The thing about Gill and consistent character modelling is that Capcom specifically chose NOT to do it in SF4/5/6. In SFEX, characters always respect model orientation: Ryu always DPs with his right hand, which means his back is to the camera on 1P side but his chest is to the camera on 2P side, Vega's claw is always on his right hand, etc. But in SF4/5/6, Capcom wanted to make the 3D models simulate a 2D look, so the models are mirrored depending on what side you're on: Ryu DPs with his right hand on 1P side but his left hand on 2P side, Vega's claw switches hands, etc. The exception to this rule is Gill, who always uses the same side limb in either direction (so his animations are viewed from the opposite camera angle on 1P vs. 2P side). Capcom could have just mirrored the model like everyone else but they chose not to, likely as a callback to SF3: Gill is the only character in SF3 whose art is NOT mirrored. He has an entirely different set of art for 1P side and 2P side (even at the versus screen!), which makes his moves have opposite elemental effects if he's facing left vs. right.
@rmcf3972 Not using it isn't an oversight or a preference thing, though. The character having mirrored animations is meant to keep them consistent whether they are on player 1 or 2 side for balance purposes. Players use the characters limb to track their actions and animation can be used as a tell to see what move is coming, and too much changes could even affect the frame data. Notably, changes that does not affect the gameplay (Juri's covered eye, Ryu's Kesaya, etc) aren't mirrored.
@@emperormegaman3856 That can't be true, because they chose not to do it for Gill in SF5. It's purely a stylistic choice, and definitely does not affect "the frame data" at all. The DLC characters probably influenced a lot of SF6 too. Ryu's idle stance is synced with his theme there. Jamie has unique light kick strings (idle stance also syncs with theme). Dee Jay has an entire dance move to return from parry to idle stance which NEVER plays out in a full match. There's the hidden taunts too, like Shin Akuma and Shin Bison. Characters have tons of flair you don't usually see in a match.
There are soo many secrets with taunts, and cool stances for when you get drive back after burnout, I only recently realized there's a separate pose for if you're crouching after burnout recovery, I only noticed as Kim but I need to check everyone else, if you recover as kim while standing she does a sort of ninja hand move, but if you're crouching she does a kind of leg stretch warm up thing like goku. Really cool stuff.
There's a lot I don't like--most of the backgrounds are awful and the aesthetic is generally inconsistent. But at least we had costumes and an absolutely killer roster. Love that we got Gill, Mike and Oro in the same game.
Sf5 was my entry to street fighter and what laid the foundation for one of my favorite hobbies I get nostalgic thinking about looking back at playing that game and I miss it honestly.

It's always cute to see SFV getting some love, it was never perfect, but it definitely had a lot of charm towards the end. I also really like how much freaking content this game has now, bunch of characters with different VTriggers and costumes and stuff, it's just fun to open training mode and see what each character has. also, bit of a hot take, but I really liked this game's art style, I wished SF6 kept the cartoony style with the higher production levels it got, there are some things like the hits parks and the lighting that still look better to me in V.
The happens with literally every single gaming franchise. Gamers get burnt out say the game is trash. New entry comes out and a year later everyone says the previous entry wasn’t that bad. A small resurgence happens Then everyone goes back to hating the newest entry Happens in cod, in battlefield, 2k, madden, MK, Ac
generally most people dont think sf6 is trash theres just a small minority of players that are verry vocal about negligable issues within the game. sfv is just a good game especially at the place its in now so people have a lot of reason to go back

I missed out on V for the dumbest, most obscure reason to do with the game crashing over touch screens (I had a dumb laptop at the time) which kept getting me kicked out of online matches and staring down a ban for DC's. Sadly just dropped it at the time for lack of a better computer.
Seth made this game for me! I was pissed when sf6 came out because I was so into SFV! I only got interested in season 4 so I missed out on many years of this game... Hopefully Seth comes back for 6.

