I just found your channel a few days ago, and WOW AM I GLAD I DID! these videos are so easy to understand and follow. thank you for taking your time to show how to work these apps.
Thank you! thank you! thank you!!! I made up a design for a wood round sign and couldn't figure out why the font wasn't being accepted when uploading design to cricut! I am new to Inkscape, have only been using for not even a month. You saved me from having to do a second design in cricut!
How are your document properties set up for the sizing of your file? What is your scale? When I save my file in inkscape I have inches selected and I normally try to save around 4x5 but when I open in cricut they size is 200x250. Do you have any tips on this?
I have followed your step by step but once i upload unto the design space the image doesn't upload into the canvas. It shows the yellow triangle message that the image is too big. How can solve this issue. I tried saving as inkscape svg, plain svg and also compressed inkscape but still no success.
Which machine are you using? I have the expression and I am trying to connect it to the design space and it is not compatible. I am trying to figure out which program works with this machine.
Followed your directions to a T and I get an error every time: my simple design is too large, even though it is clearly well under max page size in Inkscape. What is wrong?
Helping my wife save as an inkscape cricut svg is not an option in the drop down. Is it a plug-in for Inkscape or do I need cricut design space on my cpu to save as that file type?
I'm trying to make a sticker cut file, but it's only taking the 1st row of shapes. It is at least keeping the alignment and everything just as I had it, but it's ignoring the fact that the other rows even exist. They're all grouped and I can't find any other videos that get closer to addressing this topic. Do you have any idea why it might be doing that? I painstakingly placed each shape in a specific spot and want to make the file something that anyone can just upload into their design space and use, so I do need the file to be made perfectly in Inkscape.
Are the grouped paths actually stored on Inkscape "layers"? It looked like they were just individual paths that were grouped on a single layer. By "layer," were you referring to the fact that the paths were arranged in a stack?
Yes, by "layer" I was just referring to an indivitual path. This video was mainly for Cricut users and referring to the "layer" was easier for them to understand since Cricut doesn't use actual layers like most design software.
Hi, I just found your videos and channel today, and I like your work. Thank you very much for all you do. I have a question though.. I made a text in Inkscape, and follow all the steps you showed in the video, but still appears in cricut design space that note < The uploaded SVG contained the following items that are not supported: text elements> but the file appears in preview mode and seems to be ok. So, what am I missing? I just can't tell.
Not really. Design Space doesn't have a true offset feature. You can duplicate the object and make it a little larger but it won't be a perfect outline.
Hi, in case you haven't found the solution yet, when exporting make sure you check mark "Export Selected Only" on the bottom right side of your screen.
I did an offset design, when i send to DS only the main word comes through NOT the names inside...what is wrong. The last step I did on ink space was group.
I am saving the files just as instructed but am still unable to upload into design space. It is becoming super frustrating. Is there something else I need to do to make this work for me? PLEASE HELP :(

Thanks for the nice clear tutorial. I just bought a Maker and this was my first question!
You are welcome!
So glad I came across your video, very helpful! Thank you :)
Thank you! I had problems with the text and this video was the ticket!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this help!!!!! This helped me so much! :)
I'm so glad!
Thank you for this video!

Thank you for the video. do you know how to import from ink to DS and keep the size? My files keep importing in bigger than what I need them to be.
I'm doing exactly what you said to do but I'm getting a blank canvas an a error message everytime I try to upload it into cds.....WHY???😔
Hello, were you able to resolve this elsewhere? I'm having the same issues and can't find help. Thank you!
Me too

Thank you very helpful!!! Can you create a video to show how you made the shadow and the offset?
I have this video but it's not using Inkscape...

It needs to be saved as "Inkscape SVG". That will import into Cricut Design Space.

i found one tutorial a while back that says after you make it a path you have to hit union do you?
OMG...this video was SO HELPFUL! I was trying to Export it, and it wouldn't work--all I had to do was Save it---(face palm!)
Glad it helped!

That happens to me sometimes too. They still cut just the same though. You shouldn't have any issues with cutting it.
Hi! Thank you for this video!! Is it possible to do the shadows in desing space?
Not really. Design Space doesn't have a true offset feature. You can duplicate the object and make it a little larger but it won't be a perfect outline.
I want to transfer an inkscape furniture pattern. Can I use this Sam method?
Do you know why I would get a black box in ds when I upload the Inkscape svg file?

I did an offset design, when i send to DS only the main word comes through NOT the names inside...what is wrong. The last step I did on ink space was group.
Did you turn the name into a path and unite it before moving on to the next steps? This may be why it's not saving in the SVG.
I am saving the files just as instructed but am still unable to upload into design space. It is becoming super frustrating. Is there something else I need to do to make this work for me? PLEASE HELP :(
Same says text error still
I am having trouble bringing pattern fill svg's into cricut. Is there a way to do this?
The pattern will have to be converted to a path to convert to Design Space.
@@CrystalsCrafties Thank you so much. I will try this. I do have a gradient also, would that cause a problem?

What if file says microsoft edge ?
That's fine too. It just depends on your computer operating system.
That doesn’t work
