  • Access to the 49 Euro Pilothouse’s bow area is via stairs outboard of the pilothouse on each side. The side decks rise at a slight incline as we walked forward and the rails are 3’ (.91 m) tall, far exceeding the 2’ (.61 m) called for by the American Boat and Yacht Council standards. Forward, there’s a two-person lounge with a fold-down backrest.

      Sadly Aquaholic seems to only do walk throughs. Maybe they don't trust him to take the boats off the dock.

    As a regular viewer, may I suggest you create a series on what are you top 3-5 boats in the different lengths/types of boats? I think you have a lot of amature or novice boat enthousiasts that would appreciate an experts opinion on best/worst boats. Appreciate all your fantastic videos.

    Very nice budget Nordhavn alternative. One of the (very) few modifications that I would want to make to this layout is a hinged radar arch/flybridge roof. Just to give a _little_ bit better bridge clearance.

    • @emeraldmorningmist
      @emeraldmorningmist 3 роки тому +1

      In the test video Steve said that its sister ship did the great loop and it had the same arch. Still a hinged would be nice or have the entire roof on height adjustable poles (to make it like a clam shell design).

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 3 роки тому +2

      @@emeraldmorningmist I had forgotten Steve mentioning that in the test video. If it can clear the 19 footer just outside of Chiraq, then a folding arch _might_ bring it down enough to do the western Erie canal with 15 feet of clearance on several bridges.

    No side decks would be a major problem in Northern Europe. Side on docking, passing through locks and entering inland waterways. Being able to access the dock from mid ships quickly can make all the difference to your paint job or insurance premiums. I enjoy the videos though, thanks.

    Great review! I love the recessed headboard with side bookshelves - that is a great idea, cozy and gives more space to walk around the bed. I think I would have to ask them to fit a king size bed in there though.

      @@charlieodom9107 Oh yes, I need side decks. 😅 But you're right, it depends on the area you're sailing. In Croatia the mooring lines are handed to you on the stern and you have to take them to the bow. In Greece I experienced that they hand over the lines from a dinghy directly to your bow.

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 3 роки тому

      Primarily range capability but also the amount of storage (food) that you can cram into the available space. I suspect you could, with proper timing, take this trans-Atlantic assuming you could refuel at northern Newfoundland/Labrador, then Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

      Class A - (Ocean) yacht is a vessel that is built to navigate the open ocean and surpass a force 8 on the Beaufort scale and waves higher that 4 meters. These yachts are constructed to be self-sufficient in hostile seas.
      Class B (Offshore) yacht is a vessel built to navigate on the offshore waters (200 miles and less) and can sustain up to force 8 and waves not higher than 4 meters. - This is what this boat is -
      Class C (Inshore) boat is built to navigate inshore such as lakes, rivers, bays and close to the shore and can sustain up to force 6 and waves not higher than 2 meters.
      Class D (Inland or sheltered coastal waters) boat is built for protected or sheltered waters such as canals, rivers, small lakes and sustain a force 4 and waves up to 0,3 meters , temporary 0,5 meters
      It's a way of knowing at a glance how strong the boat is your getting.

    I know this sounds weird but why wouldn’t he have socks on every video he’s walking around on brand new boats with sweaty bare feet? I mean come on he pulls those (possibly) fungus covered feet out of the same leather loafers (which I am sure don’t smell at all) if you turned off the lights and though on a black light it would look like a old cartoon showing every foot print in glorious detail. Oh well to each his own

      As much as I would like to agree with you, can you imagine the cost of a 50-foot yacht built in the United States with basic journeyman starting at 35 to $40 an hour, and Craftsman upward of 60 and above. Multiply that times about 15,000 to 25,000 man hours. Custom or high-end work takes longer. Then there's the materials. Not only are the cost of materials much cheaper in other countries, there are some materials that are almost impossible to buy or use here. For example. Because of the EPA and the Air Resource Board, Coatings are highly regulated and very expensive here in the US. Also don't expect exotic Woods here in the US to be at the same costs as elsewhere. There's other operating costs like insurance, permits, taxes, and the cost of building accommodations large enough to build big yachts.

      @@jnicksnewstart I agree with you on all points... and I wouldn't have a problem with a Taiwan boat, or a Turkey boat. Even though Taiwan is technically China, it is a free territory for the time being. I think this is where small yards come into play. Anyway, despite all of your points being 100% true, some of these China boats are not that much cheaper then better known yards.
