- Within the scope of the Liebherr Reman Program, used components undergo a complete disassembly. Afterwards the individual reusable parts are stripped of paint, cleaned, appraised and reprocessed. Once the re-assembly is completed, the quality of the remanufactured component matches that of a new part - including corresponsive warranty.

does it have any components from the old engine because it seems to me that engine block, cyl heads and valve openers are pretty much looking like new from the factory?? So it should be a totally new engine now??
Think you might be getting re-manufactured and re-build confused. A re-manufactured engine is built to the exact same specs as a new engine but will contain re-manufactured parts. In a NEW engine all the parts are new (never been used before)
Ok for instance that means the crank and cam are the same piece but refurbished... they changed the piston rings and flying crank bearings etc. You are right, i am confused with these terms. But to me it seem it is 90% new engine (components) or they cleaned the surfaces somehow
Consider it from the cost effectiveness point of view. Cylinder block = absolutely cheaper to just refurbish if no cracks are present. Same for crankshaft - additive metallurgy and re-machining bearings is fast and cheap these days. But pistons, cylinder tubes, cylinder heads (this engine had separate heads), valves et cetera are really just consumables. Toss old to the bin and install new parts.
Customer wants a compromise between expected time before new overhaul and cost. No point spending 4/5th of new engine cost if you get only 2/3rds of expected running hours.
Within the Liebherr Reman-Program, we are trying to reuse as many parts as possible to remanufacture an as-new component.
If the used parts meet strict requirements, this includes engine blocks, crankshafts, camshafts, piston rods and cylinder heads as well.
Wear parts like seals and bearings will not be reused of course and a cracked engine block can hardly be remanufactured in an economical way.
Customers can expect a full second life for their components remanufactured by Liebherr. This means comparable running hours and a new part warranty for the entire component

They sandblast the block, and machine deck, flat surfaces, bearings, and cylinders.
