Zeph will be a great addition to your shop and your channel. We love wheeling with Gage Boys Garage and Just Bump It 4x4.... Making Michigan proud, Zeph.... congratulations!
Poke fun at Jeeps all you want. But as Matt says, "If you've got independent suspension, stay on the bunny slopes". :D Welcome aboard, Zeph! As always, thanks for sharing. Steve
I’d agree with your statement, that is until manufacturers start making ifs like the king of the hammers buggies, that isn’t going to happen, the Toyota definitely needs a belly skid plate for sure, the Toyota is a better overland vehicle.
Going to WV next month and I'm worried about the fact that I have no skids, but I see you climbing something way knarlier than anything I'd ever try, and I'm suddenly not worried anymore lol
I really thought you were kidding about the XJ being essentially a Toyota until he said it had a 1UZ in it lol. That's basically the holy grail of Toyota engines. I want a 1UZ in my 3GT4R so bad.
I think what people forget/overlook. Winning is about off the shelf readiness. Of course we can build something capable. Most people still want to have the “look” of a capable rig more than just its capabilities. To each their own.
That title will gets lots of hits, the original AMC Jeeps were a mixed bag, so any Jeep with a Hodge Podge of vehicle parts is a true Jeep in all its glory - great video.
@ nope spent a 2 weeks in Idaho last month and there’s a regional accent in Idaho area. Several people I’d talk to and I would think I’ve heard this accent before. Very pleasant accent.
wow, at 20:49 you can see the rear driver tire slip on the beadgrip wheel. I've never actually noticed that happen before, what tire pressure where you running?
@ When it was turtled on the sliders the rear was very compressed. You should be able to get more droop out of the rear than the front axle with some spring tuning
What do you guys do when you scratch your Method rims? I've only been out 2-3 times since getting some Methods and they're scratched. I check with Method and they don't seem to have touch up paint.... Which seems like a giant failing.
Hey man, I have a XJ myself! I love it. I drive about 40-50 miles a day on street, 75-85mph. I take it out on weekends and such to some trails, and I live in Utah near Moab and sand hollow with sand and rocks all over as well as some heavy snow. I was wondering what tire you’d suggest? The xj is only about 3,000lbs and the smoother the ride the better, esp with all my road driving, and mpg / speed is important because it’s super underpowered, but I want a tire to do well off road on trails rated 5-6 at the max, as mentioned before on the rocks and snow and such too. It’s on 31s and a 3” lift building for max hybrid capability between road and off road, comfortable yet capable. Got a good recommendation?
My first instinct would be the Falken AT4w... but they are a tad heavier and you would feel that. You would do pretty well on the KO3 with all the improvement for wet roads and snow and it is a bit lighter... if you wanted to go aggressive but suffer on MPG and power... the Mickey Baja Boss are amazing down in Moab and really good in snow and wet roads...
@@OutdoorAutodang thanks my man. Really appreciate the answer. I was thinking the same. I’m on 15” wheels and the ko3 won’t have that for a while. My tires are 8 y/o so I’m trying to get some new ones soon. Tbh highway driving, wet/snow roads is most of what I run into. But yeah, the off road qualities are awesome too. The wildpeak at4w comes in my size at load range C which would probably be comfy, and from your vids I know they’re great in wet conditions. I’m also regearing for 31s soon, but they’re 50lbs a tire. If you think they are the best match I will definitely buy some!!
@OutdoorAuto these videos always make me want to buy a project vehicle and start my own DIY build. Learn to weld, learn to tube bend, learn to swap engines and make my own motor mounts. Between you and @dirtgarage, I'm being influenced! Keep it up 👍🏻
Ok, trying to learn something here, that jeep has a 1UZ-FE Toyota engine swap, but then you said it has a Toyota transmission like ALL XJ's? What? I am intrigued by that jeep build build, tell us more please.
XJ’s have Aisin transmissions from the factory… Aisin is a company owned by Toyota that makes parts mostly for Toyotas… but also sells to third parties.
That giraffe pressure washer is garbage. Had one and sent it back. Don’t wast your time……get the Active 2.0 or the 2.3. I have both and they are great.
What’s the issue? I have been using mine… but just for washing cars… I actually got the lesser powered one so I wouldn’t blow all my electrical connections up…
@@OutdoorAuto Well I’m kind of a car washing nerd and the giraffe didn’t have good flow (I also didn’t like the hose). The gpm was too low…..the pressure is fine but what I wanted is pressure and flow. I’m also not a fan of the retractable mechanism…..it will fail. I prefer a quality hand crank hose reel.
That’s a very smart swaybar disconnect for that Jeep
100%
Crazy right? Super cheap too.
@@OutdoorAutothat’s out of the box thinking…great add to this channel
Great work.
@@OutdoorAuto So can you do a short BUILD parts list for DUMB FOLK ??
Zeph is neither a good or bad influence...he's a fun influence 🤣
I agree!... but we all know I am going to break more things now... but he has to help fix them 😏

