Metro would be perfect instead of trains. As a more heavy rail option, considering the versatility of the stations aswell as they look more like the surfliner aesthetically.
i agree! i know he mentioned he was taking inspiration from oceanside, i’ve visited and they have some small european style s bahn trains called the sprinter which would fit perfectly and be quicker than a tram! egg could also pair the metro with a heavy rail commuter line for longer distance travel similar to the surfliner
The comment at the beginning also mentioned San Clemente, CA. As someone who lived there for about a decade, I have to say that the area seen at 41:00 resembles it quite a lot. Put a train right along the coast (and I mean *right along* as in it is in danger of being washed away due to rising sea levels) and change the existing road to a freeway and it’s just about perfect. Lots of steep grades, but that’s realistic. It’s got a commercial strip roughly paralleling the coast, another at a right angle down to the pier, houses going up the slope to the peak, and some industry hidden on the other side.
Road Builder once again coming in strong! Definitely agree with others that metro would be a great shout and something I’ve not seen used as much in CS2
Love it! The cozy beach town is coming alive. This map has been so much fun to build on with all the new mods. I made a huge Balboa inspired marina, but we need BOATS!! Hopefully soon..
I love the tram system and all the roads. I think I'm as crazy about infrastructure as you are! Love the colorful buildings too. If you get to the states with oceans, you see colorful houses for sure! Cali and Florida and of course, any state with a shoreline! Great job!! Great detailing🤩
Cracking expansion there Egg! Recolor for the win and, if you do go for that highway + rail _RB_ network I suggest you try out a gravel section or two between the road and rail (and add rail shoulders too unless you want no catenaries)
Great build as always! But i think you should put more greenery in the backyards of the houses pretty much everywere. A few trees and bushes there would make a huge difference.
Going to get tough as cities grow, yet assets stocks don't. But really like some of your configurations and the little spaces that creates. Loving playing CS2 now, and really enjoying this series.
Great build as always! Thanks for making my morning! I would say that the city wouldn't be enthused to have the trans driving into the giant oaks lining the roadway. Might want to put in a taller or thinner tree. That would lead to quite a bit of damage to the cars. 😂
Check out all the beaches in the greater LA area. Most have row housing neighborhoods that sits right on the beach. Manhattan Beach and Downtown Huntington Beach are the coolest I think. Both have very cool Main Streets. Love the videos you’re awesome!!
Loved this build. Just on colors, I would use the highway to delineate. Beach side is all yellow, blue white (quite light bright colors) and mountain side is forrest theme green, tan, maroon, earthy (quite dark colors). Thats the just an basic recommendation. I'm also super keen for something build on top of those mountains. Australia has a bunch of mountain retreats.
It would be nice to see the tram road to also be a pedestrian utility with shops, at least near the new city center or the train station. You can use the road builder mod to create something cool, maybe only in one of the sides and have a separation in between to make it safe for peds...
As for the train on the side of the road is feasible, I have seen tracks run right down the middle of a highway/ interstate that was semi close to towns. I have also see trains go through the middle of the town. I live right next door to The South shore rail, it all electric. This runs from Chicago to South Bend, and it is used as a commuter train.
I love seeing the full parking lots, even if its "generally" antithetical to proper city planning. Cannot wait to seee the scurrying ants at the tram/train hub. Could potentially lead to view into the marina. Loving the series.
I used to live in Oceanside, CA...and it's so beautiful there. I truly do miss it, but not the traffic. The traffic was HORRIFIC on I 5 at times. The sandy beaches were so beautiful and I lived only 2 blocks from the beach.
With tree controller you can replace the trees on medians and change their age as you please, so instead of planting another tree on top of an already existing one you can just paint replace it, though I don't know rn if you can change the rotation too bc afaik the tree rotation isn't exactly random on medians
The train station transport hub should have some signature buildings and high density commercials (if they look good).....it would look soo good from the waterfront ❤
Triton is a great new neighborhood. The only two suggestions I'd make is replacing the chain fence in the condo for something fancier and modifying the tram road next to the train station to make the sidewalk wider. It's gets incredibly narrow when a tram is passing or stoping between the track and the station step
ΙΜΗΟ you should extend the tram system replacing the existing bus service to the beach with light rail to town. It is not necessary to run it on the bach front but it could be routed through the main road the buses now use to reverse back on their way to the beach front. By doing so, you give residents and visitors a fast and reliable mean of transport so the money spent for building a light rail are justified. It could as well function as a cost effective tram-train type, eliminating the need for train infrastrcture but having the benefits of a fast and capable rail service.
Hi Egg, thanks for another great video. I was wondering if it would be worth giving each condo area it's own district and applying the 'gated community' policy as it might mean only residents use the car parking. The same might work for schools or anywhere else with it's own assigned car park?
Wow, what a relief that you can finally build some thing that you’ve been able to build for years in the first game, in this one, almost a full year after it came out. What a fantastic product lol
Great natural integration of rail transport into community! I'm slightly concerned that the massive super-block of flats will be very dark and depressing to live in - no windows in most of the rooms due to butting up the buildings back-to-back.
I lived in a place kind of like that right after college, and it was in fact pretty depressing. It looked nice, but I only had windows along the front wall. It was very efficient for temperature control, though.
How do you put the grass and trees in the median? I've created a custom roadway with Roadbuilder but I can't figure out how to put them in the centre median 🤔
I've plopped a lot of mixed use, what little commercial demand economy 2.0 demands is eaten up quickly by those empty lots. Although we did have some in this episode with that low density on the main street. Egginburgh suffers the same problem
Colossal Order would be out of business if it weren't for the amazing modders that have had to step in and fix their game for them. Seriously, that road builder mod is a game changer!
It’s kind of sad to see how much people are embracing this game now after the initial pushback because they have truly barely done anything to fix the game whatsoever and it’s been almost an entire calendar year. Personally, I don’t see why this game is being played at all , everything that he did in this video could have been done in a more familiar and easy way in modded cities 1. Every single thing. I know that for content creators, they are almost sort of forced into adopting the second game moving forward, but I hope that the average players are still holding strong and not giving our money to a worse version of a game that we all bought 10 years ago