I still regret never getting to give Oni a real try in SFIV. It's those types of thoughts that makes going back and reminiscing with older entries feel bittersweet.
I know it’s a hot take, but SFV is one of my favorite fighting games. I much rather play the final season of SFV than SF6. Maybe if/when they add Alex to SF6 my thoughts will change. I’m just not a fan of drive rush

I'm still playing this game, albeit only with my friend, but we're having a lot of fun. Even more than 6 in my case. The 6 gameplay doesn't do it for me the same way 5 does, and I like the roster much better here, because Karin (my main since Alpha 3) and Akira are here
Brilliant video!!! Good nostalgia 😅! F.A.N.G was indeed unusual, my SF Coach back then was MQS (Metal Queer Solid) who was amazing and a F.A.N.G main for sure
Can't belive Broski didn't bring up, in my opinion, the MOST standout thing about Dan in this game. He has an infinite. Well not anymore but it was so interesting how Capcom got rid of it. They buffed his fireball so that there is a small chance a red version occurs that causes a knockdown. It's probably the best reaction to an uninteded feature i've seen. Technically there isn't an infinite anymore but it's still hype if any Dan got into the combo, getting more hype as it goes on longer without the buffed fireball occurring.
I swear, some of you people just hate for the love of hate. SFV animations are mostly beautiful. The fluidity, detail, and sense of character conveyed in almost every move is superb.
@@libertarianvoterI echo your sentiments, sfv was and is still more beautiful than 6. It is also more fleshed out despite being flawed. SFV had a 7 year run but honestly Capcom should give it another 5 seasons and focus on developing 6 more. How have you not learned from the mistakes you made in sfv and repeat them in 6
no it really wasn't... sorry to tell you this but SFV comp scene was doing terribly by the time the game was getting any good. there where some guys holding things down but a huge proponent of comp players where leaving to T7 and Fighterz. SFV was a joke by season 3 and most scenes including SF community was clowning on it.
For the record: Cody being able to swap held buttons for EX Zonk isn't new: Boxer was able to do that while charging Turn Punch in HF. And count me as one of those who ended up hating SFV, the only SF I have ever hated. I lasted until the last season, when I couldn't even be bothered to download Luke. You couldn't pay me to play that game now.
Thx for this particular content Broski. 👍 SFV revival every day for me. ✌😅 I miss Sagat, Urien, Birdie and a few lads more...I also miss watching pro's doing sick, crazy stuff with Gill, Seth and Oro (wink wink). It's the reason why I've only played sf6 demo so far lmao! The characters I mentioned are so rich with so much personality. That's why I'm always cheering for you and AKI in sf6, a fascinating character that really stands out.
Street Fighter 5 was much better in many ways compared to Street Fighter 6. Especially for exemple, on the music Street Fighter 5 to the best music of all the license (after the best Street Fighter 2, of course.) And the final cast of Street Fighter 5 is my all time favorite, I love the old unknown characters they brought back (I still can't believe they're back Lucia from Final Fight 3 and Akira from rival schools, I was so happy and too happy at the time they announced them.) if I'm fiddling I would have liked to have at least Fei Long, Makoto, Elena , and Maki Genryusai from Final Fight 2 who was playable in the portable version of street fighter alpha 3, but really the final roster is perfect otherwise. They chose the best characters from each iteration of the license each time. the return of Karin, R. Mika and Alex, the pleasant surprises that Lucia and Akira were, and the refreshing novelties that were the characters of Menat and Kolin. Not to mention the fact that the Universe of Strider is now canon to the universe of Street Fighter with Zeku. The V trigger and all the other tactics and mechanics of the game. No, really, the game in its final form is almost perfect. if Capcom released a Super version with the missing characters, a second story mode to explain Neo Shadaloo (and maybe a third one to retell the story of Street Fighter 3.) And maybe to nitpick, to redo the story of the 5th with a better script, the original still had some clumsiness in its writing. The game would be perfect.
bro just ignoring the horrible online and how capcom installed malware onto your PC. also comparing a games roster that was out for around 6 years and a game thats been out for 2 makes no sense.
Glad this got captured on UA-cam, I saw a bunch of people playing it on the holiday. Edit - oooh that's why. It was a fun game, I only ever enjoyed sfv from when I started playing in 2020 or so.
I'm an unashamedly certified SFV hater (no shade at those who love the game, I just never jived with it). The one thing it did well was introduce a decent solution to 1frame links with the 3frame buffer. I felt that was a nice way to make combos approachable to all levels of play while still making it possible to drop them during tense moments. Apart from the obvious things that most people hate the game for, I feel its biggest shortcoming was the V system itself. V Skill feels like it was meant to give characters a cool attack or mechanic that could be executed by pressing only two buttons but it all went wrong when they found out how tough they would be to balance. Chun Li VSs both make absolutely no sense and they were useless, to name an example. VTs were also not what I would call intuitive. My meter is full, I press two heavies, my character does a cool install pose and then...what? For a big portion of the cast, it is not clear at all what their VTs did and how they were supposed to be used. Then there's the art and the general vibe of the game. Boy does looking at this game make both want to vomit and not feel anything at the same time. Capcom genuinely seems like they scrambled to make and release the next game to ensure they have a new CPT season that feels fresh and new. I still can't believe the game lauched with the menu and UI it did.
I'd like to give some love to my main Kage. I know he's not very popular, but he's the coolest character in the game, no exceptions. My other favourites are Nash, Ed and Necalli, most of whom also don't seem very popular. Weird
It's really too bad street fighter 5 sucked so incredibly much because it has some really cool stuff. The netcode combined with it being a hyper online focused game just ensured it sucked no matter what else.