He is a HUGE addition to the channel… we will be able to do so much more cool stuff so much faster.
This guy made manual KDSS! Absolutely genius!
Pretty cool, Right? I was impressed.
Have to say I really like the addition to the channel.
Yeah, he is going to push me and the channel forward.
I’m halfway of the video and this is looking great.. and quoting Nate” that’s sounds looks good” make this video really good..
Thanks for watching 🙏
Just good old fun of wheeling. Welcome Zeph!
It was pretty fun… we made sliders for the 80 as soon as we got home… ready to try again.
Poke fun at Jeeps all you want. But as Matt says, "If you've got independent suspension, stay on the bunny slopes". :D

no shame in winching and wow am I absolutely in love with that XJ. Such an amazing build.
It’s a pretty rad build!
That sway bar is genius
Might have been part of what got him the job 😉
Going to WV next month and I'm worried about the fact that I have no skids, but I see you climbing something way knarlier than anything I'd ever try, and I'm suddenly not worried anymore lol
Just keep the high spots under the tires 😂
That Ford/Lexus/XJ is a monster! FlexJ?
I really thought you were kidding about the XJ being essentially a Toyota until he said it had a 1UZ in it lol. That's basically the holy grail of Toyota engines. I want a 1UZ in my 3GT4R so bad.
I have a 1UZ sitting in the back of the shop waiting to be transplanted into something... we haven't figured out what the plan is yet.
@OutdoorAuto your should do a 3rd gen 4runner. I've been wanting to do that in mine forever
Awesome video as always! Nice addition to the crew👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
He is going to definitely help us get more & better videos out.
He is an AWESOME Addition to the Channel !!!!!! LOVE IT !!!!!!!
I’m pretty excited about it.
Looks like a blast! Thanks for the ride-a-long!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Rock on zeph glad to see your drive shaft holding up

Welcome Zeph!
Pretty excited to have the help.
Fantastic work.
A little track building and you wouldn't have needed the winch at all. Great drive from both vehicles
Thanks 👍

What? Nooo wayyy! That swaybar disconnect is 🤯!
He is a smart guy.
I've done that trail a few times, it's a fun challenging one, you should try going to the right hand side at the Y after the first waterfall.
I have skid plates now… we will definitely try it.
Great work and update. Cool to see.
More to come!

crawling 101 - skid plates!
We already built them… now they are actually on 🤗
Could you do a in-depth video about your buddy’s Jeep. That be awesome. That way I can get ideas and motivation to work my XJ.
I’m sure we will cover some stuff at some point… but if you get tired of waiting he has a lot about it on his channel @gageboysgarage
Great video Nate! Super excited to see zeph on the crew.
I am so excited.. we will be able to move projects forward so much faster.
Good stuff guys! Welcome to the young fella!

My favorite comment from Zeph, “Ol' it's just some love taps!” Haha 😅
Great trail and trail coverage... even as short as it was.
42s in the future 80s tool box?
42’s on something 😉
Good job getting Zeph
He is a solid addition.
@16:27 man I felt that slide WHEW!!
That had me worried for a sec for sure.
Welcome Zeth. It will be interesting to see what you guys get into. Hopefully not too much trouble. 🤪
Toms of fun new projects coming…
wow, at 20:49 you can see the rear driver tire slip on the beadgrip wheel. I've never actually noticed that happen before, what tire pressure where you running?
My lowest was at 7 psi… we noticed that too… the BFGs are really new so some of the goop you use to mount them is still in there…
Will you please do an All Terrain Tire buying guide 2024 / 2025? Thank you for all of the great content!!!
Hey - You guys are CRAZZZZYYY Nice video though!! Welcome aboard Zeph, Look forward to more cool stuff. Cheers
Not going to lie... I was nervous... but it was a ton of fun.

Welcome to Zeph, Nate what are the specs on your wheels? I went back to the other Nate's videos and couldn't find anything. Thanks
That jeep is awesome! And he’s not afraid to try the obstacles
He isn’t afraid of anything as far as I can tell.
Yall chose a rough line on that second obstacle the jeep was high centered on. 😅you can ride the wall to the driver side.
Zeph, Flexfit 🧢 🙌
He did 👍
Love that trail,,, Let’s go hit some rocks sometime!
The rear spring rate looked too soft for that last obstacle. The front was at full droop when the rear was almost compressed
The Rear spring rate looked too soft when the entire weight of the vehicle was just on the rear springs?
@ When it was turtled on the sliders the rear was very compressed. You should be able to get more droop out of the rear than the front axle with some spring tuning
Well i'm glad 😊 there are guys like this that like or have vehicles they can beat up, and make me cringe, I'll watch thank you
I still cringe… but I gotta try.

I honestly mess up all my rims so much I give up. I am just happy they are aluminum and don’t rust 😳

Hey Seth, that was fun
Wow no skids? Living life on the edge.
Stupidly close to the edge… we made skids as soon as we got home.
Why no skid plates? that's crazy.
It’s a work in progress… we have them now… fab’d them up the next day.
I took my lowered Corrola over that obstacle last week.
😂 can I come next time?
Does look like fun!
It was a good time… can’t wait to try again with our homemade skid plate…
Two Headed Dragon ... definitely above my pay grade
Apparently above mine as well 😳😂
That 1UZ alone gives me more confidence than the Landcruiser lol.
