That dealership is shady. For Acura to totally turn their back on a customer is mind boggling. Make 20 videos about this!!! People need to know about these shady businesses!
💯
For real dude that's some wild activity
@@RaceCarFriends sadly we really are not the manufacturers customers (with few exceptions), The dealerships are. We are the dealerships customers. That why we have to choose carefully whi we do business with.
@@tuliosantos5962 Very true I agree.
Acura as a company won’t handle issues that wasn’t from them specifically (for the rim incident) now if the motor had an issue, and it was under warranty, you’d still go through the dealership, and they’d go through the proper procedures from Acura. Unless you directly buy from Acura, the dealerships are the middle man. And when money is the name of the game, you can always bet that dealerships will do what’s in their best interest to stay winning.
I hope these videos reach out to people interested in buying a car; and shows them the dealership not to buy them from. There are plenty of times that customers get the s*** end of the stick.
The energy from that phone call tells a whole lot about that car company pure evil people
EXACTLY! I was floored man. And I was cool with that guy
Salesman have no souls i know because i work at a dealer
That guy was excruciatingly punchable!!
Fuck that guy. That was unreal.
For him to call is an "Assault" was mind blowing to witness. Definitely a racist tactic to make the black man look like the aggressor even though Q was the one done wrong.
Bruh the way they tried to gaslight you saying you assaulted them lmao. This is CRAZY
Insane bro
A $200 wheel could have kept you as a customer but now that dealer has a 3.4 rating.
To be fair, I believe the dealership already had a 3.8 star Google rating or so before we started leaving our reviews, so it only went down .4 stars. Even so, 3.8 is honestly not that good for a dealership anyway, all the Acura dealerships near me are at least 4.3 stars.
3.4 out of what?

The fact that the dealership workers accused you of being rude and ignorant, without watching the video, is crazy. I'm sorry you went through this Que, but for what it's worth we're all learning how useless some of these dealerships (and even Acura/Honda corporate) can be. You deserve better!
🙏🏾we live and we learn
@@QueTheChaotic I'm sure they figured out to finally watch the video and thus that fake account that you saw...
Damn RIGHT and they HAVE to be held accountable
That engine does NOT have a dry sump. That's a lie. Im a tech, and the oil should of been topped off.
I'm still blowed that service manager straight up accused you of damaging your own wheel and trying to blame it on them. He could have been a lot nicer and handled it a better way from the start. He could have investigated it first if he had doubts. They have video cameras as well. Then they give you the car back low on oil. I would never do business with that dealer ever again. Search around and find a reputable mechanic to do your maintenance.
His intentions were to not do those things from the start. A lot of these guys that are working together talk about what they're doing. Service Advisors, Mechanics, Service Manager, Dealership manager are sometimes all in it together, I experience a similar situation, six months later, I'm almost done.
Are you? Honda did the same thing to my new fk8. 2k miles needed a tire and they took a chunk out of the wheel. The manager said I did it before I got there
@dl9775 😮😮😮 daammnnn I would be sooo pissed off.
You "blowed that service manage?" You might want to keep that yourself
@@dl9775Typical Honda/Acura, I'm not surprised. When will people learn
Two things you said in this video really stood out to me:
1. Matching that a-hole’s energy wouldn’t have solved anything
2. You feel bad for others who don’t have a platform like you who go through the same thing
You’re a good man.
I appreciate you
Lol, this dealership completely played themselves. Now they have a whole PR mess they have to deal with, well deserved. Incompetent, messy dealership.
They replaced the head and did valve adj but couldn't change your oil? LOL..
They completely messed everything up.
Dealers like this simply don’t care about any negative PR with UA-camrs/enthusiasts. The bulk of their business are folks who will never hear about this. We are not the norm.
@@SonikDethmonkeyDealerships definitely care about online reviews. Not owning up to a simple mistake that would have cost the dealership a couple hundred bucks TOPS tanked their ratings. So unnecessary.
