    In this video I show you how I installed a furnace in my garage. And I go over how a high efficiency furnace works.

    I knew there was something I liked about you, lol. I’ve got over forty years in the HVAC business here in Florida. Got home from installing three systems and a chiller system for the nitro fuel in our race trailer. We purchased Rusty Wallace’s nascar trailer and have been converting it for drag racing, first run on the dragster will be Monday🤞🤞. I’ve found it best to crimp you snap lock facing down stream to prevent possible whistling , very important on dryer venting as the crimp will catch lint . Nice work Doug

      Chillers, nice. That's what I deal with mostly now. But for some reason I still like working on residential equipment from time to time.
      I'll bet that's a nice trailer, good luck on Monday. 🤞

    Thanks for running through your install... I put a small 220V electric heater in the shop because it was an easy install. Seeing this, I will have to put a gas upgrade on the to-do list. The electric is great if I fire it up right when I get out of bed, but I'd rather have it warm up quickly... Sometimes I only have a short window to get out in the shop and work.

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  2 роки тому

      I was in the same situation. I too have a 220v heater out there. But it really only works if it's pointed right at me. It's not enough to really warm up the whole area.
      Now I'm unstoppable! 😁

    Nice to see an install. I just picked up a working 1995ish Coleman Evcon 100k for my 2000sqft shop for free. It’s an 80% but the parts are readily available and cheap and the older ones seem to be steady Eddie’s if they’re taken care of.

      Nice, those 80% furnaces can run for years and years if you keep them clean and dry.

    I like how you blew up the gas line going to the garage. Only thing I noticed was no intake on furnace. Going to lose some efficiency for that makeup Air? Also, only difference I would have done on the gas line is a ball valve to isolate the garage hookup. Easy enough to install one with that union there.

    Hey Doug thanks for the video I recently installed a suburban lp rv furnace in my 12x25x10 ' garage. Garage is fully insulated except for roller garage door . The Furnace is 30.000 Btu I ran the lp hose towards the front of garage so I can change out tanks I put on outside right of building . The furnace heats garge quick from 40 to 65 in like 10 minutes so I am happy installing wifi thermostat tomorrow . Like you I will use it when I am working in garage and keeping tools and equipment warm makes it alot easier on this old man hands. I was doubly cousios installing this being very aware of venting and carbon monoxide . I have it running of a battery 12 volts and a auto charger maintainer so either way Ill have heat if power gos out . NOw I kinda wish I had found your video earlier BUT I know nothing about home furnaces and ther installs and I do not have much floor spae for one we will see how this works .

I changed wires around and got it to shut off when nit hit correct temp but ow it is saying I need to hook up C wire for WiFi to work (sigh) SO now I have ordered a C wire power supply nd will hook that up and see if I can keep WiFi connected to thermostat (sigh)

    Awesome! Wish my house had natural gas service. I'm limited to propane in my neighborhood and it's crazy expensive. Right now I'm paying $2.07/gallon on a whole sale co-op price plan. After Jan of 2021 the prices sky rocketed. I was paying $1.45/gallon this time in 2020. You do the math... Anyway I'll be getting another 500 gallon tank this summer so I can install an overhead radiant heater in my garage. I figured this would be the best for that application given that I have a massive American Pacemaker lathe in there and a Bridgeport style knee mill too. They'll soak up the heat and help to make it last longer. My other shop has an old wall unit installer. It does a pretty good job when I run it. However that shop needs insulation and drywall before I'll even attempt to run it longer than 30 min to break the chill on days where I can't tough it out.

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  2 роки тому

      Wow, I never realized propane was that expensive. Natural gas is cheap, even now. I mean I'm still careful with running it, but it's mainly just because I don't like to waste energy. Not so much the costs. Like you sometimes I try to tough it out. 🥶

    • @AMetalWorks
      @AMetalWorks 2 роки тому

      @@DougBugBuilder Yeah I didn't realize it either until I moved into a more rural neighborhood. If I would have known, I'd have definitely looked for a house with natural gas. It's extremely expensive every winter. So expensive that I pretty much shut down working in my shops as a result. However it's important that I keep my lathe and mill from rusting. I'm going to need to keep the garage at around 45-50 all winter. I plan on replacing the doors and spray foaming the roof. The walls already have fiberglass bat in them. The doors are the biggest issue. The wind almost always blows towards them. One winter the snow blew in through the gaps and covered damn near everything with a light dusting of snow.

      @Cory Gill Man the way you write is really entertaining, I love it.
      When I was in Illinois we had installed a Daikin VRF system in an office building. They kept complaining because it was bringing in humidity because of the outside air requirements. So they were complaining about the system a lot. I ended up showing them the energy savings they were getting compared to when it was just RTU's up on the roof. Suddenly they had much more respect for the new system. 😁😁

      It doesn't get cold enough in the garage for the trap to freeze. But I did notice if it's really cold when the inducer starts up some of the water in there will freeze and prevent the inducer from making the air proving switches. Once I had to blow a hair dryer at the inducer to get it fired.
