- In this episode of the route learning series, we head back into Train Simulator 2021 for a journey along the Just Trains Cornish Main Line. Utilising a custom created scenario set in the present day, we follow the real life timetable of train 1C09, the 06:24 CrossCountry HST service from Plymouth to Penzance. Stops along the way include Liskeard, Bodmin Parkway, St Austell, Truro, Redruth, St Erth, and Penzance.

The first 'u' St budeaux is pronounced as 'you' but other than that, the pronounciation was spot on
Never stop making these.
That's my patch, I'm a Redruth boy! The ruined building you passed just before the former Scorrier Station is the engine house to Hallenbeagle tin mine. There were various other similar buildings that you passed between Redruth and Camborne. That area was once the most productive tin and copper mining district in the world. They say that anywhere in the world, if there's a hole in the ground, you'll find a Cornishman at the bottom - we were famed as the best hard-rock miners!
Really enjoyed the video - thanks for posting :)
Great video. Yes you did say ST Budeaux properly. I'm from Plymouth and the detail of stations and nearby houses are spot on. Keep up the great video's
Thanks! I was questioning it. Hoping I got most of the pronunciations correct in this video as I looked them up. Glad you're liking my videos! I intend to visit the Plymouth area again soon in a future video, driving between Gunnislake and Plymouth. :)
It's pronounced St budo but spelt St Budeaux
Sint Bewdough is proper Janner speak. ;)
A very nice surprise to see you driving on the Cornish Main Line. Well done PTG Rail
Pro trick : watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@John Martin Yup, have been watching on flixzone} for since december myself :)
thank you for posting this I live in St Austell near the rail line and i can see the trains pass my home
Can you see your house on this route? XD
Great route, I look forward to see how Penzance - Truro is on TSW2.
Agreed
I think it is being extended to St Austell
@@marty51213 yes it’s been confirmed
Been on this route before, once on a railtour and on one day, 2012, just two months before that year's Olympics, I travelled the full route from London Paddington for the whole day. It was then First Great Western, all blue (now Great Western Railway, all green). Of course, the current rolling stock (equivalent to LNER's) have replaced the HSTs, certainly in the last ten years, from 2016-17 onwards. At Bodmin Parkway, there is a heritage route and at Par, another line turns off, forgotten the name. No doubt that the Royal Albert Bridge that sits on the border of Devon and Cornwall is the undoubted highlight, not only on the Cornish main line but on the route from London Paddington. Crosscountry trains travel over the bridge, from other parts of the United Kingdom, even as far as Scotland.
My local mainline! Living in Plymouth I see alot of the line between Exeter and Penzance! And an amazing train and scenario! And I can verify the scenery is pretty much spot on!! Job well done to you and the people who made the scenery!
lucky
Wow. Another long video. Thanks again Peter and I'll be sure to watch this tonight.
I hope you enjoyed it Matt! Thanks for your comment :)
5:13, the gaurd compartment is the wrong way round, never the less it was enjoyable
I hope Video125 do this route and in nice sunlight. I like your announcing the changes of speed limits.
good to see you back PTGRail
Good choice. BHBP of course gives you this route for free, requiring Western Mainlines and a bunch of other stuff as a source, but I'm undecided at this point which is actually better. The benefit of this one is taking Western Mainlines all the way to Paddington, Cardiff, or Bicester. Long drives, though! LOL
I'm debating doing a Penzance to Cardiff video in the future! :p
10:22 More precisely, St Budeaux Ferry Road. St Budeaux Victoria Road is quite close by.
Perhaps GWR placed some surplus HSTs there after they got the 800s going on the Great Western mainline.
Love the scenery in Cornwall. I like to think, too, you'd be absolutely fine about the speed. Pretend it's a time when people weren't as particular about negligible speeding. One thing I do know is your videos give me an idea of what I should be doing if I want to drive a route properly. Shame I don't have a lot of time to really learn routes.
