hey quick tip mate : if you put all your veggies et aromatics in cold water and then turn on the gas, the flavours will infuse way better in the water and ultimately the pork
I've been using this recipe on more than pork belly. I've used it on pork shoulder butt, pork ribs, etc. I've been shamelessly feasting. I love making lettuce wraps, but when I feel like bread, I get those low carb tortillas and make a wrap with kimchi and some mayo and pickled veggies. SOOOO good. Edit: I meant to mention that I never used to be able to eat much pork unless I got it from a special supplier that fed the pigs a specific diet. Pork always left me feeling ill. But now, with this preparation and eating it with kimchi, I'm fine! My body doesn't struggle to process it, which is a huge blessing since beef prices have been outrageous recently.
I love that you are now keto. I'm getting a lot of Korean recipes from you. Could you do a keto version of Tteokbokki? I made one with sausage and mozzarella cheese. I'd love to see what you could come up with. Thanks again
His recipe is totally incomplete. It’s missing the unfermented radish kimchi, pickled Napa cabbage, lettuce leaves, raw oysters, garlic slices, korean green peppers, shrimp paste, ssamjang, chojang, and rice/radish papers,
Such a delicious dish. I use hazelnut coffee and like to mix oysters in with the kimchi. Also I need some pepper baby salted shrimp with pickled cabbage leaves to make tasty baby wraps. So good just the way you ate it too.
I think this won’t be even close to what Korean people would do, but me as a butcher, would probably use something like Sirloin, it has the fatty part and still some very nice meat which (if cooked the right way) stays chewy, hope it will work out! Let me know!
I love you Chef, but this is one recipe I have to skip. I hate the texture of fatty meat lol.. I have since I was a kid. I'll eat the kimchi and you can eat my portion of pork belly 🤣

Always wondered how to reduce that pork grease flavor from pork belly, noted the hot tips to use coffee grind and soju! Banging recipe, chef!
I tried it today and my pork belly turned out great!! Thanks for this easy and yummy recipe.
I made this today and wow!! My husband and I ate so much. Couldnt stop, it was so good! Thank you for the recipe! 🌸
The fact that you can still hear him chew as he’s prepping the pork belly makes it better
Thanks for the recipe! What would you recommend using the leftover broth to make? :D

Bro what the alternative for shoju?
Can I use Cooking sake instead of Soju?
Hey chef, why did you put the coffee in?
I bought pork belly . Is it instant coffee or the other coffee
Looks really good! I bet It would be perfect with some hearts of palm rice from Natural Heaven!
Did your kimchi fail? That link isn't working.
Love this video. Curious on how you would prepare radish korean style?
I’ll chop that up soon too! ✌🏻
@@ChefChrisCho Thank you!
Thank you. I am gonna try this tonight. What can I substitute for the soy bean paste or can I just omit it altogether?
Japanese miso will work I guess?
Love it bro❤
Keep goin man!
You must have iron fingers, dipping them into boiling water like you did. 😳
Chef finger 🔥🔥🔥
Such a delicious dish. I use hazelnut coffee and like to mix oysters in with the kimchi. Also I need some pepper baby salted shrimp with pickled cabbage leaves to make tasty baby wraps. So good just the way you ate it too.
What can you do with the soup base btw
Love your videos Chief! Thank you. If we dont have an Asian market nearby to get Soju what can we use in place of it?
Sake or Vodka
Is putting it in the water just to cool it down?
Thanks Chris! I'm still hooked on those cucumbers bro.

Same question. Is it good/healthy to consume the broth?
you know this my favorite 😋
Chef can i.make it with beef? What part of beef are good for making bossam?
I think this won’t be even close to what Korean people would do, but me as a butcher, would probably use something like Sirloin, it has the fatty part and still some very nice meat which (if cooked the right way) stays chewy, hope it will work out! Let me know!
Awesome video 👏 CHEF CHRIS!!! Great format. Ingredients / Cooking /technique / tasting/ family interaction 👍🙏. Do a Ban Chan series.
Banchan coming!! ✌🏻
Could I used red wine instead of Soju?
What do you do with the used brine? Can it be reused or used as a soup base?
I threw it out as it has the oil from boiling the meat.
Delicious
보쌈은 못참지!
I'm wondering how that broth would taste with noodles.
Is it really intentional to not close the lid of the pot while boiling the pork?
Naaaaaah not really
I think it helps with the bad pork smell.
How about an episode of budae jjigae
First step and I already fail. I literally throw it all before even boiled 🙃
I love you Chef, but this is one recipe I have to skip. I hate the texture of fatty meat lol.. I have since I was a kid. I'll eat the kimchi and you can eat my portion of pork belly 🤣
Im thinking of eating only this for a week to jumpstart keto and then pray and hope to lose weight lol I'm desperate 🤣 yayayayayay
you lost me at the coffee lmao
what do you next with broth where you cook the pork? Do you throw it?
yes I did.
Make some Sundubu-jjigae
Gotchaaa. Coming!!
