Thanks very much, that's really appreciated 🙏 😊 Unfortunately it can happen when your running races like the Arc but I'll definitely go back next year and get it finished 👍 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏
Really cool how many top Pro Ultra runners were involved in creating the end product. Ryan Sandes helped developed this and used the prototype for Navigate Lesotho which is a mix of mountainous and muddy technical terrain.
Took a chance on these, two months ago, based on this review. What I found is that they WERE wide enough in my usual size, but they were oddly long (by an inch?) in the toebox, so that I wouldn't trust them running (trip-a-long Cassidy) on anything other than buffed out trails or smooth pathways. They felt great, cushioned, but just awkwardly long. I had to return them as I can't take chances on stubbing, tripping, or falling... great review, tho!
That's very strange, I've never know an S/Lab shoe to size up long? Do you think they might have been labelled up wrong, I've had this happen with running shoes before 🤔
Not much to say about the shoes but I was glued to the Mud Crew livestream and dot watching. Real sorry to hear about your race Loyd but glad you are ok. There will always be another race.👍
Thanjs Nick, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The S/Lab Genesis is well cushioned but I'd still say the Xodus Ultra is a bit more comfortable 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
Hi Loyd, thanks for the advice on the ARC last weekend. Used mutants to St Ives then switched to Saucony Ultras till the finish. Felt like putting slippers on. Definitely one of my all time running achievements. Back again next year??? could well be
That's great to hear and I'm gkad your race went well! 👍 I'm definitely going back next year and the outcome will be very different. Hope your recovery is going well and thanks for watching 🙏
I'd really like to see you do a review of the NNormal Tomir. The race-orientated Kjerag is probably too hardcore for many runners, but the Tomir should be more orientated to the broader running community. It's hard to find information though and your reviews just work really well. I'd love to see it happen.
I have the tomir, great shoe. If not a bit on the former side for a hoka boy like me. Took some breaking in either the upper for me but it runs so so so so well. Great traction in mud and snow and on rocks.
A great feeling shoe that lasted… 21km for me. The midsole detached from the upper because of sewing. Taking out the insole almost made me scream. Some part are put together with small pieces of tape!! Hope it was a trash batch and I had bad luck. But saw some similar comment on the Web… I had to work a bit for the costumer service to take them back, but it happened.
@@antoinedaina355 sounds really bad. Friend of mine and me don’t have any problems yet. I am up to 400k in them. Through mud snow and alpine terrain. Hope your next pair works out for you
Thanks for the review. I think I'll get some of these for a 250km desert run I have in September. It's in the Atacama (Chile) and the terrain is mixed over the sections. 🤟
WOW !! very impressive review; much detailed and straight to the point. IMHO dull colorways kill the looks of many good trail shoes, but of course aesthetics is much of a personal feeling in this case. As we all know, is function over form ...
I've enjoyed my pair for about 400 miles. More room and cush thab typical Salomons. The soft foam breakdown relatively fast and the lugs end up sinking into the foam so the lugs become recessed. But for dry trails they're still okay.
Thank you very much for the great presentation of the shoes Mr. Loyd. Can you compare the size of the S lab genesis shoe with the Salomon S lab ultra 3? My size is 9, with s lab ultra 3 I would like some space on my left foot which is stronger than the right Unfortunately, they did not have size 9.5 to try on. Thank you for your reply.
Hey Loyd! Thanks for the review. How would you compare them to the Salomon Ultra Glide in terms of cushioning and grip? The sole seems to be identical… best, Pawel.
Ran mountain ultra in these and felt great climbing but they destroyed my toes on way down. Wide as Salmon’s go but still on narrow side. Feel great up to 15 miles but I wouldn’t push further with my widish forefoot in these.
Like I said in the review Brent, it's definitely not a shoe for wide feet! My foot width is quite narrow and they fit great but you'd struggle if you had any width 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
I think it's more comfortable than an Ultra Glides but I'm with you, the Xodus Ultra is one of the most comfortable shoes I've run in 😊 Thanks for watching 🙏
Great review Loyd, thanks. Quick question: After a few runs is there any more space created across the top of the shoe towards the bottom lace? I’m trying a pair in my usual Salomon size and its tight but comfortable (length is good and there is good toe space). Wondering if there’ll be ANY give in the shoe...
@@sam_metal I didn't have any pain, I was more concerned that it was slightly tight and that over the course of an ultra it may not have enough volume to leave some room for movement/swelling. I felt the pressure across the top of my foot just down from the lace where the shoe flexed...
@@markgething4175 well that's exactly where I felt it and I'm wondering if it has to do with the glue/fabric of the shoe plus the lacing as you described. I wore them for about 40 miles in a 100km race and then switched to another pair of shoes. a week later when I tried the shoe on for a training run, they caused pain in that area and I haven't been able to wear them since.
Thanks for the review Loyd. As an alternative one could buy three pairs of TNF Vectiv Levitum (on sale), with deeper lugs, great comfort, stability and flexibility... and have £15 left over :) Worth considering?
@@Run4Adventure Crikey Loyd. You'd be a bit disappointed every time you looked down at your feet wouldn't you. Your colourway mockup looks the business. Commiserations on your DNF. You'll come up smiling on another adventure before you know it.
Tnx for the review. It looks a bit as the ultra glide to me but with durability. I think the strange side protection thingies are to compensate for a design flaw. I dont think anybody really thinks you need these extra weights for protection. Not interested in these btw because of the cost. It is also almost nowhere available..Maybe running shops notice that people dont want to spend that much money on shoes.. I love it if you review more affordable (trail running) shoes! Also interested in other brands like scarpa, dynafit and la sportiva. Reviews of these are far more valuable because reviews in these are hard to find..
The pads definitely offer protection, they work really well so I don't think there's any design flaw going on here? 🤔 They are expensive unfortunately but we are seeing prices going up across the board! I'm going to be testing out some trail shoes from La Sportiva soon but some of their shoes are just as expensive. Dynafit aren't that popular in the UK and in fact their UK website is closed? 🤔 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏
Real informative review as always Loyd. I trust you have fully recovered from the Arc. You’re looking fit & healthy.
Gutted the Arc didn't go to plan - but good to see you back in front of the camera - stay strong 👊🏻

For reference I have ran a 90 and 45 mile run in them without foot issues although I don't have wide feet
Any difference in size vs pulsar or ultra glide?
Thanks Loyd. I look forward to the ARC video - OOI what worked well and what could have been better? Tom
We'll have a video on the channel soon, thanks Tom 🙏😊
I got my instep on rock while racing and it really hurt so interesting to hear about them guards
Great review again Loyd 👌 you had also reviewed the normal genesis. Do they have any fit difference in their size? You wear same size in both?
Hi Lloyd! did you had the chance to test the Norvan LD3 and if yes, how do they compare to the Genesis? confort wise and stability wise
Looks fab! Just wish it was a bit wider... Doubt my monster feet would fare all that well in them.
If you've got a wide foot shape Jacob I'd maybe give it a miss, it's quite narrow 🤔

Can you compare the size of the S lab genesis shoe with the Salomon S lab ultra 3?

Trail Shoe Comparison! Salomon S/Lab Genesis vs Sacouny Endorfin Edge, what are your thoughts? Have a great weekend everyone…
The OG S/Lab Sense Ultra was the best shoe that ever came out of Annecy. This looks like a great shoe but probably not as versatile.
