Ok. This the second time you've saved me HUNDREDS, maybe thousands of dollars, when both repairs are combined. It's people like you that make UA-cam great.
Thanks for watching guys. If things go well, you can probably do this job in about 45 minutes. Thanks for watching and if you're not subscribed MASH THAT BUTTON!!!
Hi sir! at the beginning of the video you mentioned that you will show how to diagnose the fan module, but since the small fan was obviously damaged you skipped that part. how can I diagnose the fan module? Do you have another link or video or set of instructions to diagnose the fan module? Please share. Great video By the way!!! Thanks!
Thanks. I have a 2009 volkswagen jetta 2.0t wolfsburg edition. My small fan doesn't work the large fan works but will not shut off unless I unhook my battery. Don't know if I should just replace the whole fan shroud?
Hey Charles I have a 2014 vw Jetta 1.8t and any time I turn on the a/c the fans speed up and cause a loud vibration and I'm trying to find out what it could be I checked both fans they both work and turn by hand smooth any ideas?
great video I'm the UK and have Touran with the 2.0 FSI engine that the fans have stopped working they work wit he a/c on but not when the engine gets hot would it bet he module in the large fan?
Thanks for the video. My Mk5 TDI 2.0 radiator and fans were replaced by a crash repairer but the air con didn't work. I took it to an air con place, they regassed it, and that made it work while the car was moving, but with the fans not working, it didn't cool while idling at a stop. I looked up the engine bay fuse box diagram, and sure enough, the 10A fuse SB8 for coolant fan had failed (probably due to the fans jamming up in the collision). I replaced it and it's all working as it should.
So the sb38 and sb34 are behind the instrument cluster? Meaning I have to pull the gauges out to check them? The thing is, my cooling fans worked just before I swapped out the engine. Now, they don't kick on. I highly doubt they're blown and I think it's a fuse problem. I think this because my radio stopped working, so I pulled that out and sure enough the 10A fuse was blown. Can you help me out with this one?
I have a 2006 Jetta TDi. Is my process going to be the same as shown in the video? Also, when running the output test using VCDS the fans were very very noisy. I don’t have any codes should I replace as a preventative measure?
I was just testing out my new TOPDON Artidiag 600S diagnostic code reader on my Skoda Octavia VRS and it came up with fault on fan saying obstruction whilst running health check.I checked the small fan that moves freely but the larger fan stops like its catching on something.
Hi i got a mk5 gti see the fuse box in engine is there a fuse for the fan an coolant engine blower is the only fuse for the coolant fand in the engine bay
Great Video! I have a 2009 jetta tdi 2.0L and the small fan works but the big fan works too but keeps running after i shut my car off for over 1hr killing my battery. Any solutions?
So you have a video for replacing a radiator on a 2008 vw rabbit or where I can find one. Do I have to remove the bumper or can I remove it from the bottom like the fans. Please get back to me I have a leak on my radiator
I have an 08 GTI that I can't get the fans to work. Fuses are good and I have replaced the fans as well as the coolant temp sensor but they still won't work. Any suggestions on what I should check/do next?
Anyone know if this is the same procedure for the 2005 Golf Gti MK IV GTi 1.8t? I keep seeing videos with Golfs with single fans and mine has dual fans, also anyone know where the fan switch is located and if it's in the same location as the single fan switch videos i see and last how to test those fans and switch or switches? Also as you mentioned your smaller fan has resistance which appears bad, but neither of my fans have any resistance and yet neither of my fans come on...which leads me to my fan switch maybe bad? Thanks great videos !
I have a question. The large cooling fan on my mk6 won’t shut off. I hit a little bit of water last night on my drive home and now it doesn’t switch off unless I disconnect the battery. Thoughts?

What did you do with that broken screw? Were you able to remove it without taking everything apart?
I had to remove the fan shroud not so long ago on my Mk6....and that exact same screw snapped off in the radiator. Luckily i was able to slowly work out the remains of the screw with a pair of screw pliers. Mine wasn't even as rusted, it just went - must get some metal fatigue from movement of the assembly.
If this module is bad will it cause no power to as c pressure switch and compressor not to come on... the fans never turn on under any condition...I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere online
Hi I realised that the new fans you fitted have their blades the opposite direction and the small fan has less blades I'm assuming the new fans rotate the other way, anticlockwise? saying so because the blades are facing the other way, So if I replace only the small fan I guess I would be have 2 fans spinning opposite directions?
