), help with enemy movement and status tracking. This is completely useless to me. I'd rather play the TTS mod which has much more advanced functionalities.
Fing love this game! Have been dying to get the base since Kickstarter. Was just way to much for me.... I will be ordering it in the next few weeks though!

The first time I loaded the game up, the submenu on clicking objects didn't appear and I was so stressed trying to open my boxes.
I was in the same boat. Relaunching the app and resetting the room fixed it for me.
I ordered the KDM key and now i want to start KDM simulator. But how. In launcher it still says PURCHASE KEY.

is this better than the TTS kdm fanmade. and can this played solo
In some parts yes, but i'd say stick with TTS for now. Mainly because it's lacking automatic setup of different phases. It's also lacking a lot of mats for organizing stuff like innovations and resources.
Bought mine a while ago but was disappointed by the UX back then. Will now go back :)

Impressive that they added even more extraneous crap that isn't the game making it an even more ridiculous and unwealdy experience than TTS, somehow. How difficult is it to just make a straightforward digital board game these days.
Why do i have to drag things around on a tabletop in a digital game? Why do i have to search for cards manually? Why do i have to interact with text in stupid representation ls of physical books when it'd be so much easier and friendly to use as a GUI element?
The game itself isn't for everyone, especially someone who enjoys the complexity a game like KDM brings, but why are we not following the example of something like Digital Talisman?
You should have led with the fact that you were gifted this product by the game's designer. It doesn't matter if they didn't ask you to do the review. You aren't some guy making a one-off video about a thing that interests you. You are a content creator who is well known in the KDM community, and who was provided this (relatively expensive) version of the simulator by the creator and publisher of the product you are reviewing, who is ALSO making this review for the purpose of convincing people to buy said product during a sale. That makes this a sponsored review.
