I could listen to him forever
Me too.
Especially as he drives the damn things. The number of "collectors" who let their cars sit around drives me mad
Same , his story telling is superb !
Absolutely! Wealth of stories and he tells them in such a casual and engaging way.
I’d love to hear more from him
Having a guy like Jack Roush "owe you a big favor" is one of those Ace-cards in your pocket few mortals will ever have.
He owns a P-51 at Willow Run Airport
I thought the same exact thing when he said that...”Jack Roush owes me a solid” is a pretty hefty brag; for it to be true is even better!
Apparently, having Bill Warner owe you a "Solid favor" carries the same weight!
This guy can’t tell a bad story!
Lil 9 I agree.
UA-cam is getting too comfortable with these double ads
Ad block for UA-cam.. A Chrome extension.
Blood,Sweat, and Gears yeah but for iPhone app?
@@BloodSweatandGears Yup, I have it on firefox too, never see and ad. Question... Is adblocker available on smart phones?
@@Hubjeep Ad Blocker has their own web browser. When I'm on my phone and use UA-cam, I always use it through the Ad Blocker browser. It usually plays UA-cam videos in the background without having the screen on, not always but usually.
adblock for pc, vanced for your phone
"I was happy, he was happy" that's good business.
When I lived in Jacksonville years ago, I purchased a 911 from Brumos and attended the Porsche Driving Experience at Roebling in Savannah, Ga.. At that event, I met Bill Warner and spoke with him several times over the weekend never knowing his rich heritage in auto racing! Hurley Heywood was my "in car" instructor. It was an amazing experience I shall never forget.
Rubbing elbows with legends. Memorable indeed.
I love Bill’s stories. He would be the perfect grandfather!
"It had been traded to a guy in Greenville SC" got dammit Rabbit
That was my first thought!
Hahahahahaahaha
There was a scrapyard right across from Greenville-Pickens Speedway that was an absolute gold mine, back when I lived there many years ago. It wouldn't have surprised me to find the Brabham Cooper shoved in a corner of a shed on that lot. I get the feeling our man has been browsing in there.
I lost it when he said “the salad dressing guy!?!” 😂
Lol - how else would she know him!
Hopefully one day she'll watch"Cool Hand Luke" and realize, "Oh! That Paul Newman."
That was as bad as my ex. I asked her if she knew who the guy was in the commercial. She said it was some black ball player. It was Michael Jordan. She would have known Paul Newman from his movies. I think all of the big roles.
Bill Warner is the grandpa we all wish we had.
Well, older brother for me....
Absolutely😎
Ed, you have some fabulous story tellers on your channel, but Bill is by far the best. Thank you for putting this together.
I grew up on and still subscribe to AutoWeek, R&T and C&D; Bob Tullius' Group 44 raced Jags in the day, and I recall seeing this TR6 as well. The memories of the track announcer at Road America still vibrate in my mind, watching the Group 44 Jags roaring along the main straight. Great days for motorsport, SCCA, IMSA and more.
Utterly brilliant, this guy needs an autobiography
Wow Bill Warner! Love a good guy with a great story. He must have so many. Someone out there has a really cool grandfather haha
Paul Newman a true legend, known by little girls for salad dressings hahaha 🤦🏻♂️
The salad dressings are pretty good thing to be remembered for $530m to charity and still going. He truly is a legend.
Yeah. A friend of mine is a actor who knew Newman. I'm an auto fan. This is one of the things we joke about. How look is going to take for the food products to become the thing Newman's famous for. Guess it's already happening.
@@lokisgodhi There's a photo out there of Paul Newman & Robert Redford playing ping pong when they were prime. Salad dressing is NOT what they are remembered for.
Title says , " I found 2 race cars " but I just learned how win dixi got into NASCAR
Stories like these make me think I was born in the wrong era...
Amazing.
so true
You likely were.
As car guys/gals we all were...when we only think about the positives of the former years. Take for example: “I wish I was a hot-rodder in LA in the early 60s” sounds great until you see photos and hear horror stories about the air quality in “the bowl o’ smog” at that time.
