It was worth your time. I'm an old man. We built our RC cars. RTR was for kids. I still think I enjoy building them a little more than running them. Thank you!
Gees I have no business or budget to get into rc cars but your love of life and "christmas everyday" attitude makes me want to take part in the fun and joy of it. Thanks for not taking life too seriously and promoting undiluted fun!
Oh yah, gotta love it. I drive a b74d, and naturally I love mine. Associated is unbelievable at design, their cars and trucks outperform LITERALLY EVERY other company's designs... which makes sense since they win just about every race everywhere. A joy to build too... and so tunable with the little block kit they use to adjust the shock and wheel angle. Dont mind me, im just too much a fanboy of them. If you prefer 4wd grab the b74c or d (depending on if you want to race carpet or dirt). Shes worth every dollar.
Theyve come a long way from the old RC10 days, but it looks like their quality is still top-notch. I just got done repairing a Revo, Rustler, Amp MT, TC6.1 and now have to repair a few Armas (and the Revo, again)...I REALLY need to get a good set of hand tools, regular L-type allen wrenches are brutal on the fingers after a few hours.
Your assembly and then racing videos are very inspiring! Like many other viewers you got me back into rc, you make wrenching so much fun. Love your vids kev, peace love and respect.
You're not an idiot Kev, you're a master RC mechanic honestly. I have seen you do the most creative things when it comes to working on them or solving a problem. I am an early sub to you and I have learned pretty much everything from your videos, so much so that my friend has me do any work or fixes that he needs on his rigs.
@@NewTrip_NewAdventure that’s unfortunate! One of the biggest permanent indoor 1:10th scale touring car venues had to close here in the UK a few years back, that was sad
Kev, I started with only bashers and watched all of your videos. I’ve only recently got into carpet racing. Keep carpet racing videos with your B6.3 coming!
Team Associated is a good brand kev, that’s what I race off road. Suggestion for more steering you might want to change your toe, or give it more toe out in your case. Great racing though!
Biggest thing i notice at your RC club is they seem very relaxed and welcoming. I raced 1:10 TC back in the 2000s and found the worst part of racing was the people. Loved the sport but too many take it way too seriously and it takes the shine off it.
Kevin with as many cars as you build you need to invest in a Hudy vacuum chamber. Pulls all the air out of your oils. Examples are your shocks, diffs etc. In my opinion it saves time and is WAY more effective then the finger tap and set aside. Just my two cents worth.
A few years back, when I worked in a hobby shop, my experience was to have a set of wrenches for 1/10th or similar scale, then another for larger scale. We worked on HPI Bajas a lot. Where tools failed or lost their purchase/bite, was when they did double duty. Torquing up screws and bolts, on 1/5th scale models was different to smaller scale RCs. Especially when thread locking compound is added into the mix.
Oh my goodness is it just me, or did anyone else experience a really satisfying feeling from the sounds of those plastic suspension rod/arm ball joints "clunking" into place/onto steel ball joints!? LOL. Really satisfying sounds!! LOL. Thanks for ace vid Kev! Wes, Liverpool UK.
I heartily congratulate you on your victories. I think you put yourself under too much pressure in the 3rd qualification. Relax more and do everything the same as in the first rounds, in terms of the inner feeling and so on... Was realy an incredible Video. I really like watching you. Greetings again from switzerland.👍👍👍👍👍💪😁☺✌✌🇨🇭
Kev buy a hudy set up kit for 1/10 buggy it goes though set up for you tells you what to change and the expected result of the change , learning camber ,caster , toe , roll Center ride height ect is fun making the changes and feeling the difference it makes ,knowing it and doing it on Rc cars that take a few minutes is all the same full size .. Rc will help when you start full size monster truck and save time full size cars take so long to set up ,having a idea learnt from Rc gives unfair advantages …ppl that can set up Rc cars well when they start full size racing move and qualify to the A finals real fast as they know oversteer, understeer and how to get grip . There’s lots to learn but it’s all fun once you get the racing bug it’s hard to shake .. maybe try some on road racing ,if there a track near you and the pros are so fast and know set up so well … the ultimate set up kit is just that it has the tools and information to make your car fast and consistent and hudy is a bench mark with racers world wide yes there cheaper stuff out there but the hudy stuff and tools is the ducks nuts and quality that’s hard to compare …p.s hudy is a spin-off of x-ray luxury Rc race cars …
Kev take the front washer out of the ball studs to give it more steering and go down to 2k in the diff oil should give it more traction making it hook up better so it would be sliding around or pushing as you would call it and lower the rear ball studs
Team Associated B6’s are great buggies. I have a B6.2 and so far it’s been pretty durable and stable. If you add a few upgrades like shocks, tires, suspension, it turns out to be one greatest buggies I’ve raced.