@@Ben-bg2eg from my experience the ratings that are most important to dealers are the official post-sale ratings. The importance of service ratings via Yelp, etc. vary DRASTICALLY depending on the dealer. Especially if they are in a good location it really doesn’t matter.
Since so many of the negative reviews are just referencing this car, they may not care because a customer who cares about the rating can see the negativity is all basically one person. Also, if the dealer really cared, I bet they could get Google to remove most of those negative ratings that are obviously duplicates. If he had over 100K subscribers and the pile-up was 10x what it is, then things might change.
I used to sell cars and the video of the service director infuriated me so I left a review on the dealers website. Made me realize having a good dealership nearby is. Thanks for posting this and sharing this with us all.
Que_The_Chaotic is the most chill person I've ever seen. The Acura reaction was ridiculous.
When the dealership said “that’s how they come” I almost cried from laughter! That is most definitely not how they come
Seriously wtf!
Blatantly lying to your customer? That's how those stealerships come!
I got information from another dealership service manager that some Integras DO actually come like that.
Some do
That's why I bought a Lexus LC500 instead!

Some basic rules.... 1. Treat the customer like gold 2. If you don't like your job, find another. 3. Always find common ground. It really sucks you went thru this, as a proud Honda owner since the 90's, this is embarrassing. Love the content Que. keep it coming... Peace from Jersey PS. Maybe the dog listed at the dealership should run the place.
🙌🏾 lol they would be much better if the dog ran things lol
I've helped many friends and family find vehicles and Acura dealerships have been my least favorite so far. Just a couple of weeks ago my mom bought a CPO 22 MDX from Bob Howard Acura in Oklahoma. They tried to charge her a certification fee of $2.1k, told her the price was non-negotiable, and that they wouldn't take it off. It took me posting the invoice in an Acura group to get it taken care of. Someone in the comments actually called the dealership themselves to get rid of that fee for my mom. The support i got from that group was amazing. It's a shame dealership pull crap like this.
Damn…this was way worse than I was expecting. Sorry you had to go through that.
BMW of Portland, OR did something similar to me. They were taking my 335i for a oil change, went back to pick it up and someone had bumped my car from behind and up front. Front bumper had holes behind the liscense plate holder(I had the front plate holder attached to the right side for a cleaner look), rear bumper had dents that looked like another cars liscense plate went into it. My problem was I didn't have proof that it was them who did it and they didn't think they did it so they wouldn't help me. I never went back and wrote a nasty comment on Google review for BMW of Portland. They offered me a free oil change but I couldn't even trust them anymore.
Whenever you open up an Engine, you always need to change the oil and filter to flush out contaminants like excess silicon. Actually you should change it Twice!
Agreed. As a customer definitely change the oil twice after work like this is done for your own peace of mind.
Needs more person like you to call out those bad dealerships experience of bad services.
The fact that he said "that's exactly the way they come" is very embarrassing. How can you work there for that long, get that far and treat something like this like a grain of salt?
This acura dealership has put a bad reputation for themselves. For $50k vehicle with uneven bumper. I don’t believe it. Acura put integrity on their name. There’s no way Acura’s name would jeopardize their reputation. But thank you “que” for sharing this informative information.
The problem is these dealerships think we (the customers) are here to serve them. The opposite is true, and until they figure that out, their reputations and credibility will continue to suffer.
Man I love cars HATE DEALERSHIPS! We should push for direct to consumer sales. That way you can deal directly with the manufacturer about problems. Keep pushing in the positive direction.
I ended up having the same type of issue with my Aspec Tech that I bought. The dealership chipped my rear quarter panel and placed all the blame on me and then Acura corporate told me the same thing about them being separate entities and that they couldn’t help me. I left a bad review on the dealership and then corporate called me and told me I was no longer allowed at that dealership even for any of my warranty oil changes or anything. Ends up that car was a lemon from factory and had a broken steering rack and had the sticky steering and I ended up having to purchase a whole different car.