Man, Steve McQueens bullitt. Legendary. My dad and I used to watch that movie back in the day and rewind the chase scene a few times. I will do that for my kids too. Great stories Bill! Come back soon!
It might not get the most views but this is the best new video posted to UA-cam today.
I agree
Yooo, been a long time but I remember when You, Ed came to our school in North Georgia, you came in the Murcielago and never have I ever been so exited, you came because it was my friend Max’s birthday I believe. What an amazing guy you are Ed, really want to own a 430 when I’m older tho and possibly a Murci. Keep up the great work man. Love the channel
Don't listen to your parents about college. You can make a ton of money on skilled trades. Buy that 430.
Joshua Gibson. Thanks for the advice man!
wow, what a great story and storyteller.......please ask Mr. Warner to come back soon and tell us more racing stories!
This guy knows how to tell a story. He had me smiling ear to ear the whole time.
I haven’t heard a boring story on VINWiki yet. Ed you are truly blessed brother.
This guy reminds me of my grandfather, great stories, great personality and the details.
"It's scared me to death"
"Me too."
🤣🤣🤣
This is why I have massive respect for these men.
They knew well in advance that what they did was super dangerous, but they loved it and they put their harts and souls in it.
What would be your dream to find in an automotive junkyard?
Simple just want an R32 gtr lol
A r34
A supra , I hear they come stock with 1000hp
A a9x Torana
PAULINA PORISKOVA in a string bikini.
Just went from one of the Shmee VinWiki videos to this.
This is how you tell a motoring story...
I love all of Bill's stories... Hope he has many more to come!
I always look forward to Bill's stories. More, more, more! Much better and more interesting to me than street racing youths.
Gotta love how his stories always include true legends of automotive history!
Just listening to this man telling his life story make my heart overflow with joy.
I met Bill Warner years ago in Montana. We had a car guy chat. He was in the process of restoring a Maserati Ghibli and told me all about it as well as his Group 44 cars. He is just like you see him here. Not only a car guy but a genuinely decent human being.
Damn I love a good Bill story!
Blokes like Bill made the world a way better place.
This guy is fantastic, I hope we’ll get many more epic stories from him
Cheers
I could listen to this guy all day. Awesome content as always
Mr Warner is a very kind gentleman who did a nice thing for my family that I'll never forget.
this dude should make a "rent a grandpa" company
Bill always seems to have incredible luck with these things. I can’t wait to hear more great stories from him!
I love how he tells his stories. What a gentleman.
Just finished doing some reading about Adam Carolla's car collection. It would be cool to get Adam Carolla in here to talk about his Paul Newman cars. I think his collection is really smart. Many of the cars were Japanese, and race cars from Japan, when Carolla started scooping them up, were under appreciated until just a few years ago. By the time he gathered up most of the cars and finally got the multi-million dollar Porsche, he had the documentary about Paul Newman's racing career ready to go. That documentary was so well done, it probably doubled the value of the collection. Smart.
We need more bill stories!
Seriously I'm so glad you found this guy
More of this guy, please!
Seriously, you should do a whole series on Bill's stories...
Bill is a damned national treasure.
Great guest makes a great vid....i could listen to him for hours. Thank you !!!
"I kept getting out of that car in a cold sweat." Best. Line. Ever.
Of the many awesome personalities on this channel, this gentleman is one of my favorites.
Randomly reeling off names of legends and calling them 'a friend of mine'..... This gentleman is GOLD
Love the content but 8 ads for a 10 min video?? 2 pre-roll, 2 double mid rolls and 2 at the end! Plus you guys thank a sponsor as well. Cable tv has better content to ads ratio!
Compensating for everyone using ad blocker
Adblocker or red
I have premium I never get ads you cheap fucks lol
It's getting bad. I agree. I got the same amount of ads you mentioned.
Just get premium.
Wow! This story is legend. Unreal. Well done!!
This guy is the real deal, last of a dying breed!
"You don't ask what the payback will be, you just do it.". The era of handshakes and reputations.