Love your videos they always make me happy I got a slash 4x4 for Christmas after watching all your videos about it I bought a vxl system and 3s lipo and it is amazing still puts a smile on my face 1 and a half years later
Great video you can actually drive really good on a track very impressed and you’re inspiring me to get a A race car that I have to build and you inspired me to start a UA-cam channel
One of the best build video so far without me getting bored or sleepy.Hey Kev, any plan on building 1/10 on road pro kit like Xray X4? or Tamiya TA08 pro? or Infinity IF14-2? Always like your build videos, they never bore me. For a guy having a hard time on 2wd,showed an impressive feat!Well done mate! Cheers!
👍I started racing RC cars the same year the first true RC race buggy kit came out 1984 the Associated RC-10 and I bought one as soon as it was released, I had been as had most of the guys at the track had been racing tamiya grasshoppers which is so funny looking back on them mid- late 80s and the major evolution in RC racing and especially the 90s racing everywhere and awesome tracks everywhere it was RC Heaven.... I switched over to the JRX2 when it came out IN 88, I thought it looked better with the derlin parts and better a-arms it was a cooler car but it seems the RC-10 hasn't really changed that much after 38+ years on the market. I switched over to 1/8th gas in the mid 2000s and havent raced since 2015 due to more of a end of an era with everybody else gone and a new crowd of Racers unaware of the beginning of dirt off-road electric and how it went from zero to hero in just a few short years in the 80s...
I agree on those cheap Allen drivers. I have Hudy as well as these and they are brilliant. Honestly, not even close to the quality of Hudy but also not even close to the Hudy price. I keep those drivers in my road kit and if I lost them I would buy them again. Followed a a link of your in the past Kev to get my drivers. Thanks for the heads up on them.
I have the exact same cutters lol 🤘😆 I usually de grease the tire beads and sand a little on the rim glue ring just so I get a good stick but maybe I'm doing it wrong?? 🧐
Did you get the steering sorted? The first thing every experienced RC racer is going to check when a newbie asks for help with this is to make sure the steering servo endpoints are adjusted correctly. You want to get maximum steering throw dialed in as best as possible without making the endpoint too long which will bind up the suspension which will make it handle funny and stress the servo parts.
It would be awesome if most other cars had the option to build yourself. Like the Monster trucks, and Truggys. It sure would be beneficial for people to build the car, and know how everything works. I would love it!
You can use rtv on screws when you don't want to use locktite. It holds them in place well without locking them in too tight. I've been using it for thirty years on screws and bolts I didn't want backing out. There's a slight drag when removing it next time but nothing like locktite.
I want to build a race buggy myself but personally would go with the Losi 8ight XE Elite and install Tekin electronics in it. To get better steering, adjust rear toe to toe out.
It doesn't really matter what position you finish in the qualifying rounds that just gives you your grid position in the finals , Great race though, I miss racing my Team associated rc8 truggy , awesome hobby to get into
I struggle with changes in where I stand on the track. I’ve found the best way is to try and get lots of practice from standing in the centre of the row, that way if you end up at one end it’s not too much of a change from where you’ve been practicing

Use shock shaft pliers for building the shocks, they are rounded and won't damage the shock when you use it.
Hi Kevin
I have a suggestion for a video:
Tesco rc cars vs expensive rc cars
You have to wash the bead of tires before mounting. There’s a mold release agent on them from the factory and won’t stay glued.
Hi Kev great little car. And the video editing is A1 CLASS. your brother is doing you well. 👍