One character I want back so badly is G he was such a unique big body
If they bring him back, they shouldn't change a damn thing.
Sometimes you get it right the first time. G is perfect.
SFV was such a beautiful game by the end. It became so hated early on that it eventually became underrated.
Rose tinted glasses
@@usernameluis305 I played that game a TON after the Season 3.5 patch (ending the Abigail reign of terror). It's one of my favorite games of all-time.
Nah the game is still kinda ass honestly. It's just ugly visually and mechanically with horrible balence
@@aledantih6524 You don't know what balance is because you can't spell it.
@@darthrevan6 yeah makes sense an SF5 glazer could only hang onto a spelling mistake, that's pretty much all you got 😂
I always remembered Laura as the woman who tried setting her brother up with Chun-Li, but I slowly became an entire fan of her move set and character.
That "beach ball" is definitely a basketball.

Love how the devs said that the mirror tandem absorb is supposed to be Marisa's gladius.
As a Zangief player i think SFV can stay dead. But as a new found luke player, i think i didnt give the game enough of a chance.
Here comes the weird crybaby gief player
@@heretickishyt if they nerfed your character like they nerfed gief in 5 i bet youd be crying about it too
Laura was one of if not the sickest character
THANK YOU. I was literally on board until Broski said he had nothing good to say about her. Laura is my favorite grappler in SF history, she's so sick
My favorite fighting game of all time. Happy to see people coming back and giving it some flowers

