- ATOM | Piano Roll AUv3 is a fantastic new AUv3 midi app that has one of my more requested and favorite features in it. Midi step input. In this quick tip video I show you how it works and how easy it is to get things going.

Love the enthusiasm and appreciate the learning...
Good video Mitch U Tube acting up again, tried to watch this through the app and the picture quality was bad, and it won’t let you add comments. Bin the app it's much better quality now. Didn’t realise you could record in via step input using a midi keyboard been using my pencil and finger up to now !
Hi Mitch, was about to get the app till I read the manual on page 13. Chord are not currently supported on the step input mode. This is the Atom Piano Roll 2, but your demo I watched midi chords can be recorded. would you kindly clarify this. Thanks and more power to you.
Why under 5 minutes?
Mitch, in my iphone, I send Quincy notes (standalone) to AUM Atom1, the notes shows up in step editor, but I spent 30min, and also watched your video, I could not figure out how to save those midi files as a MIDI file? Could not find a file icon. Please help.
Hello, is it possible to send midi notes from the app to a midi enabled hardware (in my case Roland Boutique or Electribe 2s via usb). ? Not just via Bluetooth but via usb .
Yes, depending on the interface you use. I have both an iConnectAudio4+ and a Behringer UMC404HD. Both have 5 pin midi in and out ports. When hooked up to the iPad, those ports show up as options. There are also some USB to 5 pin midi devices but I cannot make any recommendations as I have not used any.
Awesome! Please do the drum demo as well! 😉👍🏻
You re the best 👌
Hey He! Nice One! 😀 👊 Step input via midi is sweet - wish we could input a rest via midi, too!
Here’s a workaround - you could use a much lower octave note, such as C-1 as your rest notes and then delete them all afterwards (tip you can hold the on-screen piano keys to select all notes in a row)
@@tkelly19321 Great idea! WOOT!! 😀 👊
Thanks for the video. This is much more useful to me than Rozeta Cells. I think I better go ahead and get it now.
Can you transpose up and down once you’ve recorded using the keyboard
Nice demo of this feature. A very tempting app.
Thanks M, I'd got totally the wrong idea about the step editor, thinking it was just some real time quantizer thing. Hmmm, that sounds really stupid now I've actually written it down... Anyway, I was happy to see you'd done a video, nicely explained as always :)
Thanks. ATOM is a great midi editor.
Can do real time step recording
Great tip! Thanks much!
Look forward to more in depth tutorials!
However now that you have recorded the notes can you transpose the sequence ...
I’ve yet to find an app tool that does the above ...
Issie wizzie the app Rozeta (or Roseta can’t remember) has an AUv3 that can do this transposition: the scaler.
Otherwise, ApeMatrix which is kind of like a different AUM has transposition options too included in their midi parameters. If you want quick and easy modulation scaler is probably what you are looking for, ape matrix is a bit more tedious about setting up transpositions.
That being said ApeMatrix is probably the best router/mixer and I’d definitely check both out since ApeMatrix is so much more than just a midi transposer.
Any song mode yet?
not yet. I would love to see multiple scenes per instance that can be triggered or the ability to arrange them in a certain order.
