What most people forget about Astrology is that the Rising Sign (Ascendant) contributes immensely to one's personality, not just the Sun Sign. I might disagree on some points, and agree on others. I'm an Aries and I easily very easily admit my mistakes and say sorry if my mistake did hurt anybody, and I really care if what i'm saying is going to hurt you. You don't seem to understand how Astrology works. The Rabbi gave a general description of the Signs, using some of the most extreme and weak characteristics that every Sign potentially has. Much will depend on your hour of birth and other influences. Most of Rabbi Kin's examples come from Linda Goodman' s book Sun Signs. And she was an Aries! Listen to the Introduction to Astrology lecture.
I raised and Aries child and it took me years to finally figure this one out .. The best way to handle the bossy nature is to redirect them and the best way to redirect them from impulsive decisions is to present a different ideas in the form of a question .... Example .. like do you think this would work /??? .. or what do you think about this /??? Also i had the battle of them listening to the gangster rap for years .. Then finally i asked them to do some research on propaganda and its affects and then tell me what they could find out .. Finally made some progress that way . The temper .. he is learning about meditation and that is helping . He is very smart and can pick quickly on things that excite his interests .. but if he is not interested .. forget it . but yeppers a real challenge to raise .. Remember that one also inherits certain traits. Then you have one's upbringing and education that influence Mentality as well. Taken alone, one's Astrological sign may reflect between 70% -80% of his character. Some people are very typical of their Sign because their hour of birth and other placements in their chart are of the same element as their Sun sign. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire element and would have some things in common. But if an Aries has a lot of the Water element in his chart - you would barely notice the Aries in him when you first meet him.

However, the same chart is used for all of them, and the Rabbi spoke about them only briefly specifying which of the qualities on the chart would possibly apply or not apply to a particular Sign. After a good listening of the description of a particular Sign, you should be able to guess which qualities may need refinement.

Thank you very much for sharing, however, I do have to say, that it has been my experience that the Birth Chart or Natal chart of a person at the time of their birth is simply a guide to help them have insight into their life so they know what they need to work on and what challenges they will need to overcome. In other words, turn the negative aspects into positive ones. I feel that if Astrologers look through this lens, their interpretations will be more helpful and less people will think it is 'definitive', 'unchangeable' or 'set in stone'. Rather, it will allow the focus to be on 'how can I improve so I can help others' which will allow for a path of continual seeking, learning, understanding and charity. Any act done in the service of others is an act of charity, an altruistic approach to life is limited by one's own understanding. Therefore, a furtherance of one's own understanding will allow him/her to help others in even more ways than previously possible.

Listen to the Introduction to Astrology. The Sun Sign does not fully describe one's character. You need to consider the Rising SIgn - which depends on the hour of birth as well. Then, there are other factors that contribute to molding the personality. The example of twins is addressed by Rabbi Kin. Children can have different inherent *traits* from different parents and their relatives. Moreover, each individual has a unique soul with its predispositions - to help him accomplish his unique mission. Nevertheless, if you examine closely the life of twins - you will notice how much they "do" have in common, especially in their fate.
I am a gender psychologist and relationship counselor with a focus on Torah based relationships. My comment is meant to show that after studying the zodiac and believing in it for multiple years, I have seen that it is more inaccurate than it is accurate. I believed in it because I really could see the accurate areas. It really does make sense in many ways and I'm not disputing that. But I'm saying that, after years of believing in it and even developing compatibility models between conflicting signs, I have discovered that it is more inaccurate than it is accurate, (much because of augmenting factors you already mentioned). To the point where it is no longer a useful tool in building a healthy relationship. I will not go further into it, but I have discovered something about relationships that I do not hear much from orthodox Judaism, which is that 80% of the relationship depends on macro-expectations and behavioral patterns found in objective masculinity and subjective femininity. In short, the problem with 80% of relationship today is not a matter of zodiac, but a matter of women's liberation of 1969 and the subsequent feminism in the west that caused women to become masculine and objective minded instead of feminine and subjective. Women are less happy because they are taught to live and act like men in many areas of life. To be dominant and to conquer the world instead of being pure and creating peace and comfort in the home. We are definitely living in an Isaiah 3 time.
You have made some valid points, but they don't concern Astrology. Astrology among compatible Signs does not guarantee that two individuals will succeed in any relationship, Marriage or Friendship. This generation has certainly many more challenges than in the past and couples need much guidance and counseling to help them succeed.. However, these lectures were designed by Rabbi Kin to demonstrate "some" of the makeup of human character, including strengths and weaknesses as seen in Astrology. By becoming familiar with how people's character varies with their Sign - we can learn to be more tolerant of them.

I had my personality temperament tested according to the respected Myer-Briggs personality test. I'm an INFP, the idealist healer. We are all about helping others. We also love like few could imagine. No, I don't hog conversations because I very much want to hear and listen to others. I look for ways and go out of my way to help and to be considerate. Just some examples. Also what bothers me is he didn't stress generally speaking nearly enough but spoke more emphatic, matter-of-fact.