I hadn't even considered metro, strong call
100%metro

@@OVERCHARGEDEGG The normal train station even has the Metro upgrade.
Considering the distance I think metro would be suitable. Tram only works in downtown and inside the town imo.
Gotta love a Saggy Node! 😂
😂
Saggy node- Sounds like something an older gentleman sees his doctors for😂😂
Yeah m8 I know that feeling

The addition of these mods seems to really make this version of the game so much more pleasing. Can hear it in your voice. 😊
14:51 what a satisfying and beautiful view of the buildings and the tram network💥💥💥
Cracking expansion there Egg! Recolor for the win and, if you do go for that highway + rail _RB_ network I suggest you try out a gravel section or two between the road and rail (and add rail shoulders too unless you want no catenaries)
Remember to turn on random rotation when you use line tools. Is quite awful to see a line of identical trees oriented the same way...
Do not, under any circumstances, get between an Egg and his tram 🤣@3:58 Love it!
I like the tram...it fits the seaside build. very relaxing watch :)
Awesome build Egg getting bigger
Thanks for weekend video. Love this series! Eggcited for this island! 🎉

You probably could have used the road builder to build your transport interchange. Likely would have allowed for reversible trams too

Beautiful detailing. Thank you... 👏

love to see some tram action! yes please!
I've been waiting impatiently for you to post a new video of Koh Khai, which I think is a very beautiful town that needs to evolve.

Also, I kinda like the homeless on the soccer field. Adds some realism
Setting up in the goal is a brave choice though, surely a match will happen at some point. Maybe its the off season

Yes egg
I do enjoy trams.
There is one issue...the 4-lane tram road you placed, people can't get to the other side of it.
Wow, what a relief that you can finally build some thing that you’ve been able to build for years in the first game, in this one, almost a full year after it came out.

for the train station why not the small one, and for the costum railway highway, why not in the middle with some shoulders?
Can you do the road builder platform trick with metro?
Great natural integration of rail transport into community!

How do you put the grass and trees in the median? I've created a custom roadway with Roadbuilder but I can't figure out how to put them in the centre median 🤔
I think it has to be 5m wide. You can also apply it with the regular road upgrade tools
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Thanks, I did wonder if my medians were maybe not wkide enough 👍
So much parking and still too less.

Why don't you have commercial demand in any of your builds? Maybe take a look at taxes?
