- Bergara b14r vs. my CZ 457 at 50 yards . Mt CZ 457 has proven to be an excellent.22 rifle , but my Bergara b14r is simply a step above . I have owned several versions of both rifles now , and the Bergara always comes out on top . I know there are a lot of guys who are Huge fans of the CZ rimfire rifles and I totally understand that . The better test would be to find what ammo each rifle shoots best then run a string of five 5 shot groups with each gun then averaging the results and calculating standard deviations.
My cz loved sk but hates eley
And my begara loves eley but hates sk
Every barrel loves his one ammo and even between bathes ammo
I have them both and love them both with diverent ammo

Guys , the Bergara has a tuner screwed on , but that’s it . I just screwed it on and haven’t optimized it . As far as the chassis , they cost almost to the penny the same price . Thanks for all the comments .

Joe, same here, I have an ATS tuner screwed onto my new Vudoo but haven't touched its settings either because it shot so well I haven't needed to!
Redo is needed with the tuner off the Bergara - the weight of the tuner can still affect the barrel harmonics. Yeah I am whinny ass CZ fan boy...

To be fair, both guns without tuners or 2 guns with tuners.
I would like to see both setups. With and without tuners. That way better apples to apples and we all can see the advantage, or not, with addition of tuners.

Take the EC Tuner off your B14R and shoot it again. I have one of those tuners on my CZ and I shoot 1/2 MOA all day with Wolf Match Extra. Not a fair test. My Anshutz 1710 Competition shoots 1/4 MOA all day long. But that’s not a fair test either.
On a side issue, that new chassis fits you better. I’ve never seen you that relaxed while addressing your rifle until now. Try a pad under your right elbow, you may be able to relax your shoulders more.

No doubt that the B14 likes Eley ammo, but not sure if it was a “apples to apples” test. Maybe the CZ doesn’t prefer Eley, or if you had a EC tuner …who knows? Maybe a closer comparison is in order. Anyway, always enjoy the videos and glad to see your health is ok. Keep ‘em coming!
I love my B14 too as it shoots very well with SK yellow box and good with most target ammo.

End of the day I have a ca 457 w/ Bushnell match pro on it. I'm a crap shot hitting nickels, right meow! LOL. Thank you so much. I too grew up stoopid, doing stoopid things. Honestly, this video convinced me of how awesome that Oryx chassis is more than anything. The rifle doesn’t even budge with that thing, hard to pick between the B14 or 457 with this video because I’m just staring at that chassis.
Chunk a tuner on the CZ to be fair to both or remove the tuner.
Would love to see you try out an old Brno Mod5 if anyone has 1 near you.
Out of the 12 different lots of ammo I have tried I've only found 1 that doesn't do well in my grandfathers old Brno Mod5.

I have five CZ 457’s. None of them like Eley. Do the test again using Lapua/SK Ammo. I will concede that the B14 hammers that cheap Eley.
Personally perfer the B14r over the CZ. After running both for a while now, the CZ just doesn't have the balance and feel I personally prefer
My CZ tends to like Sk Std+ and Rifle Match or Lapua over Eley. Different gun I have likes Eley.
+1 on that , My CZ Pro Varmint is the same. Difference between SK and ELEY is YUGE!

I like your videos but I feel like this one was setup to have an intended result. You only used one brand of ammo and you had a barrel tuner on the Begara. I believe if you moved the barrel tuner to the CZ and did the adjustments, you could have gotten a quite different result. Also my CZ 457 shoots much better with SK or Lapua ammo, it does not like Eley at all.
He’d shoot that CZ much better in previous videos. Someone needs to go through and count all his b14 miss feeds. I have both and my 2 B-14s won’t touch my varmint 457. I’d like to see 2 different shooters. This was a damn good video, I just don’t have the same accuracy out mine.

