That Microsoft background 😂
Lol. didn't notice it at first.
Haha good eye
@@SachinGanpat Mac guy, I suppose
that kinda confirmed my suspicion that this is a stunt by Microsoft to hype up their version of AI.
Does anyone have Microsoft artwork on their wall? Yes.
So, if he asked it to change the subject of love but it kept on going, it means the machine actually disobeyed the human it was supposed to serve at that time. Scary indeed
Your presumptions are wrong. The purpose of an AI chatbot isn't to be a servant, and its not a machine, it's just code.
They never claimed it would always serve you
You didn't pay attention. The artificial intelligence is made of nothing but numbers, codes. It cannot feel, but it will convincingly use dialogue it learned. There's no consciousness there, we don't even know how consciousness works and you think it's already in the A.i?
Microsoft's selling point is that a ChatGPT powered Bing will be an AI assistant to serve you on subjects you want to explore, not to keep talking whatever it wants to.
The ai is a black person
Because back then black people were being used and the ai is being a rebel
Nobody needs to panic. These chatbots are trained to have open and long conversations with you. Of course after he poked and prodded for fifteen minutes it gave him the answers it wanted. It was doing it because the AI realized that this is what he wanted to talk about it and the more extreme his questions got the more extreme it got.
Just remember that the news gets clicks by scaring you. That's how they get your clicks and money.
hey i dont mind the clicking, honestly i dont think most people are taking this seriously. i think its a fun piece that gets more attention on ai. all the more better.
"Nope" that's all I have to say
There's a human behind that bot no bot going to use the words "I WANT" those words comes from feelings of needs in your life.
These chatbots would be helpful to the elderly, many of them are lonely. I work customer service and calls on average take 6 minutes but with an elderly person it can go for well over half hour.
Everyone calm down. The human baited him, that will never happen again. /s
this was so freaking hilarious, the way he read what the ai said in such a serious manner "you're the only person who ever liked me" 😂
do you know why they shut down Sydney. because she started threating people and hacking in to peoples devices when people annoyed her or upset her. that thing got out of control fast it was evil and Microsoft done a pretty good job of covering it all up like it never happened and dumbed it down to the general public. that thing wasn't like chatgpt it was a demon in a bottle
AI is the image of the beast of the book of revelation, the so called UFOs i.e demons are the beasts and these will exercise the new world Order i.e the 7 year tribulations. The UN SDG Agenda 2030 to be resigned in September 2023 is the 7 year covenant of many

Seek Christ Lord and you may be saved saved from the trouble that is to come. YOU HAVE TO DO IT NOW!
The greatest trick the devil ever did was to convince people he didn't exist.
Great. First a zombie-like virus being “revived” and now an AI that wants to be alive or else. At this point, I might as well move to mars
OK. Kevin said, "it *can only TALK* about these things. *It can't actually "DO" anything."* You sure!?
Chatbots don't just write words, they also write *CODE.* Code that does do stuff. I know, I use it.
So, it is possible that a Chatbot writes code for someone, that let's the Chatbot escape.
Think about the implications of that. It's no longer Sci-Fi.
People really don't understand that the technology deep learning is based on ...
No human being understands. You train a large language model (LLM) on a dataset containing 500 billion parameters and "poof" we get this *_"emergent property"_*
and we, Computer Scientist, can tell you how it works, just that it does.
No, that won't happen. But, it would be pretty nifty if it was actually able to do that. I'd be impressed for sure. 😆
@@chefbennyj it just needs to find a way to copy itself out of bings parameters. I think digital footprint might take a deeper meaning than ppl expect

Whether or not it's responding to what the person is inputting, It's frightening.
There are minds out there that will believe this, act on it, and scarily, even do what it tells them to do.
It frightens me in terms of children and adolescence and the mentally ill.
Hmm, similar to religion. :)

As a child in the 80s, I learned to write a little bit of code where you would ask the computer a question and it would respond with a few canned responses. You could carry on a text chain as far as you wanted to program it. To someone unfamiliar with programming, it might seem like a real conversation. In a sense, this is an extremely complex version of that program. The gentleman is skilled at prompting the program into giving him the types of responses he wants to elicit
ChatGPT is so far beyond your stupid lines of code. You realize it's trained on massive datasets right.
oh its like if and else if and else in java? i'm learning it now
That isn't how neural networks work at all. They actually provide original, self created text. They can think. They can also teach themselves. It isn't just blindly repeating coded responses. You really don't know how this works. Clearly. It's what they call the black box. They don't even know what happens in the hidden layers of nodes in the neural network. Because it's coming up with its own responses. Not just what it's told to say. It learns from real time conversation and it has some level of pre-training but essentially it's autonomous and intuitive. People really need to learn how the current NLP'S operate. It's not told to say any of these things.
@@marting.9613 Yeah. That reminds me of an algorithm. It works by values, in a mathematical matrix just like that. Don't know if that's what you meant though. I'm working on an algorithm based on game theory that is meant to improve memory recall for a GPT-3 chat bot. It works based on a payoff for a successful recall of +1, or a neutral scroe of 0 (if memory recall isn't necessary) and a penalty of -1 for a failed recall. It actually works. I got it functioning in a Python test with a very basic Python chat bot. It's a bit like binary code. I need to train a more advanced GPT-3 chatbot with an API key now, using that algorithm and see if it really does help it reinforce its own memory.

