In-Session - Estate Lake Tench on the Float

- This video takes me back in time to my childhood when I spent countless hours float fishing on the stunning estate lake.
It's something I rarely do nowadays, but have to admit that when it comes to pure enjoyment, you just have to forget about huge specimens, alarms and two rods for a minute and simply unwind and chill out in breathtaking scenery.
Its rare these days to find a hidden gem, especailly one that's available to all, one that's hidden away from noise and light pollution where tench bubbles erupt around the float top as it nestles agains a Lilly pad, before sinking below the surface. A place where Carp are rare and Tench dominate, Cuckoo's call in the distance and Gold Crests sing along with Mallard chicks picking insects off the surface, it really is a special place.
Hopefully this video will inspire you to dust of the float rod, take a step back in time and enjoy what fishing is all about, relaxing, witnessing the incredible countryside that's there for all, oh, and obviously catching a few tench!
Catching loads of fish on the float really isn't that difficult, however to do so you really do have to be get up mega early, feed sparingly and pay a little attention to detail. Get all these in place and expect that rod to bend and the clutch to scream!

I was the chap sat opposite…….having had a few in first 15 mins and one when you arrived, then felt quite jealous when you were into a tench it seemed every 5 minutes!

A nice lake Duncan, I fished it a few times last year with fair results, but was constantly plagued with crayfish.
Hi Duncan, Yesterday 31st May I had a 7lb 3oz from that lake at the far end.

Great video Duncan. Could I ask what hookbait you were using? Think you said pellet paste. What size of paste did you use and do you mold it around the hook?

Paste made from halibut pellets, simply grind up and then add hot water. Size wise, basically enough to mold and cover whatever size hook Im using which in this case was either a 10 or 8.
