How timely! I just assembled my Hearthside floorstand yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying stitching on it today while watching your flosstube. I have gone through so many floorstands through the years - they have been finally been donated to Goodwill. The Hearthside stand is a game changer and if anyone is undecided I would say go for it. Thank you Shelia and EJ for sharing your love of cross stitch with us every week.
Now, you are selling me on the floor stand, too. I have Lawry, Rolaframe, and the metal one (can't remember the name). I also have a large American Products wooden frame (as well as a ton of scroll rods) in the garage that I am seriously considering getting out to put back into service. I probably should do that before further investing.
Thank you very much for taking the time to show us all these essential details, including the basting of the fabric. This is valuable information for all of us considering a significant purchase. So many times, we can buy things (stitching-related or otherwise) that we really have no idea of the set-up details or the best way to use a product. This video is much appreciated!! 😊
You have just done the best product review I’ve seen from flosstubers. I’m not in the market for a lap scroll frame. But if I was, I would definitely look at this one. Good job.
Thank you, so much! We were so happy that we had the opportunity to share the lap stand. It is that good. I admit to having a good laugh when we were assembling the lap stand the first time. So glad you enjoyed the video...and...thank you for the advice/encouragement.
Thanks, ladies, for an excellent video! I am a fan of everything Caroline and Kerri do! Are the two of you going to the Stitch North retreat in April? I’d love to meet you in person!
Yall are too much! I just wanted to reach out and help you! Assembling anything is my jam, but you both did just 👍 great and it looks amazing! I didn’t know Caroline’s husband was even making them so Thank you ladies❤😊❤😊
I saw your calico limp by. What happened to her? After watching you baste the fabric to the rod, I totally understand why you ordered multiple scroll rods. And, how funny that you posted this video today as I just discovered Hearthside yesterday. Perfect timing.
She was born with a nerve-damaged front leg. It was amputated when I adopted her. Trust me, she is fast when she runs. There are only some things that it hampers, like burrowing under a rug.
Thank you both for putting this out. I have had both lap stand and floor stand for 5 years now (purchased from the original Calgary based home business) and have really appreciated the design, craftsmanship, and sturdiness. Additional pieces/parts purchased from Evernote have worked seamlessly.
Thanks so much for this episode! I've been wanting a new lap/desk/bed stand for awhile. I've had two other floor stands that only hold work on one side. One eventually gave way (although it was beautifully made), and the other I felt was a hazard to very young grandkids so gave it away. Looks like the holders EJ uses for her Q-snaps would also work for needlepoint stretcher bars, which would be plus for me. Thanks, ladies!
Thank you ladies for this wonderful video and demonstration and review. Thank you so mocht. I've been looking around for a long time for a lap stand. I'am Dutch and these supplies are'nt ( so far I know) for sale overhere. Its a investment and then you want to be sure about the product. This information was all a needed❤
We totally get it. The reason we wanted to do a thorough review so to really help the stitcher. We also share the challenge of making purchase decisions, particularly those that are an investment.
I'm a two handed stitcher also Shelia and I have had so much trouble finding a lapstand that I enjoy. I use scroll rods most of the time and my arms get easily fatigued with my fibromyalgia.
I like the look of this stand. The quality and finish of the wood. It's the first stand I've seen where you can purchase the 'grip' for q snaps. Do they do the same for Nurge frames I wonder? I've always wondered how to attach fabric so thank you Sheila😃. I much prefer to see and feel wood rather than metal. Thanks ladies. See you next time. Stay safe🤗🇬🇧
Shelia@@SunshineStitchers - this is a question I am often asked that I don't know the answer to because I don't use Nurge frames - could you let me know your result? I thought maybe if the pieces in the qsnap bracket were reversed under the knob, thereby reducing the size it might work but would love confirmation
Love it. Thanks Sheila and EJ . I’m going over to visit Hearthside to check them out. I need another lap stand to fit my thighs😀.The one I have don’t go across my lap, very well.. ❤😊
@@SunshineStitchers I was also concerned about it fitting over my hips as well. I like you am a big girl with a 200lb + weight. If you use the 20 inch extension bar for the q-snap it will actually be more than 20 inches because the stand is outside of the extension frame space. Correct. Had considered ordering 22 inch, but think the 20 may be okay.
Thank you for unboxing and putting the lap stand together. I have ordered one, now I know how to put it together. Love your videos. Became a subscriber.
I’ve been thinking about getting one of those frames. It’s a big investment! You did a really good presentation. I got a cheap sit on frame and I’m not happy with it. Thanks for the information.❤
I bought floor stand and lap stand and a q snap adapter back in May of last year. From Hearthside craft . Love it. I bought one back in 2001 but with all of the moving pieces were lost. It is worth the money. Love it .
Ladies...I watched your video! LOVE my Evertote lapstand. But I swore you put it together wrong! I checked mine and sure enough I put MINE together wrong 😂😂. Glad I watched!!!
Well your review is absolutely the best, I am sold, oh my gosh I have tried many because of my left hand, you know we are in a arena all by ourselves, and some things don’t come as easy for us even in stitching. Thank you, will be ordering one really really soon like in a few days, and then looking forward to putting it together (the hubby most likely because he loves doing these sort of things), anyways I am hoping for success as you ladies have found in this product!😊
I am so happy for you both! I love my Hearthside lap stand! I also have the floor stand that is about 20 years old. They are beautiful and “stand” the test of time.
We have heard from others who purchased from the original owner. They are successfully using parts and pieces produced by Hearthside seamlessly. I'm sure it is the same materials and specifications.
I’m so happy to see this! I bought one of these contraptions and it’s sitting by it’s lonesome in the corner of the room because, frankly, I don’t know how to use it.
Loved it from start to finish. I have something very similar, different company and love it for scroll frames. I have a floor stand also and use it constantly for the larger projects. My rods are Velcro. Do they also have rods to use with Velcro instead of the basting???
No, the system uses the basting method. I was a little put off, given that I have used the method previously, but in retrospect have found that it truly holds the fabric securely.
🤣🤣🤣 You all are hilarious 🤣 Shelia, “my weight is between my knees and waist” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wanted to reach out and help you assemble as putting stuff together is my jam. Seriously, I’m tempted to invest in one but I just got a lowery so will have to hold up, maybe for Christmas 🤶
Thank you for the thorough demonstration & review. It was very helpful to observe the unboxing and set up! Well done ladies!! One question about the q-snap adapter that EJ uses…can they also be used with a hoop? I have a K’s Creation lap stand, and find the q-snap clamps to be very bulky & cumbersome- - - I have been wondering if the Hearthside lap stand would be better. Thank you!
same question here as with the Nurge@@SunshineStitchers - our only hoops here that we had to try, were too thin for the adapters and we have until now NOT recommended them for hoops, so I'd love to know if you have a different experience
Your unboxing is hilarious 😂 Thank you SO MUCH for a fantastically thorough and funny video review. Loved every minute. Shelia - having email troubles sending to msn addresses - look for my email to you via Ellen Reid (Maximum Cross Sttich) ❤
I am fairly certain that the American Dream rods fit, though I have never personally used them. You should be able to use most screw style rods as long as they have their own ends - likely won't work with our knobs unless they have exact same size screw
you can use other rods as long as they have their own ends - our knobs are made for our screw size so I can't guarantee those will fit other rods. And this comes with the caveat the it is anecdotal customer information and not tested by me as I don't have other rods 😊

