My grandmother's peony just bloomed this year for the first time in years. It had gotten rather neglected, but I've been working on it. This particularly pink peony came with her family in 1868 from North Carolina, so a peony can be a multi-generational investment. My great-grandmother's bloom beautifully every year and they are well over 100 years old now.❤

I have bamboo in my garden and it's well behaved. It's old, has formed a lovey clump, and is wonderful for staking plants and creating teepees and temporary trellis in the garden. I haven't purchased a garden stake for twenty years because my home grown bamboo ones do such a good job.

Oh, the crocuses were beautiful!! I've done that with daffodils and paper whites all over my front yard. It's always wonderful to see them start peeking their heads out of the ground after a long, cold winter!!

The bulbs are very nice! They are very expensive in the USA! I purchased a large gladiola bulb for $22.00 for the one bulb!

Those crocuses look lovely! They will probably spread out and thicken into a vivid bank of bright spring stars for the coming years, too. What happened to all the peonies? Will we see them in a later video?

Lovely! I lived where I had a HOA ...Home Owners Association and my grass started growing early and I got fined for not mowing which would have cut down all my flowers before they bloomed! I was in the state of Georgia in southeastern US. NEVER an HOA again!!!

They look wonderful! It's a dream of mind to have a yard of spring blooms like these. Not sure I will ever be able to afford to own my own olace though so for now I watch videos, and enjoy walking by local homes that have early spring flowers.
We have a town in Michigan called Holland. Lots of Dutch traditions and they have a big tulip festival in the spring
By the way, did you know that birdsong opens the flowers? 😊 The Shwoos are adorable roaming around and the field of flowers are beautiful with the mixture of those colors!
If the stigma of the blue/purple crocus are crimson, they are collected as saffron. I wish I could garden again!

I plant bulbs every year as we have critters who eat them. Love tulips and hyacinth, only get 1 or 2 of the crocus they r tasty. Glad your's came up. They are beautiful!

I have also had bulbs from Farmer Gracy and they have been a great success, tulips and different types of daffodil.

It’s so exciting to see the first fruits of labor, isn’t it? If you plant roses, ground ivy, nettle 🫣😬 dandelion, burdock, onions and garlic, you have an arsenal of medicinals that can be harvested for free! The roses are the only ones that might need care. Also, it would be fun to see you start a pumpkin patch! They are excellent for dietary supplements for cats and birds (and humans, of course). If you get around to a pond, algae (spirulina) is also a superfood. 😊❤

You can harvest your own saffron now! (That will be considerably more work than the planting...)
Alex' electric augering made me grin. We usually just use a sharpened stick with a cross handle.
Considering how well they proliferate you probably could have planted them more sparsely. But that way you had a nice display in the first season already.

Have a look for the different sorts of Hamamelis. Chinese, Japanese and so on, they blossom in winter. Hamamelis virginiana is a medical plant too.
