1980 Cyclones finished 6-5. Started 5-0, lost their next 5, won their finale. Also, CW’s walking Cyclone logo for the cap is from the late 70’s Earle Bruce era. Thx for the podcast, Gents!
Question? Is it possible some of the LB injuries are possibly to get another LB under the helmet with the headset to coach them up and help them learn?
Jack Trice Stadium looked fantastic in white out. I was very impressed. Rocco got it going faster, which is going to become more important as the season progresses. Morgantown is always a tough environment, but I'm not thinking of it as a trap game. Everyone knows WVU is capable of upsetting superior teams at home. As for Abu, his production is down for a reason: Every team targets him first on the run. That's allowing the coaches to develop multiple new talents. Late in the season the Cyclones are going to have enough weapons to have someone for every situation.
Big wins against lowly Houston and Baylor were great, but the real test starts now, we don't want a repeat of 1980 (that 5-0 start included only 1 game against conference teams, KSU). At the start of the season ISU was an underdog to WVU, UCF, Kansas, Utah and KSU. Now ISU is favored to win out. I hope this holds.
Sat Sukup adjacent and I was discouraged by what I was hearing from that crowd in the first quarter. A few people cursing out the offense and one even calling out Coach Heacock specifically. All I could think is, don't you know this team yet? You SHOULD NOT be dropping F bombs at the staff and team that early in the game!!!! Jeez 'O Pete!!! Otherwise, absolutely fun game to be at, awesome atmosphere. I have to admit it's gut wrenching to wait for the point where you see that switch flip and you know the Clones are going to win, but is is fun when it happens.
I always felt like the turning point was the 20-50 loss at oklahoma last year we competed for a while in that game before it got out of hand but you could see the guys playing hard and executing we just didnt have the talent but man i thought during that game you have to take the lumps with a young team to build upon need the scar tissue man
Its funny you say the defense is holding down the fort "enough" when they've not allowed more than 21 points all year, and those drives were all penalty aided. Like, it almost amazes me that the defense, which is higher ranked than the offense, + with the injuries, is still what is worried about while the offense, is talked about like its the greatest show on turf. Yes, West Virginia's offense is good. But its like every week you set them up to fail, and every week, they show why they're the 13th ranked defense in the nation. Despite the injuries. West Virginia might come out and hang 45 on the defense. They have really good players. But I have no concerns about the defense. I am concerned about the offense and the fact that we can't start well. Because that will trip us up at some point. The defense saved us against Iowa and Houston by limiting their scores. ST helped a great deal against Baylor with the blocked punt for a TD. Defense held North Dakota to 3. These slow starts, 3 out of 5 games first half interceptions - that's what will doom this team more than the defense. You can't keep telling a banged up defense, hey, guys, we're going to take anywhere from a quarter and a half to an entire half to actually start to score. Keep us in the game, okay? Thanks. That is what will end up costing Iowa State games. Because if the injuries do catch up to the defense, and we do give up a TD instead of a FG or get a stop, and are down 17-3 at half instead of 14-3 or 10-3... against better teams, that might be a loss. Love the players on offense. But they need to figure out a way to play 60 minutes or we could get tripped up
Heard that story today about the 5 losses. Talking to my dad today, 1980 was his first year teaching at ISU he said we lost the next 5. It seems like pessimism is just being a cyclone fan
I hate the White out. The only thing I hate more is the stupid Black jerseys. Never do that shit again. They are the Cardinal and Gold. Period. Also, why only ranked 11? Why are there teams with losses ranked higher than the Cyclones? Total BS. Also, have you seen the AP prediction of the playoff? The Cyclones are 4th seeded

That version of the Big 12 had good teams, though.
Noel went from not being able to catch anything two years ago to now being an all American
Noel and Higgins will be playing on Sundays.
Higgins and Noel are big time. Would like to see another receiver besides Higgins and Noel contribute tho.
I wish Eli Green could get going or even Beni Ngoyi
Me and my girlfriend were on the video board probably 6 times so I’d like partial credit for the energy from the Jumbotron 😂😂😂

No...

If the Cyclones can't win in this version of the Big 12 now that literally every good team has left, you will never win.
west virginia is such a trap game... that it isn't. CMC will have the boys ready to roll!!!!!!

It has nothing to do with that. The Big 12 is basically the MAC now. Every single good team has left.

The days of expecting to be let down maybe ended with the 54 yard FG against IA. Curse broken.
The thing that broke the curse was all of the good football schools leaving the big 12 🤣🤣🤣
I've been wondering, who's that a poster of behind Willaims?
Looks like Mike Leach.
Yep. Chris is huge Leath fan
Leach
@@joeljensen4539 Any idea of the backstory? I only started listening to these guys a year ago and don't think I've really heard him mention that name
Chris likes Leach’s offense style and his post game interviews.
"Modern era" = since Chris became an ISU fan. LOL
Not concerned with tech. Defense is inconsistent at best.
Love how Cyclones fans want to attribute this season to anything but the fact that all the good teams have left the Big 12.
