A Tour Inside A Working Hard Rock Lead And Silver Mine

In this video, we get a tour inside a working hard rock lead and silver mine located in Northern Idaho in the Silver valley. We go down to a depth of 3200ft and climb a timbered raise to get to the ore veins rich in galena. We are shown the processes it takes to mine and then refine the ore so it can then be sent off to be smelted into pure lead and silver.
We spent the first hours above the surface learning about the mines history and learning about mine safety. We were trained how to use a self-rescuer and what it was used for as well as being shown what signs pointed to exit points in the mine.
This was a geologic class field trip from the University.