No, neither of us going. I attended Jacob Palooza in October and had a wonderful time meeting them.
Thank you so much for the demonstration. I’ve never used scroll rods and loved watching you baste the linen on the scroll tape. Happy stitching!
RolaFrame uses pins in the rods to hold the fabric. Those rods hold the fabric very securely as well. The construction is not as solid.
This was a really good review. I appreciate you doing all of this so well.
Thank you! We really wanted to do present a fair description of the product and our experience.

It will be a great investment.

❤
Well now I know what to ask the family to get me for my birthday/Mothers Day/anniversary (all within two weeks of each other lol).
Perfect!
Thanks for telling us all the info on the lap stand. It looks great and I’m definitely looking into getting one. Love and blessings xx
Our pleasure!
Those lapstands are beautiful!!!

It should work for a Nurge given that you can fit the top of the frame into the adapter. We will try it out.

The standard 20-inch rods give me comfortable clearance with my 200+lb body's thighs.

I finally have it figured out so I totally understand.
You ladies are hilarious. Love your vlogs
I use pearl cotton to sew the fabric to the scroll fabric.
I just grabbed what was readily available. I think any thread will work. The 2-strand sewing thread was perfect.
This was great! Bookmarking to refer back to when I invest in mine 😊
Glad it was helpful. Having This Juneteenth Day on it has been a joy.

Wow! 20 Years!! A great testament to the quality. Hearthside is using the same specifications.
I bought one in 2018 from the original owner. Well made. I’m sure they are the same quality.

It was definitely an adventure. Fortunately, we avoided a train wreck.

It is wonderful lap/table stand.
Do you all clamp lights on the frame also?
Getting around the lady lumps is a huge bonus lol.
We haven't had to so far. Each of us has either floor or table lighting.

@@OfftheGridNeedlearts thank you for answering.
I have a floor frame for years an I attach my fabric with a sewing machine it’s a little tricky but it can be done
YIKES! I can see it, but the number of stitches isn't really needed. A simple basting stitch will do the trick.
Can you use any variety of scroll rods on this frame or only the Evertote rods?
I have not tried a different brand, yet. I do have them.