It is a well known fact that the hour of birth contributes immensely to one's personality. In Astrology the Mazal of the hour is the Ascendant. Your Birthday basically determines your Individuality and sense of mission with certain qualities that describe how you know yourself to be. The temperament is affected by other influences which I cannot describe at this time. Rabbi Kin's description is a general description of the Sign. Not every Aries has 100% of the qualities of that Sign. Depending on the hour of birth the average individual will notice that he fits the Sign 70%. Many of the qualities that you described about yourself are actually Aries. You may have missed them in the lecture because the real life examples that Rabbi Kin sometimes uses portray the "extreme" Aries and not the more generous and gentle one - many of which exist and to which you may belong.
I think that one should take into account that it is more than just your sun sign. I think it is wise to consider other placements in one's natal birth chart. Perhaps a person's personality type is important too. I am an Aries sun, Aries moon, and Virgo rising, but I am an INFJ. The 2 don't have much in common. So, I appear a lot differently than the Aries description.

In the case of a fire element Sun, such as Aries, if the Moon is in a Water element Sign - it would make the individual more sensitive, softer, quieter. If you add a Scorpio Rising - another water element Sign, the fire in this Aries is strongly diminished.

We are the most sensitive sign of the zodiac . The fire element of Aries is the exact opposite of the sensitive water element of Cancer which is why you would feel that you are more sensitive than the typical Aries. What most people forget about Astrology is that the Rising Sign (Ascendant) contributes immensely to one's personality, not just the Sun Sign. In your case, however, having a good amount of the Fire Element in your chart - such as being an Aries - "does" incline you to being generous - but on your terms. I might disagree on some points, and agree on others. I'm an Aries and I easily very easily admit my mistakes and say sorry if my mistake did hurt anybody, and I really care if what i'm saying is going to hurt you. And I'm kind of patient not in a hurry at all, my main concern is to do things properly not quickly. I'm not a yeller, and don't get upset quite easily

You don't seem to understand how Astrology works. The Rabbi gave a general description of the Signs, using some of the most extreme and weak characteristics that every Sign potentially has. Much will depend on your hour of birth and other influences. Most of Rabbi Kin's examples come from Linda Goodman' s book Sun Signs. And she was an Aries! Listen to the Introduction to Astrology lecture.
I raised and Aries child and it took me years to finally figure this one out .. The best way to handle the bossy nature is to redirect them and the best way to redirect them from impulsive decisions is to present a different ideas in the form of a question .... Example .. like do you think this would work /??? .. or what do you think about this /???
Also i had the battle of them listening to the gangster rap for years .. Then finally i asked them to do some research on propaganda and its affects and then tell me what they could find out .. Finally made some progress that way .

Taken alone, one's Astrological sign may reflect between 70% -80% of his character. Some people are very typical of their Sign because their hour of birth and other placements in their chart are of the same element as their Sun sign. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire element and would have some things in common. But if an Aries has a lot of the Water element in his chart - you would barely notice the Aries in him when you first meet him.

Could you please address Aries on the cusp. Ie: March 22 because this does not fit me at all. I have finish books all the time & Im not selfish at all. I’m overly conscientious of those around me & *always* aware of how my actions or lack of could hurt their feelings or sensitivities. I wouldn’t exaggerate to sell something if my life depended on it. This is basically NOT at all me. Could it be because I’m on the cusp of Pisces & take on more Pisces attributes?
Side note: I was raised in a highly mussar centric family & actually it was my saba raba who is considered the “spiritual father of the Mussar Movement.” Maybe that’s why?

However, the same chart is used for all of them, and the Rabbi spoke about them only briefly specifying which of the qualities on the chart would possibly apply or not apply to a particular Sign. After a good listening of the description of a particular Sign, you should be able to guess which qualities may need refinement.

Thank you very much for sharing, however, I do have to say, that it has been my experience that the Birth Chart or Natal chart of a person at the time of their birth is simply a guide to help them have insight into their life so they know what they need to work on and what challenges they will need to overcome. In other words, turn the negative aspects into positive ones. I feel that if Astrologers look through this lens, their interpretations will be more helpful and less people will think it is 'definitive', 'unchangeable' or 'set in stone'. Rather, it will allow the focus to be on 'how can I improve so I can help others' which will allow for a path of continual seeking, learning, understanding and charity. Any act done in the service of others is an act of charity, an altruistic approach to life is limited by one's own understanding. Therefore, a furtherance of one's own understanding will allow him/her to help others in even more ways than previously possible.
That's precisely Rabbi Kin's approach.