This guy has a hell of a storied past
Best vinwiki story ever, what a gentleman, a car sir
I like what Bill questioned at the end. Will anyone know who Steve McQueen is in 30 years, and will the Bullitt Mustang still be worth all of those millions? Fame is indeed fleeting, and Steve has been gone since 1980. I still remember when he died. And how many people honestly knew who Ed Leslie was? I did, but I'd guess that most would have to look him up.
I went to Winn-Dixie yesterday. I love Publix too but there’s something special about my Winn-Dixie.
I miss our local Winn-Dixie, they always had the best steaks!
I'm guessing the Liberals will be attacking Winn-Dixie over their name saying it's "racist". Let's hope not.
Tree L. Bolling they already are, but Winn Dixie said they aren’t changing it.
@@kylertinkler1860 Good for Winn-Dixie!!!
I miss the fact that they were the beef people
we need more bill
More of this!
Almost thought this was going to be a Curated story by John about another lost rare car he "Christopher Columbus" found.
Joel Jeffrey I actually thought at first we’d be hearing Casey Putsch waxing poetic about some rare 90% destroyed jewel...
Ed have you ever thought about having frank resonetti..(definitely not how you spell his name)
on the show? He was a crew chief for Dale Earnhardt and was a Nascar mechanic for years. He's got some really cool stories and is in Atlanta. Randy knows him if you don't already.
Great video and excellent stories as always.
I got jealous when he mentioned Triumph. I'm usually an American muscle guy but I have a deep love for Triumph cars.
Love this guy. Who says old people are boring!
This man has the best stories sometimes
Pinto, Chevette, and Citation in the Winn Dixie pics.
This gentleman is a superb raconteur.
I love this mans stories
THESE stories are the automotive history of a country.
The good old days of racing were crazy dangerous. When Denny Hulme died of a heart attack while racing in Australia in 1992, he was the first Formula 1 champion to die of natural causes.
Last time I was this early, Boris Said's bumper was still attached.
What an amazing story! That is so awesome!
Love this channel, great stories!
This guy is legendary
Ed asking questions off camera? That's a new one!
Great story
>Coventry Climax engine
There's no denying the racing pedigree of that engine. Obviously Lotus made great use of them etc... However, there's also no denying that it's original purpose was as a forklift engine!
That my grocery store!!! I'm there every day!!!!
I like listening to these type of videos
Fame is a fleeting thing for sure.
My Step Son (19 years old) recently asked me who Madonna is. He also hadn't heard of Queen or Freddie Mercury.
Lololololololol man forget about 30 years idk who that guy Is now aside from a racer of some sort lol
Great storyteller.
Wow, this is what UA-cam SHOULD be about, awesome stories told to future generations that would otherwise go into the wind.
Winn-Dixie DOES have awesome beef. Especially when compared to Publix and the like.
I'm 16 and I know who Steve McQueen is! As for the bullitt mustang, I hope it's not worth $3 million anymore in 20-30 years so that I have a chance at buying it!
There are so so so many great old time legends and not so legendary folk. What a genius idea. These gentlemen need to share these stories before they are gone.
Couldn't agree more!
Best guest you have ever had! Beg him to ask his friends to come on VINwiki!!!!
Bill did bring up somebody- that if you could get him- would be a phenomenal guest...Adam Carolla.
I hope you know the 2nd pic of the 60 Nascar car was from a video game.
Damn.. 10 minutes sure fly fast when he tells his story.
A junkyard from heaven!
This is one of the better ones you guys have done. Super cool hearing the behind the scenes stuff from the era.
I will be sending this to my father just because of the Mark mlMartin part of the story he's been a fan of him for decades
did he really say peter brock?
wow absolute Aussie legend. RIP
Vinwiki is a time machine that keeps on bringing amazing stories from the past
Just imagine Bill and Morgan Freeman having a chat...
can you just hire bill to tell stories till the end of time please
M
Maurice
I worked for some guys in the 60s who raced a Merlin/Porsche . First hand experience with brazed frames. Not fun.
Interesting guy more please
"Fame is a fleeting thing" Exactly
Time to Get Adam in the studio if you can.
Now these are great freindships and loayl people, a rare breed these days.
