2006 Nissan Pathfinder and Frontier Shift Indicator Light Bulb Change for Center Console

- Video showing how to take the center console apart to get to the shift indicator bulb on a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. Process is nearly the same for the 2005 Nissan Frontier. Used non-OEM bulb with standard number 2721 1.2W. Note: Bulb seemed dimmer than I thought it should be. Nissan OEM bulb might be brighter.
Update: Standard 2723 1.9W should have been the bulb I put in. However, I also found LEDs in that form factor and ordered some and put them in instead. ~$7 for 10 ea. LED was brighter but directional. The portion closer to the LED was brighter than the other end, even though there was a plastic light diffuser that is supposed to spread the light. Not terrible though.
Thank you for this post. The trick to use the paint can opener to lift up the plastic shift indicator cover is clever and very helpful. The side that is on the passenger side was proving impossible to get to slip over the plastic tabs with other tools, because there isn't much space to work with. I recommend starting on the passenger side as that is the toughest side to get to release, and the driver's side will be easy. For bulb replacement, I found it unnecessary to remove the shifter handle, but nice to know how it is done. It proved impossible for me to figure out what Nissan considers the correct replacement bulb, even after calling the dealer who could not identify the part. I ended up going with a 2.3 W 2723 (incandescent) bulb that to my eye provides the factory level of lighting.

Very interesting video sr..but it looks that you went tru a lot just to replace a lil.bulb...I have the same problem with the light, but personally I much rather not to replace it..is not really necessary to have it on! Your video was good nd very interesting thank you👍👍👍
