  • A player is "in the fridge" when all the balls are hit to their partner! This video is for anyone that plays matches, as I am sure it has happened at some point!
    In this padel tactics video we explain why it can be a good tactic to implement, but also how you can get out of that situation if this is used against you!
    One of the most common strategies in padel, this can be a great way to focus your hitting if you are implementing it. Many players of all levels get frustrated when the ball does not come to them, but choosing the direction of your shots can help you avoid this.

    This is a great tactic but I believe it should be used only in tournaments, not casual matches. There's nothing worse than arranging a match to have fun and relax and end up not touching a single ball, all because your opponents would rather ruin your match than lose.

      AL CauG i completely agree! Unfortunately I probably see it used more often in recreational games than in tournaments! 🤦🏼‍♂️

      Totally agree,there are some players that do do this here in Spain

      I have had experience in Spain where I am playing with a partner much better than me in a casual game. And then the opponents don’t want to play the ball to my partner because they don’t want to lose and they do it just naturally. It’s not like they talk to each other and say let’s make that really good guy have a bad day and let’s put him in the fridge. It’s just the natural human nature to avoid danger, they play all the balls to me because they don’t want to have the balls slammed down their throat because my partner is so good. Then my partner can get mad that they are leaving him out. But I totally understand why they are leaving him out. It is because he is playing with someone well below his level. So I think the best way to avoid these situations in a casual match is to be as evenly matched with your partner as possible. It is just human nature to play to the weaker player. If you are going to play with someone that is a much lower level than you then just know this is going to happen. The guys on the other side aren’t being jerks, they just want to win, and they are often playing to the weaker person just out of human nature (avoiding danger ). It doesn’t mean they are trying to make the really good player have a terrible time. It just means they want to not get demolished and have a decent chance of winning. In these situations it is just a game of survival and not actually a tactical fridge situation. The simple fix ( if you are a person that gets angry when you don’t get the ball in these survival situations) is to make sure you and your partner are more evenly matched in the casual games.

    I find Padel almost like a game of chess, moving your way forward and building up the point is the key success factor for both sports. One thing we usually struggle with are players that are really good with finding ANGLES. Could you do a specific video on how to master the angles of Padel?

    Hi Sandy, nice video! I had a question, is it possible to change the Australian formation during the set, even in a single game or we have to wait the end of the set? Or maybe just when we are serving we can decide if we do Australian formation or not? I don't know the rule about this. Thanks

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  4 роки тому +2

      PierreM BK good question. The Australian formation is a choice of positioning on your service. So you can decide each point whether you want to do it or not. Hope that helps 👍

      @@ThePadelSchool thanks I didn't know! So it's like in tennis I think (even if we don't used to play Australian formation in tennis at recreational level). And we can change side each set if we want to switch?

      PierreM BK you can change returner side each set, yes. Servers positions (Australian or normal) are up to you every point 👍

    I get put in the fridge a lot.
    Often in non competitive matches.
    When it happens i feel like just leaving the court to poop in the opponents trainingbags.