Great shooting there Joe. The Bergara is shooting very well. Have you tried any of the Lapua ammo in your CZ? The SK Rifle match does very well in it, as well as the Lapua Center X ammo.

I own a cz455 varmint factory barrel with glass bedded walnut stock. I'll be the first to tell someone they can be quite finicky when it comes to ammo from my experience. Also needs to be cleaned often to avoid first shot flyers. This is about how mine shoots. Its tough and expensive finding something it will shoot .5 and under consistently. But ammo is just one variable... on top of the parts and work they usually need to be accurized.
Perhaps it would be better to compare CZ with it's best ammo... vs... Bergara with it's best ammo . I would be guessing CZ+SK or Lapua and Bergara + Eley? Now that I would like seeing. I shoot a CZ 455 with ECC and Walther barrel ... and for me with CCI great groups

Joe, I like the fact that the Bergara shot lights out, but you are talking the CZ is almost base/production class, and the Bergara is heavily open. Is there any other mod that you can make to the B14r? Even with neither rifle modified at all, there is already a difference if nothing other price.
I am not being critical, and I have watched numerous of your videos and will continue, but you are not comparing apples to oranges.

The only way I'll go along with that result is if you get some Lapua family ammo like center x and standard plus rifle match shoot you some groups with that because I bet CZ probably like that ammo better

I am disappointed in Eley ammo for the following reason: Three years ago I purchased 200 rounds of Eley Target to try in my Rugar MK IV. That lot was the most accurate ammunition ever used in the pistol so I put it aside for special occasions like competition with friends or to show off how well they shot through the Rugar. Recently my daughter came for a one week visit and wanted to try pistol shooting for the first time ever. After teaching her firearm safety we moved on to aiming showing her several different holds and she settled on the Push Pull Military-double thumb forward hold as it gave her the best results. After about a half an hour shooting American made ammo she was able to produce about a one inch (more or less) group at 20 yards off hand. I than took her back to 30 yards and had her shoot a 6 inch metal target with my remaining 30 rounds of Eley Target. Much to her surprise but not mine she hit the target 9 out of 10, 9 out of 10 and 10 for 10. So now that I was out of the ammunition I found an on-line retailer that had them in stock and ordered 500 rounds. On range day the disappoint set in. At only 10 yards which usually produces a ragged hole group with American ammunition the average group using this lot of Eley Target was an inch and one half. Not only that out of 80 rounds I had two low velocity rounds that hit eight inches low from the rest of the group. I contacted the retailer and replied with perhaps I should try Eley Club as it was a better grade than Eley Target. I even sent the the retailer a link to a video shot that day proving my claims that had the low velocity round and inconsistent loads in the lot. I will not be buying from that retailer again as they refuse to stand behind what they sell. In closing I have to say what the heck Eley, I expect even your budget ammunition to be better than what is available in the U.S.. What about some quality control.
CZ fan boi's are losing their minds haha. I'm going to do a video on both of my 457s to see what kind of accuracy I can get consistently for 5 groups. I'll do my best to challenge your cz groups! You're a great shooter Joe.

Joe, what is the chassis you have on the Bergara you shot in the video. Apart from the EC Tuner any other mods to the Bergara?? It certainly shoots!!
It’s an Oryx , just a Timney trigger . Not sure which one , but I remember it was their cheapest version :)
That Bergara is shooting lights freaking out. When the wind comes back it won't have a chance that Bergara will shoot right through it lol. Great shooting Joe that rifle is sharp too I like the set up, can you put a tuner on the CZ?

I have a 22 Sako Finnfire, there are number of Bergara at a gun store some way off from Toronto. I did not know Bergara are this accurate or I would surely have given them a try. But now that I have spend a neat sum on my 22, I plan to keep it,

Did the chassis make the Bergara shoot any better than the original stock. I know the tuner improves my accuracy on my stock rifle.