They could get into some serious legal issues for denying warranty for simply leaving a bad review. First I've ever heard of them being this shallow. Worst/simplest reason I heard they denied warranty was over wearing jeans in an Acura voided the warranty over anything having to do with the seats.
A few years ago I had my Accord at the dealer for work, and the service manager came to me, shaking his head, “Sir, we are so, so sorry, but our ordinarily great mechanic managed to damage the wiring when he was trying to replace your taillight bulb. So, listen, we have it spliced together for now, but we have a replacement part ordered - as soon as it comes in, we’ll call you.” No arguments, no fuss… just owning a mistake, and that’s why I was a loyal customer for nearly two decades.
So sorry to hear you went through this mess with Acura of Troy. They had so many opportunities to make this right for you, and they completely failed each and every time. You did an amazing job keeping your cool through all of this.
The Acura dealer where I bought my TLX is pretty good, but you probably don’t want to drive down to central New Jersey for an oil change. 😂
That's great service. Lol I would make the drive to avoid this type of treatment
I don't believe that comment is from actual customer. It has to be another fake, but from corporate this time. I personally know many Honda Techs, and they would never admit to something like a wiring damage that can easily and quickly be patched up and sent on its way.
@copperkeyracing6167 lol. If I’m a corporate account, why haven’t I gotten any of that sweet cash money? 🤣
Are you kidding me? That guy you were on the phone with needs to be followed home after work and have a nice surprise waiting for him!
Fr, dude sounded drunk and unprofessional. Hope they like slashed tires.
Sorry that you went through that. I got rid of my Acura ilx last summer! I wanted that Acura RDX but Acura was playing in my face with the numbers and my trade in value: Ended up getting a Lexus instead. They allowed 55,000 to walk out their dealership. That’s their loss. I took my pre-approval to Lexus and bought me a Lexus. Acura has gone down hill anyway. Sell it and buy something else. Especially if they don’t value you as a customer.
Yup that's how I feel. #Isupportthismessage
That's only one acura dealership, the one I know has excellent service, kind people, and they will get you the car for what you want to pay on it.

Thanks for the update! Crazy times man. These cars are too expensive to be treated this way. I have three Hondas in my driveway and have had a similar issue before, but they took pictures and scheduled a fix right away. No argument or blame game.
Looking forward to more content!
I’m Srry you went through all this man,I been following you since you had your zl1 blue Camaro and you are a honest man with integrity ,I can’t believe a car dealer can’t take full responsibility for the damage they did,Hopefully they get it right.
I appreciate you
They deleted my link to this video from the dealership facebook. Lol.
Wow!
That’s absurd
What's crazy about the bumper too is you literally just loosen 4 top fasteners after popping the hood - they are right on top glaring at you, then adjust the sides by sliding from top to bottom to snap them in place, then re-tighten the 4 fasteners. Extremely quick & easy for a COMPETENT dealer mechanic.
Bro, you were nothing but professional and respectful throughout this, WILD SHIT MAN
As an Acura Technician, I'd like to share a little insight. Couple things to address.
1) Some Dealerships document damages before service of working on the vehicle. Your Integra Type s seemed to be damaged at the dealership you took it to and you could articulate proof. They should do something to make it right.
2) The Engine "Tear-down" Most end work does not require the oil to be drained which makes sense that your vehicle did not have the oil changed as your vehicle fell into this category of repair. All fluid levels should have been topped up as a result of any service. Depending on the dealer they will look at the maintenance minder on their own and contact you to ask if they see there is a service minder soon (in your case 20%) or now. Usually asking if you would like to do it while you are there.
3) YOUR ENGINE IS NOT A DRY SUMP DESIGN. Your engine is a wet sump. For this reason the manager is incorrect. He is doing damage control. At Symbol 0 only oil is changed, At Symbol A, Oil and filter is changed. "Id personally replace the filter (or request for) the filter to be changed at Symbol 0 as well.
