Thank you, very informative as always. My Electric 6 speed I bought from you is still ripping up my local Yorkshire hills, it’s great fun. The Ti rear triangle on my CHPT3 makes the ride comfort so plush. 4 speed derailleur gearing seems ideal for an electric Brompton so it seems like this Electric P Line is like a greatest hits compilation and I bet it’s superb to ride. I’d better start saving!
Great to see you back, I was starting to get worried! I purchased a six speed electric shortly before the new models came out. Really pleased with it I think the weight of the battery makes fore a less " twitchy " ride, even when riding without power as I often do.
Many thanks for watching! Sorry we took a bit of a holiday and then had to play catch up! So glad you are enjoying the electric! They make me smile every time I ride one!
I’d never fold the bike before carrying up stairs. Much easier to do so unfolded. Fold the bike only at the last minute when you reach your destination.
@@SabraSmith yes, I think they want to show ‘how light it is’; but as we know a folded Brompton is actually quite awkward to carry because of the way it hangs.
I never tried carrying up stairs the unfolded Brompton - thought it was more difficult due to the bike length, like with my previous « normal » bike. Even if my stairs are not the largest, I will give this method a try. Thank you! 😊

I also have an extra telescope post (Bought from you at Brilliant Bikes, for eventual use in my black B&W travel box), but it is really Heavy!! Finn. Denmark
After three months absence welcome back with another great review. You were sorely missed. Any chance of a T line review or are they too rare to get hold of?
Hi, thanks for sharing. With the front forks being steel (adding weight), has Brompton fitted a lighter seatpost, as with the T line, or is the P line electric seatpost all steel, I would really appreciate your clarification on this point. Regards Colin
So it seems Brompton have found new stock of the proper P line saddle and it has made a return on the Electric (at least Brilliants Demo bike). My non electric P line has a fizik seat and thanks to this video alone I now know I can get a mounting bracket for cateye lights for it after googling :) It also did not come with those orange extra light inner tubes either!
Many thanks for the question. We will aim to do a comparison. But for now if you want to check out the difference the gearing makes, please take a look at the gear ratio calculator xldev.co.uk/bgc.html
It looked like the battery still has the release button on the wrong side for easy removal if you're stood on the left side of the bike as you normally would to fold a Brompton.
You forgot that the P-line tyres need Helium instead of regular air to get below 10kg! ;-) Btw I am positively surprised by the Continental tyres on mine. Hello! I am so glad you are doing a review of the new P line electric. After watching the video I have one question: First, in your test ride, did you find the 4 speed limiting on a straight or decline compared to the 6-speed C line? I ask because I would like a lighter Brompton but for me anything less than 6 speed ends up being limiting. Thank you
Many thanks for the question. I did not find it limiting, but I only ride it on the flat. The 4 speed has a narrower gear ratio than the 6 speed, and is designed more for around the city (so I understand)
Many thanks for watching and the for question. If you wanted to use the new parts we understand you would need to replace the rear triangle! But that would be a huge change and I’m not sure if all parts are available yet!
Thank you very much for your well made informative and entertaining videos! I love my 6 years old 6-speed C line and use it every day for my 20 minutes ride to the office and back home, but now I am thinking about buying an e-bike, in order not to arrive at the office sweating. The P line electric seems to be the perfect choice for commuting, but I wonder whether the concept with the battery in the bag isn't a big disadvantage compared to built-in batteries, if you use the bike for other activities than commuting, because you will have to carry the bag with you all the time. I would like to read about experience with this issue.
Many thanks for watching and for the question. If you want to ride the bike without the battery you can leave the bag at home. They ride very nicely without the power. We have made a few other videos comparing the electric without power and on the different power modes
Do you know whether any of the new of the components are backwardly compatible with the C-line bikes ? In particular I'm thinking of the chain and easy wheels. Assuming one could get all parts etc. but the roller wheels for example have different bolts. The locking mechanism bolts into the rear triangle and the derailleur bolts onto the rear triangle. So we can’t see how at the moment these components would go onto a C Line / standard Brompton rear triangle. Hope that makes sense 😀

The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
It really is lovely! Thanks for watching!