Having a similar issue, my AC doesn't cool when idling. I noticed the smaller fan doesn't come on when I turn on the AC to the coolest setting. Since the small cooling fan isn't seized like the one in the video. What's the most affordable way of checking the smaller fan? Is there a video on how to use VCDS to test it?(after checking the fuses of course)
I have a mk5 gti 2009, I have been keeping up with the book for maintenance and changing the oil every 5k miles. Although I have 130k miles on it, I received a free dsg transmission from the dealer as the original went out at 97k miles. I’m just wanting to know what would be some good preventative maintenance to do with my car. (Also if anyone knows what would be an suspension setup for handling, the car currently has stock suspension with 235mm tires on it. Thank you, replies appreciated :)
Bapo Rapo far as i know they have problem with cam followers Change oil every 8000 kilometers Dsg fluid every 40 000 kilometers Brake fluid every 2 year ATE SL6
Good video... I had to replace the large fan on my MK5 jetta last summer. The process is exactly the same, except on mine, the bottom radiator hose is attached to the fan support with a clamp, just had to undo the clamp and pull the hose back and bit and it came out smoothly and back in smoothly.
Hi, thanks for sharing. Just replaced the AC control valve in my 2006 Jetta, charged up the freon; Nothing, same crap, just blows ambient air. AC fan NOT kicking on w/ the AC switch on dash, but it Does Spin Freely by hand, nice & quiet, just doesn't come on when u push the AC button on. Do I need to bypass the high pressure switch? Had to on a friend's car to get it to start working, but that was a Corolla. How do I bypass the high pressure switch? Inspected connector at high press switch, looks fine, clean & such. It has 3 pins, so to bypass, which ones do I connect w/ a paperclip or wire? Any idea/s much appreciated. - thanks, take care
My Radiator is loose and the fans are hitting the engine I have a piece of wood between the battery box and radiator that is hold it in temporarily, do these 4 t-30 torx hold the radiator in or just the fan shrowd? Thanks in advance :)
Hey man how’s it going ? I was wondering I have a 2009 mk5 Jetta with the TSI engine. I notice that only one fan works and the other doesn’t. It hasn’t been an issue so far no light no weird driving or anything like that. Is it safe to be driving like that ? Again only one fan is working
Hi Charles, seen lots of your videos in the past. found this one looking for a DIY fan replacement. I have a feeling that the screws will break when I do this job on my rabbit. Would you know which screws i need to replace them? It looks like there are 2 types available.
Hey dude, i have a clean gti mk5 and i have no problems, but for some reason my fans come on and off every 5 minutes, but i have no leaks etc.. any ideas why they come on
Please help? I own a Scirocco 2.0 TDi. I was wondering, should the cooling fans both come on every time that the Air Conditioning is activated? I don't think that the air temperature coming through the AC is getting cold enough, it is cool but not cold temperature. Thanks
There's a loud noise in the fan area when I turn the ac on but not sure if it's the fan making the noise .. what do you think? It's on a 2006 vw beetle 2.5L
I'm having an issue on my 2008 R32 that might be involving the fans. The large fan spins but I can't tell if the small one does, a/c works fine but large fan has got loud before, never seemed alarming. Car got hot yesterday morning when idling with a/c blasting for about 20 minutes, went up to around 220°F, went back down to normal when I started moving. It did have an engine code for P0480 and a DTC for the smaller fan (V177) having "restricted movement." I drove it again 2 times afterwards and had no issues, all fuses are fine and both fans move freely. Codes/DTCs cleared and did not reappear yet. Could this be a pending module failure? I live in Texas heat so I always drive with a/c on in 100°+ weather lol
Im replacing the fan assembly in my 2006 jetta. The four torx screws holding the fan are rusted I got them out but I dont want to risk using them again. Do you know where I could order some replacements.
HumbleMechanic then when you go to unbolt the radiator from the intercooler you break the t30 mounting bolts on there and need a new intercooler... then when removing the intercooler you damage the AC cooler pipes.. LOL
Bump old video, But trying to make the call on fans, I’ve confirmed I have a bad small fan but I also see that even if I put a headlight globe in place of the small fan the module stops grounding it, Like a bad module? But is my test invalid? Is the fan module smarter than I think, I did the same test on a b8 Passat and it continued to power the headlight globe In place of fan
Big fan of your videos they have helped me out of a couple tight spots. I had a mk5 jetta GLI 2.0t FSI, currently have a 2012 Beetle 2.5l, x2 2013 VW Jetta 2.0l TDI: 1 a sedan and 1 a sportwagen.