4) A Car dealership isn't a body shop, and after a bumper comes off (if it did in your case) it is hard to ailing it 100%. How much effort they put in to ailing it is up to the technician usually.
I am sorry that this has happened you and I hope all these issues get fixed. Some people may say don't trust these people on the internet. To that I say, I have no benefit saying this stuff and its your choice to trust me or not.
Thanks for sharing
I’m sorry you had to deal with that man. Good thing you documented everything so that the world can see not to go to that dealership. Looks like you did everything right and that dealership will feel adverse effects of their actions. Trash a** dealership

Thanks a lot! I need to join that group. I appreciate those who posted it!
Yeah you definitely should join.. There are several other UA-camrs in the group
Highly recommend that you contact your state's attorney general - just google your state and attorney general for contact info. You have everything documented by video, and the interaction with the dealership. Your situation has my blood boiling!
Out of curiosity how will the state attorney assist in these types of situations?
That’s it, make government bigger than it already is. Bring it to another Acura Center and see what they will do.
All you have to say is “Acura of Troy F’ed my car up and I’m hoping you’re a better place to bring my Acura”
Then simply tell them what they told you. How cars come from the factory that way (which isn’t true?)
Believe me, Michigan Acura dealers are for some reason, not good.

@@andrewc8566Dealerships DO NOT WANT someone elses bad apple. If he tells an Acura dealer another Acura dealership treated him badly, they will IMMEDIATELY be on the defensive and may IMMEDIATELY tell him to go away. Now that his video/story is famous, I would stay away from all Acura/Hondas as his best recourse. A lawyer would also advise him the same. It's also for his safety. Acura dealers are known to go after people for crossing them. If they aren't stocking him yet, he needs to consider himself lucky. He has entered a war with Acura/Honda for exposing them. Be cautious, and be safe out there.
Wowsers, that bumper gap and running clearcoat on the bottom is crazy that it passed through QC at the Marysville plant!
There's a reason the top end Lexus cars are still made in Japan.
This story made first page on Carscoops, you are now famous, man !

Thank you for keeping your cool whilst at the dealership initially. I really appreciate how you handled everything
I can't believe that dude on the phone was just straight laughing in your face and saying you assaulted them! That's wild. At least the Chevy GM was half way decent. But yea bro like someone else commented I would just sell it. You can probably sell for what you paid for it anyway lol

Yeah, he was an idiot. And that laugh??? What was he laughing at?
As someone that used to work at the Honda plant building these acuras you’re totally in the right about everything. Those cars definitely SHOULD NOT COME like that lmfao that bad of a body panel line up shouldnt leave quality check. You’re totally in the right with everything you’ve complained about and Acura dealer treating you like that is crazy
I got that same feeling. I had a similar experience with a Honda Dealership. Find a very good trusted mechanic that others are using that have a passion. Forget these dealers when it comes to servicing your vehicle.
A couple things... the dealership damaged your rim, prob on that little curb just outside the door. Since they would send it out to be repaired and you don't want that and just have it done yourself, they should pay u $100 toward the repair since it would save them the trouble. A few yrs ago in my city, it cost $150 each to fix curb rash. On the low oil, one guy said the level would read low if the car was recently driven, and Jack Black said the level would be low if the engine is cold! Both of these are completely false. It only takes a minute for 99% of the oil to find its way back down to the pan. People pass down these crazy theories from their grandpas from 80 yrs ago and they still believe them. Hope you get that rim fixed, and hope your engine is perfect again.
Went into an Acura dealership last week and asked for a MDX, when they showed me their inventory they all were missing front bumpers and a windshield. Was told they come in factory like that, strange new approach from Acura i guess. 🤷♂️
That’s wild
That manager was a D. I cannot imagine buying a new car and getting that kind of service from the dealership. I was thinking about buying one of these - which is how I found your video - and now I’m questioning even looking at an Acura. I hope they get this handled for you man.
