The lead singer of Twisted Sister, Dee Snyder, went in front of Congress sometime in the 80’s to defend no censorship. He went in and mopped up Congress with his position. Really cool.

@@theidajawho And John Denver. Who was invited as he made white bread seem exciting. But he totally told that Senate Committee they were wrong. Tipper Gore's little PMRC hearings were a total flop when it came to the musicians she invited.

John Denver’s testimony was killer too. As well as Frank Zappa, Blackie Lawless, Rob Halford and others.

@@CBGB_1977 True but I have personal reasons to hate John Denver lol! My dad worked at Heavenly Valley ski resort where he had a celebrity ski thing every year for charity. One year they were gonna have Mister T in it and I begged my dad to see him! He took me and sat me in the celebrity food tent. John came in saw me and stsarted screaming who's F&%%&*T kid is this! My dad had words with him and I got to meet Mister T but I will always remember how much of an asshat he was to a 7 year old!

Had to be one the funniest videos out there by far, for everybody that's out there that is too young, the father played in animal House the movie with John Belushi, that's where the pledge pin comes into play, you watch the movie you'll understand.

😄 Lol... Most parents in the '80s were like that. Most... not all. I was 11 when this song & video came out and my siblings couldn't help but laugh because he sounded so much like our dad.

The whole scene in the bedroom is a riff on the dad actor's role in Animal House. It's a reference to scene in the movie.

This was the anthem for my generation. Our parents didn't understand our love of METAL and I can remember my dad giving the same speech as that boy in the video's dad did. I can still hear those words ring in my ears and I'm in my 50's! My first tattoo was the Twisted Sister logo on my right hand and I was only 12 when I got it! LOL...total rebel

The lead singer is Dee Snider and he’s a genuinely good guy! Year ago he testified, along with John Denver, against censorship & for Public Enemy’s right to put out their controversial rap songs! And he’s still speaking up against injustice. Follow him on Twitter to see for yourself! 👏♥️💪

The father is Douglas Neidermeyer from the movie Animal House. Great movie from 1978. You should check it out. It's about a drunken party frat house, starring John Belushi. Neidermeyer belongs to the straight-laced glammer boy frat house next door, and is in ROTC. Same lines.

I saw Twisted Sister back in.... 1987 I THINK (drugs man, not sure what year lol) at the Orpheium Theater in Boston. As Im standing outside, here comes Dee walking from the street to the front door to the Orpheium. Of course everyone goes up tp him for his autograph. Towards the end is me, wearin a blue jean jacket with band names & several autographs on it. He sees me, looks at the jacket, asks me to turn around so he can take a good look at it and says “something’s missing”. “What? No there’s not” I respond. He forcefully turns me around... really studies the jacket... Im 6’8” and not an easy person to move so this took FORCE... turns me to the right... then the left... asks for a marker then tells me to lift my left arm and keep it in the air. He draws the fuckin TS symbol on the jacket & colors it in (whole time he’s just diggin into my side) then signs him name under the symbol. Hands me back the marker & says “NOW your jacket is fuckin complete!” We talked for about 30 seconds afterwards and he’s a really nice guy - he was just givin me shit for not having TS on it 😂😂 still have the jacket hanging in my closet.

It was funny. Their lesser known song the the kids are back was my jam back then in the day. I am I'm me another favorite.

For this video and the video for I Wanna Rock, the band wanted it to be lighthearted aand kinda like the old Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote cartoons. For both videos they got Mark Metcalf to reprise his role in Animal House. In the video for I Wanna Rock, they also got the actor who played Flounder in Animal Hose to play the School Principal
Back when these videos came out, my generation(Gen X) were familiar with the movie Animal House, so we mostly laughed at the Dad in the video.

I hated them, and still do. Their sound/production is shit, their songs are shit, they are cross-dressing joke-posers. That said...one of the guitarists was interviewed recently and said that when promoters call them, they show up to gigs and the only music they play is their old hits. So, they get hired all the time because they give the audience exactly what they want, and, are apparently making a fortune doing it.
    So for that... "Respect."
