- A mass-produced MS of the Earth Federation Forces manufactured in Jaburo. Unlike the Guncannon, which specialized in medium-range firepower support without focusing on MS battles, this machine is based on the RX-78-02 Gundam, which was basically designed as a multirole machine that can be equipped with various equipment. In order to rebuild the strength of the Federation Forces as quickly as possible, its structure was simplified and costs were reduced with an emphasis on productivity, so it is a step behind the Gundam, especially in armor strength and reaction speed. Even so, it has become an MS with sufficient performance to serve as a mainstay weapon.
This Unit is equipped with a Shoulder Cannon (not to be confused with the GM Cannon). A medium range weapon with a magazine mounted in the rear. It's set on the left side of the backpack and has a moveable base.
I love remembering that these are real robot war machines and not G-Gundam like muscle trace systems, which means at some point an entire team of engineers and programmers got together to design, test and implement a "run away like a ninny" protocol into that GM.
Reminds me of that bit in Gundam unicorn when the Zaku 1 snipers gets cornered by Jestas and it tries to self destruct, the implication that there's a button on cockpit that says "Pierce yourself with your own beam rifle and blow up the generator".

Exactly, I really hate the animators of this series with passion, sht like this is the reason why Gundam don't get to be more popular, and it is baffling that they don't get most of their sales come from older male. They really should have go with the s-gundam route back then.

@@ssj1507 True. They had turned an animation error of Doan's Zaku being long nosed into a badass one with a Heat Axe.
In the original episode, Doan has no weapons. Just Zaku's fists and a bunch of huge hard rocks to throw at the enemy.

why are gms always portrayed as secondaries that only serve to fire 4 shots and be obliterated?
Because at the start of the war most federation pilots are novices with very little battle experience on a mobile suit, many were just fighter pilots before.
Because its a mook suit designed to make the Gundam look cool by comparison because its a Gundam show. Anything else is nerd copium.

I'd imagine its something about ww2 germany pilot having higher score on average than allied pilots. Its like 3 digit vs 2 digit at most.
I think what upsets me the most is the lack of these as HG kits so I can get that awesome looking beam rifle! …Then I have a sinking feeling that if it does ever get made, it’ll be a P-Bandai kit. Anyways, thank you again for sharing these clips!
Atm, the closest you can get would be to take the origin gundam's shoulder cannon and put it on the Sleggar GM. Which unfortunately is pBandai

@@Fulcrox But never on a constant basis, from 0083 to Unicorn, most of the time zeon forces run rough house over most federal MS units, and when they do show the few And I do mean Few times they do show something of a good effort, it gets swatted a second later.

見せ場がほぼ皆無なのに加えて妙に芝居がかった挙動なのが気になる…オリジンのキャラ描写にも言えることだけど大根役者みたいで(もっと言えばディズニーみたいな子供向けに近い気がする)あまり好きじゃない。

Bro WHAT? The Zakus tearing shit up are HIGH MOBILITY types. Those are top preforming units piloted by veteran pilots, of course they're gonna kick the standard mass produced GM's ass especially when said GM's have inexperienced MS pilots. This is still early in Federation MS deployment so not too many pilots outside the White Base are experienced at flying MS yet.

I just want to state, in the first week of ww2, the greatest nazi ace, Erich Hartmann, was shot down (survived).
Throughout the war, supposedly great pilots of the Axis air forces were brought down by increasingly well trained pilots of the Allies.
This should be the situation here, Zakus and other machines being torn apart as their tactics are known, old hat while the GMs are superior machines with increasingly superior pilots
@@SudrianTales Except when compared to "high performance" MS like High Mobility Ground Types the standard GM is SEVERELY outclassed by both the machine and the pilot. The Standard GM is an "okay" MS with its biggest advantage was being able to use Beam weapons and being that its computer has all the data from the RX-78-2 Gundam giving it the ability to counter most of Zeon's mass produced units and others like Mobile Armours. When it comes down to it the GM is only barely above the Zaku II, since the Zaku II types by the end of the war were on par with most GM's, other suits like the Dom and Gelgoog were COMPLETELY above the GM and it took the best variations and pilots for them to stand a chance or rely on stupidly huge numbers of cannonfodder GM's and Balls to take them on.

The GM was a great machine that in many respects exceeded the Zaku.
Beam weapons isn't the only advantage as it's also lighter than the Gundam which was a fast machine.
The Dom was okay but it wasn't a game changing machine compared to the Gelgoog.
If anything the GM is a condemnation of Zeon who had 5 years of experimenting to not be able to make anything like the GM in the first place needing to get to the Gelgoog in December of 079 to finally achieve it.
Zeon was a bunch of wastrels and the GM proves it.