Glad the GM got it straight…er. The video shows “both sides” - you being completely reasonable, and them accusing you of lying - ridiculous. If the GM wants to repair the PR damage HiS underlings did, they should do more. I agree I don’t think I’d ever go back, and I’m positive I wouldn’t buy anything else from them. Good for you for putting out the truth on this - with video evidence. You handled this great - kudos!
Thank you
Mannnn that’s crazy you had to go thru all this just to get minor stuff done to a vehicle that suppose to be their flagship car! That’s sad. I felt that statement “what are you on the phone for?!” NOTHING get solved with corporate and still that Fixed Director at that Acura sucks.
Funny that you are dealing with that. I had a similar issue with my 2022 Ridgeline. There were 4 rust spots on the rear drivers side door. I took it to the dealership since it was under warranty and the service manager told me that it was my fault. I told her that the rust was coming through the paint. She again said that I caused the rust spots by scratching the vehicle myself and denied the repair. I then took it to another Honda dealership and they excepted the problem and fixed it under warranty. This was just last month.
I’ve had many Honda vehicles and this was the worst experience I’ve had dealing with Honda.
That's the same thing that happened to me. Corporate generated a claim number but said i needed to talk to the General Manager. The General Manager stated i needed to talk to the Service manager. After they played hide and seek, i decided to tell them i WILL be notifying BBB, the Attorney Generals office and the DMV. After they understood i wasn't going to go away, they refunded the majority of the exorbitant fee. Dealerships have to do better.
Sorry you had to go through that, i despise working with dealerships in fear of meeting people like them.
You are a better man than me cause i would've lost it on them the second they tried blaming me.
I left a 1 star review for you in hopes that others see the reviews before deciding to work with that dealership.
When that dope on the phone said "assault," I HOPE he was alluding to the barrage of richly deserved negative dealership reviews. The way Acura of Troy's "Fixed Operations Director" (whatever the hell that means...) treated you was like an SNL-caliber parody of a bad service manager.
Great video brother I feel like you handled everything maturely and professionally which is more than I can say for everyone at that dealership except the GM I guess, but yeah you did the right thing I wouldn't let anyone at the dealership touch your car again, and hopefully you'll have much better experiences dealing with other dealerships in the future.

I got my inspection done at my Acura dealership a few days ago and noticed they take photos of every car they service prior to the work. The fact that your dealership doesn't do that type of stuff is yet another red flag imo. I should also mention that the service people at my Acura dealership were actually really nice and I didn't receive my car with an additional 8 miles on the clock. I made sure to take a photo of my odometer before handing over the keys after seeing your previous video.
What a horrible experience you had to go through and terrible dealership Customer Service. Kudos to you for following up and doing all you can do. I also had a horrible experience with Kuni BMW in Portland Oregon with my new at the time 22 BMW M240i that I brought in for a 4500 mile oil change. Long story short I went to pick it up and the technician disconnects my front and rear dash cam as the wires were just hanging there unplugged and evidently forgot to cover his tracks and plug them back in. Not only that the car had 6 miles extra on the odometer. The worse part is after seeing the hanging wires disconnected from the dash cam the car Smelled like burnt rubber like it just left the race track. I was furious and also went through what you did with similar results. There is many details but I will leave it at that .

Well done, young man. I especially like the fact that you went to corporate Acura. I had a problem with my Acura TSX and I went to Honda of America. After watching each of the videos, I commend you for remaining calm throughout this entire process. It was clear that the Service Director didn't respect you as a customer. I certainly would have been a bit more aggressive in my communication with them. Sometimes, you have to let them know you will take legal action if you're not satisfied and also collect evidence (like you did). That bumper gap is ridiculous. The mile differential from when you checked in and left is ridiculous. The oil level and lack of oil change after a top end rebuild is ridiculous. You've handled this situation in an excellent manner. I have so many similar stories with Detroit dealerships its not even funny.
Safe to say I’ll never go back. They did send me a check for the damaged wheel so we’re ok now.