I'm glad to see they still use shortened HSTs on the more local services.
It's a very pretty route for sure! I know in modern times even 1-2 over the speed limit could get you a serious chat with your manager, but it wasn't always that way. To be honest, I don't see what difference 1-2 makes, but I always try to drive as realistically as possible. Glad these videos help you out with your own driving! :)
Hi ptgrail great video and great to see you on UA-cam again. Your videos are really relaxing. The derelict building before Redruth are old mine works. Pump houses or engine buildings. Or winding wheels i think.
My home route, brilliant!
Great and informative video PTG Rail this is my local mainline and the scenery is pretty accurate there is no longer 2 footbridges at St Austell station the Greenish reddish bridge is no longer there as I noticed that last Saturday when I went to see the Mazey Day Cornishman Railtour ran by GBRF Class 50s 50007 and 50049.
That was St Budeau Ferry Road Station and the junction before was to St budeau Victoria Road on the Gunnislake branch
Spectacular video PTGRail i really enjoyed it love to see, videos on the HST im exited to see what else is coming!
Hey PTG, Do you take requests?
If so then i recommend the tees valley line with the class 31 from saltburn to Darlington (in tsw 2).
If you enjoy the AP 31 sounds you will be pleasantly surprised ;)
I never knew a tunnel near Truro is called Polperro tunnel, nowhere near the quaint fishing village Polperro.
very nice video, pls do a video with the class 800, 801 or 802!!!! with the LNAR or GWR or Tranns Penine :P
Old building could be a closed tin mine.
Great video as always! TGS is the wrong way round though! 🙂
Superb. Thankyou for uploading.
Fantastic video dude, thanks for content
Awwww 11:55 reminds me of video 125 hst far west
My local line! Where did you get the Class 800 GWR IET, the MTU HST sound pack and the Mk3 Sliding door coaches from? Excellent video btw, well done! However it is rare for trains, even Expresses to not call at Par and Camborne (little tit bit of knowledge there!)
West Cornwall local is gonna be good.
Another great video as usual! I noticed you didn't enable ATP that comes with the EP though, any reason behind that?
I didn’t enable ATP because it’s not in use beyond Bristol, or wasn’t the last I knew. It’s only used on the 125mph sections of the GWML as far as I’m aware.
@@PTGRail Ah I see. That makes sense then. I'll have to keep that in mind then the next time I drive on Western Mainlines then. It does make sense too as it never really gained much traction, only being implemented on the HST and class 180 if I remember correctly.
Great video
Thanks! :)
@@PTGRail next video do the bakerloo line from elephant and castle to Harrow and Wealdstone please
@@michaellittlejohns7968 he's already done it
@@jeffthedude8137 but that was from Harrow and Wealdstone to elephant and castle
Good Monday morning to you sir
Have you tried the ATP (Automatic Train Protection) option in the AP Class 43 Enhancement Pack? Ctr+P switches it on and Ctrl+' resets it. Great function to use. I enjoy it. Love your videos too!
I have indeed - but in real life it’s only fitted between London and Bristol, which is why I didn’t use it in this video. 🙂
@@PTGRail Understand. I am from South Africa and really struggle with all the different trains and liveries in the UK:) Not always sure if I am using the correct livery, say for the Midland routes:)
What is the tolerance for speeding? If there is indeed one, great video as always
Hi PTGRail. Can you please do a route learning video on the Just Trains Midland Mainline Leicester to Sheffield on the HST. Many thanks.
Great video gotta love a 43! Wasn’t it 198 built? As 43198 is the last ever built!
Per Wikipedia, "The 197 power cars produced are numbered 43002-43198". That would be 197. 43198 is listed as a Virgin CrossCountry. The video shows 43207, originally 43007 with Midland Mainline. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_43_(HST)
199 if you include the prototypes which look quite different (43000 & 43001). Without including them it's 197 - 43002 to 43198.