I know its not a good example for most, but MAN michael bays transformers movies do battle so well, the bots take cover tank shots and exchange fire until one or the other manages to outwit or overwhelm the opponent one way or another, here its a bit pathetic, i get that federation pilots aint as efficent as zeon ones, but god fucking damnit, ducking and putting your shield in front of you while firing, finding advantage points to defend and such are basic training, heck i would be able to do so and i have no training whatsoever
What a load of Bull, they are carrying beam weapons and could take down a couple of obsolete zaku models. That first guy even made the correct decision of firing everything then falling back to cover and yet the magic zaku is completely unfazed and moving at the speed of sound.

@mmowg.net thank you. It makes a bit more sense now. The legs did look somewhat like high mobility type. Only the thrusters do not stand out as much as they do space. I personally feel like movement needs be its own, or they use legs like a prototype dom. Now, with that out of way the sense does make a bit more sense, give Dom is on par with a GM.

Throughout the series, it was obvious that Tomino was biased against GMs. He always wants to make the Zakus look cool and justify that they had better mechanics and that Gundam was the exception because of Amuro being a Newtype.

@@codename1176 Technically not missing frames. My understanding is that the CGI mobile suits are still 24 fps, in line with the non-CG animation around it. However, the solidity and rigidity of CG models means it doesn't "flow" as nice as conventional animation. Frame to frame, the mecha are perfectly on model in a way that human artists just can't emulate. It's the imperfections, the bit of squish and flex and pull during the movement frames, which are typically _off-model_, that make animation seem smoother.
Is that an ammo cartridge on that beam rifle? I thought E-Pacs weren’t a thing until after the OYW.

It is because origin isn't canon. Don't let tards who buy into that one interview that says "everything animated is canon". That's true but that statement only applies to canon within it's own universe (I.E. the Doan movie is canon to Origin's timeline as opposed to the Manga that preceded it). Origin is and has always been an alternate retelling of the original Gundam and it is it's own separate thing.

You'd think the GMs were using the muscle trace system with how they were moving. I guess you got to animate the GMs acting like scared humans to make them even more pathetic.
Now that you say it, it was weird the mobile suits move and act human.
The only show that excuses it is Mobile Fighter G where the cockpit is just the pilot shadow boxing so the mobile suit follows suit.
In other Gundam shows, it is just the cockpit with joystick controls and stuff.
Seriously even real human solider don't move like this, and when people get shot, they actually look more "robot" like then people imagine.

@@solaireofastora5999 no, what I am saying the ms wouldn't run like that, their overall motion is preprogrammed (ie, pilot don't operate the ms by controlling each hands swing and legs move) in a way that provide the most effective result, the only way that make sense for the ms to react with human like motion like in the video is that either the pilot can by pass the preprogram setting (which wouldn't make sense as you can how slow it is to control the motion of each limps by yourself) or they have something like pysho frame that allow they control the ms with their brain directly.
I feel sorry for the GMs, man... they stay getting overworked by the Zaku IIs despite being based off the RX-79's data.

最初見た時オリジンマジ無理だったけど段々と内容とモビルスーツがめちゃくちゃ好きになった
At this point the gms are even bigger cannon fodder than the zakus. Even the gm equivalents in other series get their chance to shine. At least the windam got fucked over by GSD's animation. But the gms keep getting their asses kicked. At least thunderbolts gms got to kick ass on occasion. And the gms from ms igloo got their chance to shine but those are like the only examples of OYW gms not constantly getting their shit pushed in after the original series.
Idk if it's just me but does anyone else find Doan's Zaku head to look a little weird in 3D and the kit? I get that it's probably for the homage to the show, or it has some in lore explanation, but still though, anyone else?
It's meant to be a reference to how poor quality the animation was in the original Cucuruz Doan's Island episode was, with the Zaku's face being so elongated and often disproportionate.

Every Damn Time we see GMs in combat, even when they have superior weapons and numbers, they always get slaughtered. Why because of the oldest card in the game, Zeon Plot Armor no matter what the odds they always win, unless they have to fight a Gundam. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a GM team Actually win a fight against Zeon Forces?? Because the GM is supposed to be better than the Zaku’s and with the improved models they can hold their own against other Zeon MS.

The team consisting of multiple veterans or the crew with 1 veteran and 2 new deploys that have a chance of panicking and doing something stupid