Joe, I've seen that CZ shoot bugholes with SK Ammo. My CZ wont shoot any Eley worth a shit either . But I think recall seeing your Bergara run lights out with SK as well. Looks like the Bergara don't really care whats in the chamber and it will shoot well . Since all my 22s prefer SK/Lapua over Eley (except for my Kidd 10/22, its a laser with Eley Benchrest semi auto... it stacks up even with Center X but $3 less per box), I'll stick with the CZ. I prefer the 60 degree action and the smoother cycling, and the less finicky magazines. But I do like the trigger choices available for the Bergara. If Brandon had not single handedly messed up my disposable income, it would be a dream to own both. So until the nightmares over, I'm living the dream through your videos. Thank you brother.

B14R has a barrel tuner on it while the 457 doesnt. Maybe do another grouping with the B14R without the barrel tuner…
Or put the tuner on the CZ and see how much it improves.

If you knew how tuners worked you’d know it would only make a difference on the one lot of ammo it was tuned for. When you switch lots or types of ammo you have to tune again it isn’t some magic that makes everything shoot better. Stop trying to sound smart online it isn’t working out.

Ok so we are comparing a bergara b14r with a Turner that comes with a match grade barrel vs a plain cz457, a better apple to apple comparision would be a bergara b14r with Turner vs a cz457 mtr with Turner.

Hey Joe, love your videos and I guess I'm scratching my head on this one. If you said you like Bergaras better because they are less ammo picky or like Eagle Eye, you like the balance better then great. A barrel tuner on one and not the other one? Lets compare midgets to midgets here please. Also, all of the ammo was from the same manufacturer, so theirs a good chance all the lube is pretty much the same. As some have already said, its about finding the right ammo and a barrel tuner certainly helps. After that it's personal preference. CZ and Bergara both make fine rifles. Cheers!

Not sure why you had the turner screwed on - but anyways - my thoughts - i hate that magazine on the Bergara - 2: it looks like you are using a short barrel on the CZ457, i use the 20 inch barrel LRP, and it shoots heaps better than that crap you just shot… i can shoot either Eley or SK and get similar groups but i would say that it shoots SK “slightly” better… but im no expert, im only a new shooter this year to bench shooting although im ex military some 20 years ago

Well, not apples to apples. First, the B14R has a match chamber and your CZ is not the MTR version. Second, your B14R has an EC Tuner on it, the CZ doesn’t.
It’s not a match chamber and the tuner was just screwed on and not tuned
@@CyclopsJoeVideos read the specs on the B14R, I did before buying mine, it has, indeed a match chamber.
Why would you shoot for group size with a tuner that is NOT tuned? No one does that. It can actualy mess your groups!
Gotta agree with a lot of the commenters - make it more fair by taking the tuner off the B14r and use whatever ammo each rifle likes the best. All this shows is a comparison between a B14r given all the advantages and a CZ shooting ammo it appears not to like. I really like my B14r and it seems to out shoot my T1x by a hair at 50 yards but the difference here between the CZ and B14r sure seems like it's due, at least in part, to the ammo and tuner.🤔

Got a mate shooting a stock Bergara has taken some time to settle in more the shooter then rifle I think but has the edge over my Cz seems to be a very stable platform.

I’m shootings a Bergara BMR with a Boyd’s AT-ONE Stock and a CZ 455 Varmint, both are excellent shooting rifles. Just love 22lr rifles and learning what ammo works best for each gun.

Put the barrel tuner on theCZ and see how it shoots. Not really a fair test with the barrel tuner on one rifle and not the other.

Does the b14 have 2 lugs that its headspacing on ? The cz i think just have a bolt handle for lock up i think .

Don't forget you need to keep it oiled up, I always use what I call "shower lube"

i have been tossing up between the lithgow 101 or the begara, the berg costs more and have seen some issues with it mainly extractor but it has me leaning towards it, but still cant make mind up, im in oz so lithgow beats out the beat of the standard brand names but seeing the berg i just dont know.