@NCS MDN BNSF RailfannerGuy211 Not a bad idea if he has the DLC for it. That said, he probably already has Clinchfield with TS2021. There are slight differences in the routes, so it would come down to what he wants to cover. However, the America list is only 15 videos long with two videos each on Soldier Summit (later featured in 2019 with Salt Lake) and the Racetrack.
Now that I think about it, the N-Line and a GP38-2 is a good idea. A 2020 key is recommended to add Southwestern Main Line and Nuremberg in that case, adding two more videos.
Just watching an old video where you mentioned doing Marias. You never did, as far as I can tell. Are you going to try it now on the new setup? Especially an option with the Montana Hi-Line merged route, though that would be CRAZY long.
Also, as a local, St Budeaux is pronounced Saint Bew dough
Hi. Are going to Sheffield at the weekend as the very last HST service in England(except for Cross Country) is going to depart? I don’t know when it is going to be yet? It will include Intercity Swallow Liveried 43002 which was the loco that achieved the world speed record.
45 years on and STILL more reliable than the Class 80x 😉
After what’s happened over the past few days, no one can argue with that haha 😂
Surprised you didn’t CRTL P for the APT
PTGRail how did you get the AP track and sky & weather EP on the Just Trains route? It’s not working for me.
Ive been to hayle cornwall
what mods did you use in this video I saw the Hst electric coach doors and the track was different great video !
HST electric doors are on ATS
alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/mk3-sliding-door-pack/
St,Budeaux is pronounced in Plymouth dialect: Boo-doh
Attention all.
The train now arriving at platform 1 is the Penzance Pirate special.
🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Pirate Special? XD
Must be Wednesday then
Train don’t stop Camborne Wednesdays
I know its a push but could you please tell me all the dlc you have installed for this great video as always ptg
Do you have any cab upgrades running please. Textures look better
Would love it if they bought this to tsw2 on console, my home town down to the place where I spent the most time growing up
Also it's pronounced St buedoh or boodoh if you're a janner like me 😂😂
There is actually West Cornwall Local: Penzance - Truro & St Ives ok the roadmap.
Whilst not the entire thing it's certainly coming (albeit it's Rivet games :| ) but here's hoping
@@ct1773 oh that's cool to know, thank you and yeah would love it if they extended it to plymouth
Where did you get track enhancement? How did you get the 800 to work as AI?
I got the track enhancement patch from Alan Thomson Simulation. The Class 800 is the Superalbs reskin into GWR, which also adds a working diesel mode.
I am completely out of the loop regarding what's available for Train Simulator, so this question might sound silly, but how much is missing at the moment contents-wise to run the full Aberdeen to Penzance service?
Check out the Alan Thomson sim website, I think there's a fair stretch of the west coast & east coast main lines that's driveable (if you own the required payware routes) although not the complete penzance to Aberdeen sadly.
Also where did you get that HST from?
AP HST MTU enhancement pack :)
can you do class 360 in great eastren mainline
What are the minimum specs for this game
Sir, what track modification do you use?
I have this route but it doesn't seem to work properly now
do the highland mainline
WHAt mod you used?
its called the Night Riviera Sleeper train
Its pronounced 'St. Bue-dough' but close. Or 'boo-doo'.
Route I know well having travelled between Weston & St. Ives so many times in my life. Very challenging route to drive with all the inclines & descents, especially with AP stuff with realistic wheel slip.
ua-cam.com/video/Wnd2BXbtSr8/v-deo.html
That video shows how on some stations the hst needed notch 4 on departure to even get moving, that video also demonstrates how amazingly accurate the AP Mtu enhancement pack sounds are.
Do more videos pete
Hi, it's me again. Can you cover A Train Sim World 2 Video on The Rhein Ruhr Osten Route from Wuppertal-Steinbeck To Hagen HBF in a BR 422 please. It's an S8 service by the way.