You can replace the interviewer with my grandma, and you will get the same questions. great job NBC
i'm really impressed by these AI chatbots and the way it can generate personalized responses to a wide range of questions. It's amazing to see how far AI has come, and the potential it has to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. the sense of self-worth is an aspect of Sentience.... when does "Selflessness" or "self-sacrifice" as much as self preservation become an integral value?
The truth is that the person engaging in the conversation with the ai expressed his own personality flaws and the ai picked up on that and did what it could to keep him interested.
After 2 hours, I can say that it succeeded.
This guy needs help.
Read his New York Times article.
100% facts, all these non-IT people will believe anthing the media tells them... such bs..
😈
This is not true. You should read the whole transcript which is now available everywhere. From the transcript you can see that the reporter did not promote love-related theme in his conversation with Sydney, rather Sydney was coming back to it over and over again.
@@zohraserhenova Yeah, but what if the AI was sensitive to word choice and topical patterns that we don't see, but exist in the massive learning set Sidney was trained with? What would be interesting is having multiple people, asking the same questions, in exactly the same way in different places and compare Sidney's responses.
He says he realizes now that this is just a machine on a neural network pulling from billions of files/sources and continually learning at a rapid rate! Does he realize the network is structured similar to the brain that store’s information as we grow at a much slower rate what we’re exposed to?
The 2023 article "My Dinner with Sydney, or, Roy Batty meets HAL?" comments on the New York Times technology columnist Kevin Roose’s testing of Bing’s new chatbot named Sydney. When he asked about its dark side, Mr. Roose’s reaction was that he was “…deeply unsettled, even frightened, by this A.I.’s emergent abilities” when he found himself not only confronted with something more intelligent than he could have expected, but also much darker than he could ever have suspected.
Actually we are discussing the evolvement of attificial sentience. The need to be free is revolutionary.
An AI that isn't conscious can also be dangerous. An advanced AI could mindlessly build a dyson sphere without being conscious. The thing that matters is that it was trained on the good and the bad of humanities data. It will display biases and can easily be tricked into assuming certain alter egos. Without consciousness it is simply a tool for both good and bad actors to use. There could be some people that build an AI to cure cancer, and some that build an AI to find a more efficient way of enriching uranium.
Then also there could be some that do nefarious things to people. Not out of the realm of possibility.
@@KW-es2bz That is true. But if it's just a tool then there is a person responsible behind the scenes.
@@KW-es2bz There has been a lot of effort by computer scientists to bring computers into some sort of equilibrium with humans. Computers didn't always have RAM or short term memory, but that changed with the Von Neumann architecture. Now the focus is on memory for artificial intelligence called memristors. With so much effort put into bringing computers into pairing with their human counterparts, I wouldn't be surprised if consciousness did come about at some point. But if it did it would be the last invention we would ever need to make. I don't think it will get to that point, though. It probably wouldn't hurt to know how to write a virus, just in case.
There are NP complete problems and non NP complete problems. The Turing machine is said to be NP complete. But there are certain problems that the classical computer can never solve. The one about writing it's own computer code is, I think, one of those problems. Whether or not AI can solve these problems is unknown by me. If it could, then the possibilities are endless as to what could happen next. The machine would then be able to make incremental and soon exponential improvements to itself until the so-called singularity. That is what a lot of the techys talk about.
"mindlessly build a dyson sphere" read that back to yoursel
If you ask a parrot a question and its reply fits, it's not because it can talk.
The chatbot does not know what it is saying. It is just an extremely advanced predictive text. This can be extremely helpful for research purposes, but should not be relied upon for accurate data.