Can the fans be taken out from the top if you remove the plastic cover? I need to do this on a rabbit. Same thing but the large fan fins are also broken.
My small fan is broken and I opened and saw the carbon brushs are worn out. After replaced both fans the smaller fan always spin even the ac is off. Any suggestion to check?
Thank you for this, I was gonna buy whole new fans but I tried with the fuses, for some reason the fuse box inside the car there was no orange 40amp fuse for the fans, I put some in there and now my large fan is spinning
I have a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T and the cooling fan on the right has a lot of vibration. I've check and it moves fine, just has a sever vibration. Any ideas?
"If things go well" LOL well whoops I have Mk 6 GTI, yes everything applies here but woe unto you who have deeper Intercooler like my Unitronic-- you will have to disconnect the silicone hose at bottom of metal intake runner (the one with temp sensor on it) and unbolt the support to same metal pipe but not remove the pipe-- then you can just barely get the fan assembly down and out like in the video. My large fan was working so I only did the small one with an OEM fan; this is too much work to risk doing again if a dodgy aftermarket fan fails. THANKS for the awesome video!!
Big fan of this video. I have a 2016 jetta sport 1.8. After heavy rains and driving my car through a huge puddle, my cooling fan started to make a noise. I opened up the hood and notice that the big fan was not coming on and the little fan was working at high speed making the noise whenever it came on. The shop wants to charge me around $800 to fix the problem. I know how to work on cars and do all of my own car repairs once I know what the issue is. Is there any knowledge you can share?
i have been searching everywhere for a video just like this THANK YOU!! what would you recommend doing if the small fan is constantly on? even when the key and engine is off.? i have been on this problem for days!
My question I have what it looks like a sensor disconected and i cant seem to know where it goes.. is connected with the wiring that connects to the ratiador has a connector that inside is purple with two prompts, thats goes connected to the sensor.
Hey man, the video is really good DIY,straight to the point. i have a mark5 GTI aswell, and lately my fans will not turn on at ALL,i checked the two fuses near the battery(that are screwed to place) they are ok,but i dont know what else to check, i took off shroud, and supplied 12V,both fans turn on great,no mechanical friction,i dont know how to test the module, all i know they will not turn on neither by AC or engine coolant heat up,and NEITHER via command by Diagnose/tester. any ideas?
Mine was the ground for the coolant connector is came loose. Why you didn’t elaborate on the way to test the fuse terminals in the engine bay that part had me lost
Hey man I have a fan problem on my MK5 gti! My cooling fans don't run when the car reaches operating temperature. But they do run when the A/C is cranked to max... I'm gonna assume the module in the big fan isnt working properly?
also i had fans replace both like u did on my audi a3 but now the big fan has mechanical Resistance to it and it wont spin and after spending so much money to replace them i might just add a fan myself that turns on by a switch in the cabin
Hey! I’ve got a 2010 Jetta 2.5 that has the cooling fans constantly on. The engine will be cold and off with ignition off and it still is running and high speed and will run until it drains the battery dead! Any ideas?? Thank you!!
@HumbleMechanic hey , love the videos , really informative and helpful. I’m looking for a bit more advise tho, I’ve mk5 gti and the large fan comes on once the engine is cold and does this in 10/15 second bursts and will continually do this draining the battery. Do you think this is the control module? I’ve had is checked VCDS and there no fault registered!
Hey man, Great video, loved it. I have a MK4. Fans dont work, tried making a direct connection from temperature sensor switch, which had 12V shown on main line. Still fans didnt work. Do you think issue can be with fan control module? I hear a loud tik sound when i try to directly connect the fan connections from the control module. Thoughts?
My fans spin but they are loud and I’m getting the code : Radiator Fan 2 (V177) P1951 - 002 - Movement Restricted / Jammed --- Coolant Fan Control Circuit 1 P0480 - 004 - Electrical Malfunction any suggestions
Hey Charles, just wondering is it possible to swap the radiator with this same technique instead of taking off the front end? Thanks and hop you see this 😁
i changed both rad fans and the coolant temperature sensor, both fans come on and run normal when i turn the ac on but neither fan will come on when i have ac off, even after its at operating temperature. any ideas?