You did everything right. It's sad the we have shady dealerships in the U.S. i work for a Dodge dealership in NY as a service advisor and if my techs did this we would 1000% fix it or replace the wheel. I drive a 24 type r and if my type r was given to me like that I would of left it there until the GM spoke to me before catching a charge for beating up someone. Good luck with situation I hope they fix it.
Hi Que, great video and channel, first off! I'm an older guy, and own a TEP ITS. No problems thus far, but have not done first service yet, and have an illuminated I-mark and OEM carbon fiber spoiler to have installed when that first service comes up. I had a similar incident to yours happen, but with a Subaru. When I was younger (first car), I neglected to check my oil on my (don't laugh) Mitsubishi Tredia, and had a ton of issues during a service. I had the feeling that the service writer was giving me a run around, so from that point on, I always checked my oil, especially before taking a car in for servicing. About 30 years later I took my 2000 Legacy GT wagon in for an oil change, and after checking the oil, took the car to Renick Cadillac/Subaru (no longer in business). About 40 minutes into the service, the service writer paged me and told me that I had a hole in my oilpan, and that I would need a new oilpan, and that it was a miracle I had no other problems, as I had no oil in the car. I told him I checked the oil before leaving to the dealership, and that it was perfect. He then told me I "must have hit a rock or road debris on the drive over." He took me back to the service bay, and the tech showed me the hole, which was suspiciously next to a bolt that he removed. The pan was also protected by a plastic skid plate, and it seemed more likely that the tech's use of an impact wrench was the actual culprit. We went back and forth, and in the end, I ponied up an extra 400 bucks for the oilpan. I also spoke to the manager of the place, and told them that not only have I taken all of my Subies here for years, but I have recommended the place to others. I asked them, since both scenarios (rock vs wrench) both seemed unlikely to both parties, if they'd meet me halfway. They said no, and while being lighter in the wallet, I never went back to Renick, and dissed them to others (my dad went elsewhere to buy his new Cadillac). Sorry for your troubles, man, and love your content!
That was unfortunate. Best we can do is not give them our dollars. Thanks for sharing
Ah, there is no way I'm changing my review until there is proof the service department is taking special care of customer's vehicles, especially when they don't have a large platform to help. This was unacceptable behavior and that guy should just be fired or at the very least, demoted.
I love that part “Did you not watch the video? I was AT the dealership!”
I’ve talked to, emailed, texted, sent letters and pictures, 4X6 prints of the crap they’ve sold and not done, major repairs that weren’t even offered and should have been, to places like Firestone, Kwik Kar, Valvoline, Caliber Car Care. All politely like you are, get nothing. But, do the right thing. It’s always the right time to do the right thing.
Came from the 1st installment in this series of misfortune. Almost had to stop watching it was so unbelievable. So happy you got some sort of resolution. Big ups from illinois!
🙏🏾
Whoever was on the phone with you and straight up blamed you for assault then admitted to not seeing the video needs to be fired. Please share his name so it can be added to my review of Acura of Troy. What's crazy is that they had so many chances to make it right... Been following you since your s2k review video and was pleasantly surprised to see you get an ND dude! On my 3rd Miata and they are without a doubt the most affordable and fun driving enthusiast car that will teach you how to improve your driving and cornering skills each time you get behind the wheel!
His name is Carson. Nice! I wanted to buy his S2000 but I was able to trade in my Corolla for a good amount
Thanks for making the distinction between the bad and the good. And thanks for keeping it positive. That's what the car culture is about, coming together for someone and positivity over negative. Good job, go enjoy the 'teggy!
Good on you for standing your ground against the dealership director! That guy was just pathetic. Acura should have stepped up and done everything to address all of the issues you brought up.
People can suck so bad bro. 🙏🏾 for em and keep pushing ! 💪🏾
Damn! I could see the misalignment with Tesla but not w Acura. That’s cold af. I hope your whip is well taken cared of going forward.
