      No doubt. The newer XJs have issues with the engine. I have been trying to get one for the last year or so and every one I looked at had these issues. The X350 and X358 had fine engines. Why mess with perfection?

    I couldn’t agree more, I had one (ex-chauffeur car). Mine only differed in having the V6 engine and ivory.interior trim (and no, don’t like the orange coloured trim either). It had a beautifully contoured wooden wheel. The replacement for my luxurious XJ 350 is I hate to say an XJ351 Portfolio. Until I bought this car (black with ivory in), I didn’t think that you would ever find a more luxurious powerful sedan - sorry but I have to admit they did! I only miss the wooden steering wheel.

    No one buys a Jag to save gas, but I have an 3.0 litre K Type V6...haven't owned it for that long but the trip computer says the best HWY fuel economy I can get is just over 18MPG. That heavier XJ with the big engine can't be getting 28MPG highway. Not a knock against him, he may not even know.

    • @ValEuroSport
      @ValEuroSport  5 років тому +1

      The V6 engine is American made I believe (Ford?). I am surprised to hear you are getting only 18MPG. Maybe you have a really heavy foot? I have been driving these Super 8 cars for a while and I can tell you that you will get upper 20s MPG if you drive it at around 60-65mph. Obviously, stop and go city traffic will bring that average down...

      2004 not so much... the first year model was riddled with flaws (highest on the list is the leaky suspension). I would say 2005 through 2009 is the best range for these Jags. Although I do like the old school 2001-2003 XJRs

  • @sjm5482
    @sjm5482 3 роки тому +1

    Beautiful beautiful car, the facelift from 07 or so topped it off perfectly. Those 20” rims, while pretty, are known for providing a much harsher ride, and additionally, if you have lousy roads like those here in PA, serious rim damage can occur. While the newer style Jag XJ and XF have had wonderfully positive reviews, the visual simply isn’t as iconic, as readers have pointed out.

    I guess I am resigned to drive my 2006 XJ8 until I die, because current XJs, XEs etc. are hideous in styling. I might add also a Jaguar SUV should not have a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine. I also have a 1995 XJ12 I will never part with.

      It's all a matter of preference. I like the facelift better as it makes the car look a little sportier or more powerful. A lot of folks (such as yourself) like the older X350. I do take an issue with Jaguar's decision to cut costs by eliminating the full size spare and the 6CD changer in the trunk on the newer X358 Super 8 cars.