Ex dolphin dive not being Birdie’s fastest dolphin dive will forever haunt me because I’ve never jumped that shit on reaction when it matters
There's a lot I don't like--most of the backgrounds are awful and the aesthetic is generally inconsistent. But at least we had costumes and an absolutely killer roster. Love that we got Gill, Mike and Oro in the same game.
So many cool characters man. Hope a lot of them return, but especially hoping for Zeku one day.
I miss playing sfv kage so much that's one of my favorite mains in any game he had so much sauce
Sf5 was my entry to street fighter and what laid the foundation for one of my favorite hobbies I get nostalgic thinking about looking back at playing that game and I miss it honestly.
Man... Such a great video, thanks for sharing. I got a little teary-eyed taking that trip down memory lane haha. :)
Man seeing Nash in the thumbnail makes me so sad. I thought he was sick as fuck in both design and gameplay and they just did him so dirty, both in the story and his balance after season 1.
Probably never seeing him again 😔
Hey never say never, I mean the devs brought back Bison cause f continuity.
It is a shame. It's a shame what happened to Nash after Season 1. Same can apply to Ryu.
Season 5 Charlie isn’t in an awful spot.
Most people don't even know this, but Ken's VT2 was anti fireball AND anti throw
I was beating Raging Demon with it and people didn't understand why
This was a hilarious and informative experience since I missed the chance to play SFV when it dropped and was active. Great stuff & Merry Christmas
🎄🕹️
i did wish they did something with new bison like a crazy female bison or something like the point of him having all these dolls is for him to take over them if he dies he can have a new body same thing with seth...
SF6 stages are kinda mid, it needs more cozy and night stages. And theres no obligatory grassland stage in 6.
The happens with literally every single gaming franchise.
Gamers get burnt out say the game is trash.
New entry comes out and a year later everyone says the previous entry wasn’t that bad.
A small resurgence happens
Then everyone goes back to hating the newest entry
Happens in cod, in battlefield, 2k, madden, MK, Ac
generally most people dont think sf6 is trash theres just a small minority of players that are verry vocal about negligable issues within the game. sfv is just a good game especially at the place its in now so people have a lot of reason to go back
Yeah sf6 has been widely well received
@@kevincredible4273 thankfully the SF6 players are just a way too loud minority. But still it gets grating trying to enjoy something when you just have a bunch of whiners who cry constantly.
sf5 was ass on release and everyone complained, sf5 was good at the end of its life and tons of people were thanking capcom for improving it, and then sf6 was great on release and received well. It is not a surprise people are happy to revisit agame they liked. Ur comment isnt even close to representative to the real community reaction and the cycle ur describing only exists for sf if u werent actually paying attention.
@@megapussiSf6 is a stale rock paper scissors with dumb reaction checks, random mechanics and the lowest skill ceiling in the franchise, this is why some people hate it
Hot take, lore and storywise Necalli was terrible but I still love his design and gameplay. Wouldn't mind seeing him return in 6 and just have him like with Ed and just do overall redesign on him to be redeem.
I missed out on V for the dumbest, most obscure reason to do with the game crashing over touch screens (I had a dumb laptop at the time) which kept getting me kicked out of online matches and staring down a ban for DC's. Sadly just dropped it at the time for lack of a better computer.
I really wish there was a Homer Simpson costume for Oro.
I miss akira she was dope
Nice to see this game still getting attention!
There's an Extra Trials mod that adds a ton of custom trials to the game, for anybody revisiting SFV.
Nice nostalgia trip broski Merry Christmas man
Seth made this game for me! I was pissed when sf6 came out because I was so into SFV! I only got interested in season 4 so I missed out on many years of this game... Hopefully Seth comes back for 6.
SFV was fun and still is, especially loved the fact that Capcom brought back all the alpha characters except Sodom
I started watching broski because of gill im glad he talked about our forgotten illuminati king
I loved that 5:17 gill skin specifically for the change depending on which side you were on.
I need Seth to come back and for them to change absolutely nothing about them
Love you broski ❤
God bless you man❤
SFV is my favourite fighting game ever😅❤
I only have one question brother I hope you reply
Do you play on Dpad or analog?(because I know that you're a pad player)
14:39 god, the animations in this game still look so wrong to me. They're snappy, and they have strong keyposes, but they're a little too snappy, and the terrible hair & cloth physics are too loose. Idk, I'm no professional or anything, but it just looks OFF.
Gill in this game is so fucking tight. His game plan is so cool and I’d love something similar in 6
Heartwarming: This 97 year old streamer still combos the old fashioned way
Good old times when I watch Broski and BrianF cooking with Oro
I still regret never getting to give Oni a real try in SFIV. It's those types of thoughts that makes going back and reminiscing with older entries feel bittersweet.
Just go back and play it
you can play it on PC bro it aint that hard
Its is amazing how many costumes and skins SFV has had. Even some Christmas stuff to wear for littelary max four weeks of the year.
I know it’s a hot take, but SFV is one of my favorite fighting games. I much rather play the final season of SFV than SF6. Maybe if/when they add Alex to SF6 my thoughts will change. I’m just not a fan of drive rush
Same!
How much do you have to lose in sf6 to think v is better lol, how can you say you dont like drive rush but v trigger is okay?