Just sold my ITS. Really enjoyed driving it through twisty roads but felt lacking in amenities, comfort and AWD for the rest of my driving. Depreciation is hitting hard too and I see no sign of it slowing down. Glad I got out for a good number.
I will say though my local dealer was fantastic for the couple things I brought it in for. Really happy with both the service and sales operations. Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time brother.
did you pay a mark up?
@@adventsociety5382 $850 ish in mandatory accessories that they force on all new Acuras in my region. No markup tho
Depreciation?? lol Type S and Type R’s don’t depreciate.
@@mtvideos8 search Autotrader nationally :) $42k and $45k floors for FL5 and DE5, no accidents, 5k ish miles
Thanks for posting your follow up video. Sorry you had to deal with this.
I’ve had tons of positive Acura dealer experiences with 7 different cars over the years. I’m so shocked that the dealer was this bad.
Hopefully the engine is fine. Thankfully it’s under warranty.
BTW. We are PWP twin cars. I just put my copper wheels in for the summer too. 👍🏼. Look good
Nice!
My wife just had a problem with her 2019 Acura RDX.. Brakes failed while driving car was towed to the Acura dealership where it needs a electronic brake booster assembly. Cars just out of warranty corporate Acura will not pay to have it fixed. Corporate Acura was super unprofessional. Tried to say Carfax showed no service history. I’ve been a mechanic for 40 years. I did all the service myself, including brake fluid flush with Acura brake fluid at 30 K. At first they were told it was 3000 hours to have it fixed negotiated down to 2450.00 Car has been in the shop for 2 1/2 weeks.
That absolutely horrible I’m sorry this happened to you,
Wow didn’t know dealerships like this even existed 😮
Bro. I had the same front left bumper happen, ACURA corporate passed me around for weeks and then said I had to go to the dealership since they’re individually owned, they also declined and said it’s normal to have it be not lined up properly 😂Horrible customer service. I’m sorry bruh I feel you smh
This makes no sense. They need to do better.
Also, if you had an oil leak and there is no mention on the service tickets of topping it off, then they did not do so. I suspect they captured the oil and put it back in vs. replacing which any competent service person would do. Their cost for oil is negligible and Acura would be footing that bill since the service was covered. These folks are overall incompetent.
Long-term Acura owner here: I also own a Lexus. Lexus stands behind their product and their dealers treat you well. For me Acura has dropped the ball more than once and the dealer experience isn't in the same galaxy as Lexus.
You the man, Que. This dealership is shady and unethical. If you're ever in Southern California, I'd love to buy you a beer!
Much appreciated!
Thanks for going through this so we will not have to.
Shame on you Acura!
Sorry to hear about what you’ve gone through Man but in the future I found that interior/exterior/and fender mounted cameras will keep everyone honest…in case of damage that is questioned. It’s cheap insurance for a few hundred bucks and every car should have them nowadays. Beats dealing with the lying and after the fact headaches…just my two cents.
Here's some tips to help protect you with damage & some technical.
1. Always take pictures of your vehicle before you hand it over to any service center and take pictures after. Then do a walk around if there's any issues you have before and after
2. The dip stick has 2 dots. Lower is minimum and upper is maximum. As long as its above the lower mark and under upper mark the oil level is at factory spec. Typically it is 1 qt to get from lower dot to upper dot.
3. There was no engine rebuild based on your receipt in a prior video. It was engine work. Acura will only pay for oil when oil is drained if it is required as part of the repair. It is not always required.
4. Maintenance minder and free services with it being at 15% is true. It does need to be at 15% for the manufacture to pay for the service when it is due.
5. The K20 is a wet sump system not a dry stump, you do need to be on a flat surface when checking. Plus if it was recently started you do have to wait some time before checking to get an accurate reading.
