Could it be that their flashing-PC / QA PC to check the memory cards is infected and just spread to the SD card? There are way easier methods to get someones data on their PC. The "plan" to rent a warehouse, selling large boxes full of stuff and exchanging the memory card in those boxes to include an outdated software / malware is far to complicated and costs are ridiculous. Just take some serial key generator or some legit freeware and ad your malware into that.
Yeah, who knows what really happened. The sellers from eBay were pretty sketchy. After I reached out to them they ended up deleting all their posts for the same printer.