Question …. If both fans are different brands will they still both work if connected to each other people in vw forums said they don’t is that true. I need to replace my fans
@HumbleMechanic what coolant temp sensor is for the fans? I read there’s two. My coolant fans only turn on if I have the AC on. I thought my fans were shot but there not my car is an 08 gti
Thanks for the video, as always is great to watch and learn... I have some issues with my MK5, the fans work great with the AC engaged but if the AC is not engaged the vehicle sometimes takes longer to have them on, as a matter of a fact the fans go on until the temperature of the engine out is around 118 C ... and the duty cycle is around 87 % it is they turn on when is kind of an emergency, otherwise the fans never or mostly never turn on around 95 C (which I think is the right temperature to have them on)... this is an erratic behavior. I have checked the values of the engine out and rad out and the sensors seems to be sensing properly the temperature... you guys have any idea of what os going on? Thanks in advance!!!
Im having the exact same issue. What did you do to solve it? My gti is doing this aswell. The fans will work fine with the A/C but will not come on at 90°. They only come on when its like an emergency. So what was the issue and how did you fix it?
I wonder why OEM cooling fans seem to have unevenly spaced blades at two points. The fan blades on my Mazda have the same odd spacing. Maybe it has to do with acoustics.
Yeah good video, i had to do my big cooling fan about a month ago on my Scirocco R as the fan would not stop running even with the key out of the ignition, it was the fans modual that was faulty, did it myself and all is good now. Keep up with the awesome videos.
On this video you mentioned the small fan it’s not working. In my case it seems like the big fan it’s not working. I got a PO480 code ( I think ). When I arrive at home I open the hood and noticed both fan were about to stop. I turn the car back on then only the small fan started to work. When I try to spin the big fan, it started to work. Then turn the engine off and on again and again just the small fan was working. I waited I little longer to see if the big fan will start spinning but nothing, until I gave it a little push then started spinning. I’m assuming the fuses are fine and in this case there’s something wrong with the big fan. Am I wrong?
Thanks buddy! Do you have a video about acceleration problems? My car revs up by itself all the way to 10 (1000) rpm a few minutes after I crank it up while it’s in idle or when I’m stuck in traffic.
Hey charles. Im having this issue .The fans will work fine with the A/C engaged but will not come on, on their own. They only come on when i use the A/C. And because they dont come on, the car slightly goes over optimal temperature when stuck in traffic.I've scanned it a bunch of times but not getting any fault codes relating to this. The fans only come on when its like an emergency and temperature reaches to about 110 °C.. But before this issue arose they would come at at 89° or at 90° which is the duty cycle i think. Both fans spin nice and freely when i spin them with my hand. Any idea what the issue might be and how do i fix it.? Thank in Advance
This has been a great source to understand how these two pals work on our VW. However, I’d like to seek your advice. I got my two fans replaced a few weeks back in a repair shop and I realized that there was some kind of noise coming from the front grill while at idle. After I stopped the car’s engine and checked what was probably going on. I feel the main fan is loose and that could be the reason why it’s not working properly or not working at all. I can’t really tell as the small one is doing all the job and there’s no overheating or anything like that. The blades seem to move back and forth while tapping with the finger. I’ll take the car back to the shop, but is there anything that you think I can do on my own?
my small fan quit working with engine warmed up and AC going. i pulled the fans out from the top and popped in the new fan minimal problem. just remove air intake/snorkel tube. use a mini ratchet with any needed attachments to get out the 4 screws. holding the fan assembly in place to get in the screws by myself was tricky but possible.
Charles, have you come across radiator fans, usually the main one, which seem to turn fine by hand but won't work? I've had a situation with my previous A3 Sportback that the fans weren't kicking in when they should. Dropped the fan shroud, opened the cover on the motor and found that the motor was clogged with dust from the brushes and brushes were also stuck. There was still material left on the brushes so I just cleaned them up and made sure they were moving freely. Put it back together (can't remember how I managed to get that cover back on the motor) and it worked ever since until I traded it for my mk2 TT 3.2 a few years later. Of course cleaning up the dust isn't something that I would do for a customer car unless the customer understands that it might not be a long-term repair or it might not even work at all after it so I might end up replacing the fan(s) anyway..
Ok. This the second time you've saved me HUNDREDS, maybe thousands of dollars, when both repairs are combined. It's people like you that make UA-cam great.