Good info
I had a very similar experience when it comes to a Honda dealership & Honda corporate when I had my FL5 type R… ended up selling the car afterwards
These miserable experiences dealing with Honda made me not want to have the car anymore. I’m not surprised others are having similar experiences
I'm shocked at how horribly you were treated by the Acura dealership in Troy. I never had such experiences in the 2000s, when I had an 1.6 EL up here in Canada. I'm glad that you followed up with Acura corporate, but again, that they would respond in the way they did was also shameful.
Would it help to report them to the BBB? I don't even know you or live in MI, but I do drive a TL. And my local Acura dealership would NEVER treat me the way Acura of Troy treated you. I feel you bro! Keep your head up.
Thanks for documenting this, it will probably help someone in the future even if it's just avoiding the dealership or brand. I had to open a case with American Honda corporate many years ago, and they were worse than useless. Totally stonewalled me. I could tell they were trained to block and deflect at every step of the way. Complete lack of emotion and caring. I really lost my faith in Honda/Acura after that experience. Subaru corporate, on the other hand, bent over backwards to take care of an issue we had one time. Complete opposite of Honda.
I was on the fence between an Acura and Lexus. Through family circumstances I ended up with a Lexus thank goodness. Thanks for letting me know not to trust Acura.
Stay tuned. I’m gonna do a comparison between the 2 next week
Brother, I have dealt with this kind of thing with Ford. Nothing is more frustrating.
I got a scratch on my side of my door, Kia dealer didn't do anything. They made it seemed that I was lying. They were, do you have photos. I said no, but your sales man took a video. The service mandatory said I did, yes remember I said my windshield had a small crack. Then he remembered. Then he said that the video wouldn't show the scratches. Corporate didn't do crap. Lesson is to take photos each time and have them take photos too. All i wanted was a buff on door to minimize the scratch. There is no proof but had just washed it the night before, and would have noticed. I'm very particular about my car look.
thanks hold'em accountable this industry needs it. Hard to find honest people these days.
Incredible. That dealership is garbage. You deserve better and you could not have been nicer about the whole thing. I’ve also been treated poorly at dealerships, like many others and it stinks. A quality service advisor is worth their weight in gold and is a huge factor in customer loyalty.
That top piece can fit perfect. You gotta know how to place them on properly or they dont fit right. I work at an acura body shop.
As a guy who works in a collision center that bumper was definitely misaligned… yeah it clips into the retainer that’s attached to the fender but it still has to be adjusted. A lot of times the bumpers that come in don’t all fit exactly the same and to compensate for that we adjust the fenders. Whoever reinstalled the bumper was just lazy and/or overlooked it
Yea acura dealerships are shady i took my TL sh-awd to acura for a recall for burning oil they was suppose to replace my pistons and a whole bunch of other stuff they gave me a receipt of everything they replaced but in reality they didn't replace anything and engine end up blowing up
I feel for you on this. In an unrelated matter I have voiced my concerns to Acura corporate about their dealerships and received no comment. The no comment tells me all I need to know. They don't care. Honda is a great company that makes good products but their dealerships need help. Previously their dealerships were equal to Lexus but now they are no where close.
That's horrible service from this dealership. They definitely need to learn something from the service provided by Japanese auto companies.
Car guys….reputation is well deserved. You remained calm, cool! You have documentation, best thing. Keep it up!
Glad things worked out. Thanks for putting these dealers on notice.
It is also recommended to invest in a dash cam as well. Almost all cars have them in Japan and Korea.
I have one just sitting in my house too
8:10 they claimed you assaulted them. An assualt is an arrestable offense. Acura dealers play dirty. You are lucky you didn't get arrested for the "assault." You are treading on some very dangerous waters when you take your new car in for service at an Acura dealer. Be warned. You bend over and take it, or you get arrested. Acura/Honda is the worse company to deal with.
Had a similar experience with the Lexus dealership close to me. Make sure to take pictures (with time stamp and geotag) of your vehicle before you hand off the keys. Never thought I would have to do something like that every time I drop off my vehicle for service, but these dealerships refuse to take responsibility for any of their mistakes.