I used to believe in astrology because it really seemed to be true in some ways. But in other ways it was not true. Mainly, I kept seeing people who were born as identical twins having totally different personalities to the point where having the same exact zodiac was insignificant in their life.
Listen to the Introduction to Astrology. The Sun Sign does not fully describe one's character. You need to consider the Rising SIgn - which depends on the hour of birth as well. Then, there are other factors that contribute to molding the personality. The example of twins is addressed by Rabbi Kin. Children can have different inherent *traits* from different parents and their relatives. Moreover, each individual has a unique soul with its predispositions - to help him accomplish his unique mission. Nevertheless, if you examine closely the life of twins - you will notice how much they "do" have in common, especially in their fate.
I am a gender psychologist and relationship counselor with a focus on Torah based relationships. My comment is meant to show that after studying the zodiac and believing in it for multiple years, I have seen that it is more inaccurate than it is accurate. I believed in it because I really could see the accurate areas. It really does make sense in many ways and I'm not disputing that. But I'm saying that, after years of believing in it and even developing compatibility models between conflicting signs, I have discovered that it is more inaccurate than it is accurate, (much because of augmenting factors you already mentioned). To the point where it is no longer a useful tool in building a healthy relationship.
I will not go further into it, but I have discovered something about relationships that I do not hear much from orthodox Judaism, which is that 80% of the relationship depends on macro-expectations and behavioral patterns found in objective masculinity and subjective femininity. In short, the problem with 80% of relationship today is not a matter of zodiac, but a matter of women's liberation of 1969 and the subsequent feminism in the west that caused women to become masculine and objective minded instead of feminine and subjective. Women are less happy because they are taught to live and act like men in many areas of life. To be dominant and to conquer the world instead of being pure and creating peace and comfort in the home.

You have made some valid points, but they don't concern Astrology. Astrology among compatible Signs does not guarantee that two individuals will succeed in any relationship, Marriage or Friendship. This generation has certainly many more challenges than in the past and couples need much guidance and counseling to help them succeed.. However, these lectures were designed by Rabbi Kin to demonstrate "some" of the makeup of human character, including strengths and weaknesses as seen in Astrology. By becoming familiar with how people's character varies with their Sign - we can learn to be more tolerant of them.

As a fellow Orthodox Jew, I respect R. Kin. However, and sadly, his description, at least about me was at best what around 30% correct? I had my personality temperament tested according to the respected Myer-Briggs personality test. I'm an INFP, the idealist healer. We are all about helping others. We also love like few could imagine. No, I don't hog conversations because I very much want to hear and listen to others. I look for ways and go out of my way to help and to be considerate. Just some examples. Also what bothers me is he didn't stress generally speaking nearly enough but spoke more emphatic, matter-of-fact.

It is a well known fact that the hour of birth contributes immensely to one's personality. In Astrology the Mazal of the hour is the Ascendant. Your Birthday basically determines your Individuality and sense of mission with certain qualities that describe how you know yourself to be. The temperament is affected by other influences which I cannot describe at this time.
Rabbi Kin's description is a general description of the Sign. Not every Aries has 100% of the qualities of that Sign. Depending on the hour of birth the average individual will notice that he fits the Sign 70%. Many of the qualities that you described about yourself are actually Aries. You may have missed them in the lecture because the real life examples that Rabbi Kin sometimes uses portray the "extreme" Aries and not the more generous and gentle one - many of which exist and to which you may belong.

I think that one should take into account that it is more than just your sun sign. I think it is wise to consider other placements in one's natal birth chart. Perhaps a person's personality type is important too. I am an Aries sun, Aries moon, and Virgo rising, but I am an INFJ. The 2 don't have much in common. So, I appear a lot differently than the Aries description.
The Rising Sign is the second most important influence on one's personality. Having an earth element Rising, such as Virgo, will certainly make the fire element Aries quite different in more than one way. The Sun Sign, however, does show the "general" direction and aspirations of the individual.

I respect you rabbi from the button of my heart. But I have to strongly disagree. There are many things a Aries person will not care to explain to mankind. We are the most sensitive sign of the zodiac . The planetary influence of are sign make us seem harsh because there is a order of discipline and judgement we place on people and I believe this comes from the Kabbalistic view point “geverah” one thing I can agree with , is there are times when we don’t like to be slowed down , again these are the results of Mars . Every Aries I know to this day included myself have sacrificed their own well being for others , for our heart cannot handle to see someone hurt. There is so much I can say good and bad , because I know we rule the head and that sometimes can be bad in sense when it comes to our ego . But again the passionate heart of an Aries cannot ignore man kinda feels but we always have the aggression come to play when we feel things are not fair and people are not respecting the law etc , so in life an Aries learns to balance gevurah and chesed and then he or she will have victory over emotions.

The fire element of Aries is the exact opposite of the sensitive water element of Cancer which is why you would feel that you are more sensitive than the typical Aries. Hear the lecture on Cancer and it may resonate well with you. There are additional factors on the chart that have some influence on character like the position of the Moon; however between the Sun Sign and the Rising Sign you already have plenty.