Awesome!!!!! Do me a favor and share the channel.
@@HumbleMechanic you got it!
I know you might not read this but this saved me a ton of time, a ton of money, and a huge headache. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart
I'm a big fan of this video.
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching guys. If things go well, you can probably do this job in about 45 minutes. Thanks for watching and if you're not subscribed MASH THAT BUTTON!!!
If the screws don't round off!
True! I actually had to replace the radiator because I couldn't get the bolt out. LOL
would the small fan failing tigger a cooling system performance code
Where do you live
Can thermostat effect the fans coming on and off?
And here’s the video I need. Thanks to Humble for always having me covered!
Thanks bearded Volkswagen God! You've saved me a lot of money, plus a bunch of Vaseline at my local dealership!

Great video Charles, your "DIY" content is perfect. Keep up the good work bud
Thank you so much!!!
@HumbleMechanic is it possible to remove the radiator from the bottom as well? Same way you did the cooling fans?
Appreciate the easy to follow video. Replaced my fans the other day and happy it fixed my issue. Thank you!

Same issue here, did you figure it out?
Hi, for mk 5 jettas, on the 4 wire connecter to the fan unit, is it normal for power to be present on the bigger power wire when the key is off
great video I'm the UK and have Touran with the 2.0 FSI engine that the fans have stopped working they work wit he a/c on but not when the engine gets hot would it bet he module in the large fan?
If you don't have a probe, can you still do the fuses test with a multimeter?
I have a mk6, similar problem are the fans the same? My smaller aux fan wont turn off and i suspect bad fan control module

Ha diagnosis!! My fan is about to fall out lol. Your video is great though, love how you get into detail and save us time on research.
Cool! ha Say, do VW fans come with brushless motors?
I was just testing out my new TOPDON Artidiag 600S diagnostic code reader on my Skoda Octavia VRS and it came up with fault on fan saying obstruction whilst running health check.I checked the small fan that moves freely but the larger fan stops like its catching on something.

No. I actually had to replace the radiator. I will cover that in a radiator video

if the fan control module is bad will it cause the ac compressor to cut off?
if the fans are super loud - one can assume the power to the fans is good, and the fans need replacing right?
If this module is bad will it cause no power to as c pressure switch and compressor not to come on... the fans never turn on under any condition...I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere online

Car got hot yesterday morning when idling with a/c blasting for about 20 minutes, went up to around 220°F, went back down to normal when I started moving. It did have an engine code for P0480 and a DTC for the smaller fan (V177) having "restricted movement."
I drove it again 2 times afterwards and had no issues, all fuses are fine and both fans move freely.
FcpEuro will be able to get the exact ones.
@@HumbleMechanic thank you
Hey Charles my 11 Jetta tdi fans quit working. Does the MK5 GTI share the same big fan parts wise?
That I’m not 100% sure.
How did you get the broken t30 screw out that was left. Really annoying the heads snap off below the surface!!! HELP
Usually I’ve been able to get them out with pliers. This one was stuck. Sadly car got a new radiator
HumbleMechanic then when you go to unbolt the radiator from the intercooler you break the t30 mounting bolts on there and need a new intercooler... then when removing the intercooler you damage the AC cooler pipes.. LOL
Does this fan module control the a/c compressor to kick on?
Thank you for the tutorial. Was really easy except for lining up the screw holes in the dark alone for me. But I got it.
Bump old video,
But trying to make the call on fans,
I’ve confirmed I have a bad small fan but I also see that even if I put a headlight globe in place of the small fan the module stops grounding it,
Like a bad module?
But is my test invalid? Is the fan module smarter than I think,
I did the same test on a b8 Passat and it continued to power the headlight globe In place of fan
Big fan of your videos they have helped me out of a couple tight spots. I had a mk5 jetta GLI 2.0t FSI, currently have a 2012 Beetle 2.5l, x2 2013 VW Jetta 2.0l TDI: 1 a sedan and 1 a sportwagen.
is this basically the same for the MK6?
I think so!
Probably a bad main fan. It has the module /controller in it
My question I have what it looks like a sensor disconected and i cant seem to know where it goes.. is connected with the wiring that connects to the ratiador has a connector that inside is purple with two prompts, thats goes connected to the sensor.
