All good points! I would add assuming NWT (new with tag) clothing is in good condition. Just because it hasn't been worn doesn't mean there are no flaws. Check for stains, rips, snags, missing buttons, broken zippers, moth holes, weird smells, etc...just as you would on used clothing.
Great tips! Thank you. The sniff test is so important and one I learned to always do but you're braver than I am by putting your nose so close to the clothing LOL!
Guilty of all charges! Especially fixing broken stuff, if I just wasn’t so darn handy. FYI on washing black vintage denim, it has the potential to disintegrate and will leave you with a huge mess to clean up in your washing machine!
Don't most of the thrift stores, at least the Goodwill's and Savers, spray the soft items with a disinfectant spray? I know, the ones I go to always have that same sickly sweet scent which luckily washes away !
Thrift store clothes stink and I can't get the smell out. The entire store has a smell. They charge too much for used and or broken stuff. Never over pay, I say nope and walk away. I don't need it anyway.

@ thanks for all your tips, you got me back on track with some hard truths, lol
To get a musty smell out of fabric, lightly spritz it with vodka and ket it dry. I dont know why it works, but it does. I've used it often.
I’ve heard of that! I wasn’t sure it would actually work -I’ll give it a try!!!!
@vintagelifebydenise I've even used it successfully on silk.

That is true, but I usually wash everything I find at thrift stores! Thanks for commenting!