I'm still playing this game, albeit only with my friend, but we're having a lot of fun. Even more than 6 in my case. The 6 gameplay doesn't do it for me the same way 5 does, and I like the roster much better here, because Karin (my main since Alpha 3) and Akira are here
21:07 crazy to me that they have him Laura vt2 as a normal special and made it better
So, SF6's post launch support is that bad, huh?
It's actually awful. 4 characters per season is a 33% reduction, no costumes, no stages, like wtf is happening

It’s miserable. Bison and Terry don’t even have their outfit 3s yet.
love these retrospective style videos
Brilliant video!!! Good nostalgia 😅!
F.A.N.G was indeed unusual, my SF Coach back then was MQS (Metal Queer Solid) who was amazing and a F.A.N.G main for sure
Maybe Brokis really like SFV
Menat definitely needs to return but not if they'll simplify her. Ed's glow-up gives me hope that they won't, though.
God I forgot how janky and weightless the animations in this game looked
I swear, some of you people just hate for the love of hate. SFV animations are mostly beautiful. The fluidity, detail, and sense of character conveyed in almost every move is superb.
Vanilla characters seems to do that, but characters added later to the game are improving so much. SF4 though, that's what i call weightless
@@libertarianvoterI echo your sentiments, sfv was and is still more beautiful than 6. It is also more fleshed out despite being flawed. SFV had a 7 year run but honestly Capcom should give it another 5 seasons and focus on developing 6 more. How have you not learned from the mistakes you made in sfv and repeat them in 6

sorry to tell you this but SFV comp scene was doing terribly by the time the game was getting any good.
there where some guys holding things down but a huge proponent of comp players where leaving to T7 and Fighterz.
SFV was a joke by season 3 and most scenes including SF community was clowning on it.

Bring back Gil and Lady Seth too
For the record: Cody being able to swap held buttons for EX Zonk isn't new: Boxer was able to do that while charging Turn Punch in HF.
And count me as one of those who ended up hating SFV, the only SF I have ever hated. I lasted until the last season, when I couldn't even be bothered to download Luke. You couldn't pay me to play that game now.
funny enough, akira has some stuff liek that with her vs2 combos. Her air combos are. surprisingly technical
A missed opportunity for an 80 hour video called „The SFV retrospective”.

No Alex or Lucia, I cri
Thx for this particular content Broski. 👍 SFV revival every day for me. ✌😅 I miss Sagat, Urien, Birdie and a few lads more...I also miss watching pro's doing sick, crazy stuff with Gill, Seth and Oro (wink wink). It's the reason why I've only played sf6 demo so far lmao! The characters I mentioned are so rich with so much personality. That's why I'm always cheering for you and AKI in sf6, a fascinating character that really stands out.
Street Fighter 5 was much better in many ways compared to Street Fighter 6.
Especially for exemple, on the music Street Fighter 5 to the best music of all the license (after the best Street Fighter 2, of course.)
And the final cast of Street Fighter 5 is my all time favorite, I love the old unknown characters they brought back (I still can't believe they're back Lucia from Final Fight 3 and Akira from rival schools, I was so happy and too happy at the time they announced them.)
if I'm fiddling I would have liked to have at least Fei Long, Makoto, Elena , and Maki Genryusai from Final Fight 2 who was playable in the portable version of street fighter alpha 3, but really the final roster is perfect otherwise.
"Seth ruined this game on release." Well... some things never change.
I didn't enjoy SF5 but this was an interesting video. Impressive that you still know so many gimmicks and combos.
Please revisit USF4 next.
I believe he already did
@@ekwensu8797 I checked and as it turns out, I'd already seen it but forgot. My comment was still there as proof :D
Glad this got captured on UA-cam, I saw a bunch of people playing it on the holiday.
Edit - oooh that's why.
It was a fun game, I only ever enjoyed sfv from when I started playing in 2020 or so.
Broski... That mena match was absolutely fire .. sad loss but well fought
Those taunt cancels are ripped straight from Garou btw
It's always fun to look back
So many things I remember liking, don't like or even didn't know like Luke grab counter lol
I never knew cody coukd swap punch button holds wtffff
I'd like to give some love to my main Kage. I know he's not very popular, but he's the coolest character in the game, no exceptions.
My other favourites are Nash, Ed and Necalli, most of whom also don't seem very popular. Weird
Watching the section, Seth may be the exception
It's really too bad street fighter 5 sucked so incredibly much because it has some really cool stuff.
The netcode combined with it being a hyper online focused game just ensured it sucked no matter what else.
Watching this made me miss the days of playing sfv Ken, mixing people up with vt1 and being a total projectile destroyer with vt2.
3:43 holy shit imagine if there was a 3f parry in sf6. it would be broken as hell!