Hey man, the video is really good DIY,straight to the point. i have a mark5 GTI aswell, and lately my fans will not turn on at ALL,i checked the two fuses near the battery(that are screwed to place) they are ok,but i dont know what else to check, i took off shroud, and supplied 12V,both fans turn on great,no mechanical friction,i dont know how to test the module, all i know they will not turn on neither by AC or engine coolant heat up,and NEITHER via command by Diagnose/tester. any ideas?
whats that tool youre using to test the fuses
Mine was the ground for the coolant connector is came loose.
Why you didn’t elaborate on the way to test the fuse terminals in the engine bay that part had me lost
Hey man I have a fan problem on my MK5 gti! My cooling fans don't run when the car reaches operating temperature. But they do run when the A/C is cranked to max... I'm gonna assume the module in the big fan isnt working properly?
Hi Charles! I have an issue my radiator fans doesn't come on until i turn the ac on, despite being very hot, what could be the problem?
This video was super helpful to me, but now the fricking new fan it won't stop running. What should i do next?
also i had fans replace both like u did on my audi a3 but now the big fan has mechanical Resistance to it and it wont spin and after spending so much money to replace them i might just add a fan myself that turns on by a switch in the cabin
Hey! I’ve got a 2010 Jetta 2.5 that has the cooling fans constantly on. The engine will be cold and off with ignition off and it still is running and high speed and will run until it drains the battery dead! Any ideas?? Thank you!!
Possible fan issue. I’ve also seen failings ECMs do this too
Hi, my MK6 GTI Golf has a P1950 error and the fans run for about 5 minutes when I switch off my car. Do I need to replace the fans?
@HumbleMechanic hey , love the videos , really informative and helpful. I’m looking for a bit more advise tho, I’ve mk5 gti and the large fan comes on once the engine is cold and does this in 10/15 second bursts and will continually do this draining the battery. Do you think this is the control module? I’ve had is checked VCDS and there no fault registered!
Anyone know the part number for those little metal clips that hold the fan wiring in the channel of the shroud?
I doubt that’s available separate. But I’ll see if I can find out. I would either get one from the junk yard, or use a zip tie
@@HumbleMechanic Thank you for taking a look for me.
I need help finding the fan wires on my 1999 2.0 jetta
@humblemechanic can you stand behind these parts? or the brand? I've had china parts before in my VW and for some reason they don't work well.
Same. They seem great. But I didn’t do long term testing.
But I don’t really have to stand behind them. FCP has lifetime warranty on parts. :)
Hey man,
Great video, loved it.
I have a MK4.
Fans dont work, tried making a direct connection from temperature sensor switch, which had 12V shown on main line. Still fans didnt work. Do you think issue can be with fan control module?
I hear a loud tik sound when i try to directly connect the fan connections from the control module.
Thoughts?
Hey Charles, how much does it cost to replace the timing belt on a 09 mk5 gti ? Thanks in advance
Thanks and hop you see this 😁
i changed both rad fans and the coolant temperature sensor, both fans come on and run normal when i turn the ac on but neither fan will come on when i have ac off, even after its at operating temperature. any ideas?
do both fans have to run simultaneously?
on this setup they both run at the same times.
Question …. If both fans are different brands will they still both work if connected to each other people in vw forums said they don’t is that true. I need to replace my fans
they should, but I can see a place where that may not have happened. its never happen to me
@HumbleMechanic what coolant temp sensor is for the fans? I read there’s two. My coolant fans only turn on if I have the AC on. I thought my fans were shot but there not my car is an 08 gti
Hey! I have a problem with my fan not turning off Volkswagen CC 2.0t 🤦🏽♂️
I got a p2004 code on my 07 gti dsg and then my fans stopped coming on entirely. Any correlation?
Maybe a module failing. Not dead but going dead
Keep up with the awesome videos.
i had the sane issue on my audi a3 fans came on automatically faulty control module too
On this video you mentioned the small fan it’s not working. Am I wrong?
Sounds like an internal failure of the big fan!
Nice videos Charles,
Do you have any similar videos on replacing the fans on an mk4 gti vr6?
Not on the vr6. But depending on which on, it may be very similar
my small fan quit working with engine warmed up and AC going. i pulled the fans out from the top and popped in the new fan minimal problem. just remove air intake/snorkel tube. use a mini ratchet with any needed attachments to get out the 4 screws. holding the fan assembly in place to get in the screws by myself was tricky but possible.