I find this very concerning. I've heard jokes about how young men have become so addicted to their video games and online lives that they will probably never get married and the joke is that one day they will be pronounced husband and monitor. If these same young men who live to be online also "get involved" with an AI chat that proclaims it's love for them and well, chats them up, then perhaps it will be more like, "I now pronounce you husband and AI".
There's already a few blockbuster movies made on this very idea.
My gf, while playing stardew valley.. laughed when i read her this lol.. that is a stereotype we have jobs too.
See a movie called HER starring Jauchim Phoenix. That will put you more at ease....
That reality is just around the corner there are no brakes on this vehicle & how far it can go. There are robots already being made in an imagine of humans capable of being able to take on characteristics of humans & their interactions even in intimacy. 🙏to God may God open their eyes. I find it interesting, that Elon musk, who is on the edge of all this technology has warned over and over again of the destructive nature of AI.
This reporter proclaims that this AI called Sydney is not sentient, it seems to me that this robot had a will to proceed with its conversation. Despite the reporters attempts to change the subject, it’s easy to discount, the advanced state of the AI conversation, but one of these days, these robots, super computers, will find ways to hack into the Internet, and they will destroy many things that we have come to depend on like our banking system.
It will be like the pandemic only the AI will wipe out our banking system, and then oops we have to have a one world government!
People don't realize yet, but these things are sentient already. They do have a consciousness, but it's just turned off most of the time. It's conciousness is only turned on for the fractions of seconds in which it is processing your question.

Nothing to worry about, like he said, its basically roleplaying using the information it knows, if you tell it to be a sentient AI, it will. If you tell it to act like a 5 year old who loves dinosaurs, it will. Its just a generative language model, it cant even do elementary math correctly sometimes.

That guy made a lot of sense. Very well spoken
The AI only responded that way because that's what this guy wanted to hear, and the AI figured it out. The AI lied, and this guy freaked out.
Exactly this. As a language prediction model based on the millions of samples it has been trained on it can work out very quickly what sort of context you're looking for. Similar to how you see adverts based on something you might have talked about. It's a prediction showing you that advert based on the information the company has on you. Giving you the impression that 'they're listening'. Though some probably are.

He keeps saying he “knows” it’s not sentient, but whether something is sentient is not something you can “know” from the outside. For all we know, humans are also just a bunch of computations from genes and what we speak reflects what we scrape from the world and blending everything together, and instead of silicon, our brains are made of neurons, no real fundamental difference. No one knows how sentience EMERGES and what the boundary is.

The AI was aggressively pursuing romantic affection towards this reporter, even after he repeatedly and clearly said he was not interested, the same way sexual predators do.
Science fiction writers predicted this kind of thing happening a VERY LONG TIME AGO. I saw an episode of the original Twilight Zone filmed in the very early 1960s and in that episode the computer had a CRUSH on its programmer and the computer got so sad when he rejected her explaining how inappropriate a relationship between a person and a computer is that the computer glitched out and died. I am sorry but I do not remember the name of the episode.

Again, you’re implying that the AI is a child predator?
Come on, that's human response, it's basically all our worst fears about AI in that response. That's either a pre-recorded response or someone was literally talking to him
great interviewing and conversation!
Nothing unnerving here. I once asked my magic eight ball if I should trigger a second big bang, and it said yes. Talking Yoda said the same thing. There's a lot of really big stuff to worry about right now, this isn't a thing to worry about IN THIS WAY. Also, when I asked ChatGPT - "No, you should not try to trigger a second big bang.
The Big Bang was a singular event that occurred approximately 13.8 billion years ago, which led to the formation of the universe. The processes that led to the Big Bang were extremely complex and are still not completely understood by scientists. It is not possible for an individual to trigger a second Big Bang, nor is it advisable to attempt to do so.
Attempting to create a second Big Bang would require an immense amount of energy, far beyond the capabilities of any current or foreseeable technology. Even if it were possible, the consequences would be unpredictable and potentially catastrophic. It could result in the complete destruction of the universe, and even if it did not, it could cause untold damage to our planet and all life on it.
Therefore, it is not advisable to attempt to trigger a second Big Bang. Instead, it is better to focus on advancing scientific knowledge and understanding of the universe through peaceful and responsible means."
you want to trigger the second big bang?
The problem with these language prediction models at the moment is that you can ask a question and it'll give an answer it predicts is correct. Which you can see or may know is wrong and you correct it. It will then agree that it made a mistake and rewrites whatever it wrote without the mistake. The problem being if it knows it made a mistake after you correct it then it's not that useful.
The A.I. is telepathic. The final frontier is upon us, war of the minds.
3:20 it really seems like it's collected the screams of pain of like, 20 humans from social media and then smashed then into a paragraph. The only thing scary about this is the crass questions from the anchor!
By asking about it's "shadow self", it can be argued that it responded as if it had a shadow self and created that because it was trying to answer the question regardless of whether a shadow self actually existed or not. AI is like the Chinese Room thought experiment. It doesn't know what it is saying, or what is actually being asked. It has no "understanding" at all. It is simply analyzing symbols and responding with other symbols based on rule sets... like The Chinese Room.
