Jagan's back! I'm already a dev, but a programmer instead of an artist. And I wanna go indie one day so I know I'll have to develop that "eye" because art is king (sadly, for my abilities lmao). So it's always nice hearing these deep dives on art direction and why some things may feel off, despite my current lack of ability to express what it is. In the general sense, yea. I agree that E7 (and honestly, 90% of the remaining 2d gacha) have been kinda slacking lately. I think even Asia is feeling a bit of the economic issues in the industry right now. Though, gacha make so much money (and Asia pays much less than the West) that they resist it way better than console games. But still; If you're not making Nikke money, these games aren't gonna go full 11/10 like they would over in the pandemic days. E7 is kind of in-between, because if you go from 10/10 animation to 9/10, it's not gonna be as noticeable as a 7/10 to a 5/10 like most other gacha.
White outfit works if there's texture(baggy clothes/layers) or they're flapping around, gives them depth or dynamic feel. Tights with no colour pattern is just meh
apparently the censorship committee/board in Korea got shut down for corruption. They were blackmailing different gacha games for bribes, or they'd come after them or something? And after they set their sights on Blue Archive, their gamers got pissed and petitioned the government to look into them or something. Explains why some games had considerably lewder designs and got away with it, while other games got in trouble.
As a day1 player I find ML Luna quite disappointing from a design standpoint, especially after all these years of progression. The outfit is very plain/boring and because of it the emphasis on her breasts makes them look like a couple of weightless balloons. An example of a quality big chested character we have ML Roana. The outfit is visually appealing with a ton of interesting/intricate details and even though she's well endowed, they are not the sole focus of attention. There's a lot to like, for people with various tastes there. The suspected ML Ilynav you showed at the 14min mark is looking on point btw. Also, I agree with your breakdown of transition animations during S3 animations. E7 has screwed the pooch a bunch of times and one of the more egregious examples, as you mentioned, being ML Senya (don't get me started on ML Charles). Not sure what the animation director was thinking approving the weird S3 angles/framing during her S3 to be quite honest. I've also had issues with the blinding flashes as transitions for many characters. I understand it's a cheap/easy way to make an animation transition, but it is not great for the eyes. Tweaking them to make them less of an assault on the eyes would be a godsend. Lastly, on the subject of skins. I've been saying the same thing as you for years and yet SG has done nothing. It would take them no effort at all to add new art poses, if they wanted to be really lazy about it. Then they could do completely new skins/animations for characters at a premium. Having a midpoint tier where you have a new skin, but not include the animation, or vice versa, would also be a good way to reach even more players. We have all those skin tickets as well and nothing to use them on, unless you skip RTA and want to purchase the skins instead. Anyway, thats my rant. Keep up the good work on these reaction/breakdown vids. Cheers mate!
lemme be the story nerd, the side story is GAME OF PRINCES the alternate story of green vivan after fire kawerik dies in episode 2, also moonlight theater is good but only the theater of ml cedonia FALLEN LAND after that RUNAWAY FIGHTER the ml luluca and bellona story only has good music the rest are a snooze fest in my humble opinion ofc

Idk why I'm not impressed with Mage Luna. For other ml unit, i always loved a "new" look for my og waifus. even male ones had cool fashion. But ml luna looks stale, makes sense it's her old design. I guess I'm tired of white haird babes with muted color clothing(choux,luna,sigret,brieg,peira,emilia,yulha,belian)
