There is a score counted toward shifting to next gen. Defeating 2 seven heroes definitely advance to next gen. Sometimes I need to beat few more battles to stop advancing to next gen.
You could always pretend that the companion you chose (in the case of the emperors death in battle) was their sibling or something. Games great at allowing whatever you want as head cannon
Phantasy star 3 is far simpler though you need Sega Genesis collection emulation and a guide to play it. Dragon Quest 5 just recycles hair colors and resorts to twins lol. I just wanted to compare RS2 which I'll skip, seems tedious. Hope there's a dash button. I do have RS3 and you can hit a wall with some characters.
I am a little confused about the emperors. At 5:48 you state that the new emperor keeps the same weapon and magic levels as the old emperor, but then at 6:50 you mention that the final emperor's stats are based on the *global* levels rather than inherited from the last character. Is this a special condition for the final emperor, or does the emperor always inherit based on the global levels?
Sorry, I should have been more clear. They are always based on the global levels plus or minus the character's unique stat modifiers (which I cover in the Stats and Leveling video). That's true for every new character you recruit, including new emperors.
Hell yea man! You started making these videos as I started playing for my first time and I really appreciate your work!

True, I love that about it
This game is the most ludicrously complicated mess I've ever played.
It's fun though.
Hahah, accurate
